  1. I live in upstate NY, and a local sporting goods store has one of these creatures on the shelf,.....http://centerfiresystems.com/mka-1919.aspx I about pissed myself when I saw it there for sale. I have the gun laws here pretty well memorized and when I brought up the fact that the M-1919 is "technically" illegal due to the "pistol grip". The guy behind the counter said something to the extent of; Albany knows we have it here, they ok'd the transfer from the distribributor. If your only goal in life is to go to the range and have fun with it, no one will probobly care. If your walking d
  2. AWESOME! thanks for the replies fellas. I just got a (M-10) AK today as a matter of fact. So Ill take a look and compare the two parts. Definately gonna buy the tromix pin though. one less part ill have to make. and if the AK pin will work as a replacement for the (WTF it's called) part. I'll make a mention of it,.....and take a pic as well of the two side by side. I was thinking titanuim as well, but I read a really good debate in another gun forum concerning titanuim VS. steel / tungsten for firing pins. And it would seem to me that for the saiga 12, a harder metal would be better,.....b
  3. They dont do tempering where I work,...just hardending. Hard turning is quite common though, would drill rod be too tough and possibly damage the bolt? they have the "striker" in stock,....Im using the names in the owners manuall. If it's supposed to be called something else let me know. Im used to AR-15/ M-16, where its all one peice. Which brings me to another question. would there be an advantage to making the pin and stricker as one peice or would it be best to keep it as two seperate parts??
  4. According to the owners manual,....that part is called the striker,......I need part that is known as #24 in the owners manuall,.....the firing pin. It must go by a different name in Russia or something. If it's supposed to be called something different please let me know, could be why I cant find the part anywhere on the net.
  5. Tried this allready with steel rod bought from lowes, sent it through heat treat (carbonized and hardend), but the parts came out a little too warped for them to turn properly. So Im thinking about trying it with something that would require no heat treating. Like tungsten or stainless steel. I found plenty of places that sell the strikers (called firing pins for some reason), but no one has the (actuall) firing pin. Any suggestions on what would be the best choice for materials??
  6. Im haveing the same sort of problem, except my firing pin broke, and the striker is worn off at the tip. I've found the striker just fine (called firing pin???), but I cant find the actuall pin anywhere. Does anyone know what type of AK pin will work? Tried looking at those as well, but none of them look even close to the type that is in the Saiga 12.
  7. I figured it out, thanks for everyones help!
  8. @ 1:09 she state that one in five cops are killed by guns. I would love to see some data to prove that 20% of dead cops are from legal gun owners. And strangely I would like to know what kills the remaining 80% of the the on duty police??
  9. as it looks in the pic at the factory that will be legal in nys.no folding stock,no pistol grip.same featurers as sagia 12. I shall hope your right. The whole "conspicuously beneath the action" language we got here does not give me much faith.
  10. Maelstrom,...name i acquired from playing drums in various Death Metal bands,......3of2,......the number 2 divided 3 ways gives a repeating decimal of .666,........that part was inspired by the hot chick from star trek,.....7of9. However 7 (divided into) of 9 equals 2.287,.........9 of 7 equals .777 I think they got it backwards.
  11. Snagged a weaver mount for my saiga thinking it would work with the factory rail,....didn't fit! After window shopping on the web it appears that most require a special rail to be installed. Some sites didn't say one way or another if it would fit factory or not. Id rather not mod the gun if I can help it. Can anyone point me in the direction of a side rail mount that will work with the factory rail. Also on the subject of weaver mounts,.... anyone have any experience with the upper receivers that has the weaver slots milled into the receiver itself. Thinking of using the side rail for a
  12. shame,....they'll have to neuter that gun to sell in it NY,....or not sell it at all. I need to move!
  13. Same Here,....small world I wonder how many guns go through their QC in an average day?? Great write up sir!
  14. Thanks for the feed back everyone! I actually red that forum post while I was lurking around for the past week or so. I mainly using the gun for range fun, and hunting next year. When I go the range ill be taking some 10 round mags, and hunting will obliviously be 5. So to avoid switching stocks around, I was just looking for a one identical f to the factory stock, but maybe a bit longer. We got a lot of Meth labs, and militia in this area,......and as a result, some extra feds are in the area. Not trying to roll the dice on a thumb hole stock 'round these parts.
  15. Im new here, but ive been lurking for a couple weeks now. Awesome Forum!! I've been looking for a better hunting stock for my new Saiga I just got. All i can find are the fun stocks I cant have here in NY. I would prefer an American made one for the whole 922 nonsense. Also been looking for other stuff like Bolts, and better charging handles (that dont require mods) Any help would be appreciated!! Thanx!
