  1. The only thing on the front trunnion is the four serial number on the left hand side. The trunnion, bolt carrier and bolt have the same serial numbers. Any idea of where I would find the correct rivets for the rear trunnion?
  2. The two rear rivets that hold the stock on do look different than the others on the rifle. They don't look to bad on the right hand side of the rifle but on the left hand side they don't have the same round shape as the others. I don't see any signs on the butt stock that it was removed and there is zero play on it. It locks tight both extended and when folded. The cleaning kit is inside the butt stock. I wonder if I could find the correct rivets for the butt stock and have them redone.
  3. We haven't established a price yet but I don't want to pay more than $500.00 for it. Would that be over paying?
  4. There are absolutely no markings whatsoever like what you have on yours. If the price is right I may buy it but I really wish it had its original upper hand guard. Thanks for the info on where to find the upper hand guard.
  5. I'm contemplating buying this rifle just because I've never seen one but I don't know anything about them. The only markings on it are on the left hand side above the pistol grip "GSAD MANH. BEA..CA" and I can faintly see what I believe to be the words "Norinco and China" but I can't make out what is in between them. There are no other markings on this rifle including caliber other than its four digit serial number. It appears to have an after market brake on it as someone had to grind it down on the bottom so that the spike would lock in place. I'm also not sure about the upper hand guard
  6. I too have had a 7.62 without dimples and had no more/no less mag wobble than my dimpled 7.62's. It's purely cosmetic in my opinion but as canoecanoe said it may be less appealing to other potential buyers should you choose to sell it. I wouldn't hesitate top buy another if the deal was right.
  7. I've had good luck using the Bulgarian AK74 gas tube which needs no extra fitting, at least from the two 308's that I've converted. If you end up grinding to much off you should be able to find a 74 tube. Good luck.
  8. Are you using the original gas tube or during your conversion did you swap it out? How does it cycle with the gas tube removed, hand cycling only of course? Is your gas tube seated properly and locking lever fully engaged? I ran into this issue after refinishing one of my 308's where the bolt seemed to be binding while running it forward. I realized that I hadn't fully locked the gas tube lever as I was waiting for the paint to fully cure. After locking it, the bolt moved freely.
  9. I have a used but in new condition Midwest Industries AK side railed scope mount for sale. I'm looking to get $90.00 shipped, USPS money order or PayPal. Thanks for looking.
  10. I ended up removing some material from the front of the magazines which resolved the problem, they lock in and function nicely with zero feeding issues.
  11. The are I'll concentrate on will be the front of the magazine where it touches the trunnion. This seems to be the area most people are suggesting to get it to fit. I'm willing to sacrifice a magazine if necessary to get a proper fit for the others. If this doesn't seem like it will work I'll consider removing some material from the rear of the magwell.
  12. I just received several Weiger and Beryl magazines for my Saiga 223. I've read several threads about making these magazines fit my rifle but most of them involve removing some material from the rear of the mag well by the mag release. Is there any other way of removing material from the magazines alone without altering the rifle or is this the norm? When I insert the mag I can see the back of the magazine hitting the rear of the mag well which is where it seems like I could remove a little from the mags to make them fit. If modding the rifle is the best route I can do so but I would prefer
  13. Super fast shipping, great guy to deal with. Thanks
  14. I'll take AK-74 1000M Rear Sight Leaf (Blued finish) $11.99 and Dinzag AK-74 Muzzle Brake w/ M24x1.5 RH Threads (US Made, Part #74MB24MM) $45.00. PM sent.
  15. I'm going to pick up several of the black ones for the color alone. Now lets see how long they will take to make it here.
  16. I see, is there a preferred one over the other? It would seem the steel reinforced ones would be more desirable.
  17. I saw this same auction but I was hesitant due to the sellers location. Perhaps I'll wing it and purchase some of the black mags and see what happens. Thanks again. I have bought from. He's agood seller. Took about two weeks to send my money order and get my mags. That makes me feel more confident about ordering from him. Do you by chance know the difference between the black mags and the greenish colored mags he is selling?
  18. Just ream out your current front sight block, don't turn down your barrel. If the wheel cylinder hone doesn't work you can use a sanding spindle which can be purchased at most of the big box home repair stores. I've successfully reamed out both of my 308 front sight blocks in order to move them back using the sanding spindle which I put in my drill press. Take your time and test fit often as you can't put material back in the sight block. I know DInzag offers this service for the Saiga 308's but I don't see why he couldn't open yours up for you if you don't want to deal with it.
  19. Thanks for all the replys, I really appreciate all of your input. I saw this same auction but I was hesitant due to the sellers location. Perhaps I'll wing it and purchase some of the black mags and see what happens. Thanks again.
  20. I recently picked up a 223 calibered Saiga with plans of installing an AR to AK mag adapter. Owning a couple of AR's and Saiga's in every caliber I've decided to leave it as an AK and not a hybrid. After extensive reading/researching magazines for the 223 it seems the Polish Beryl magazines are preferred and work well with a little finessing. Now if only I could find a source for them, does anyone know where these magazines could be purchased and are there different variations for these magazines? I understand there are several other magazine options available but again from what I've r
