  1. One other option GF may be to just post a WTB on Gunbroker, Armslist, and as many gun trading forums that you can find with the same request you posted here. Worse case scenario, you hear crickets back, but you may just get lucky.
  2. Good job to you and your wife DLT. Congratulations to him for the hard work and perseverance he displayed to earn such an honor.
  3. With all due respect Mike, and you have much more experience than me, but I have not met anything close to a 7-8 lb Tapco G2 FCG in a stock or aftermarket AK even with stock Comblock hammer springs. 3 lbs with a mile of travel should be more like it, unless they are going with much heavier hammer springs, and if so why?
  4. ...or taking your time and making sure that emotion isn't guiding your decision to marry the first time. Principles are something that should not change. Finding someone whose principles and values are founded in the truth that marriage and fidelity is a lifelong commitment is desirable IMHO over a contract, which I also believe is acknowledging failure at the onset. I know this thread has gotten way off topic. That was not my intention, and I will say no more other than good luck GF and post up pics of your build when completed.
  5. Well your about to have a new NiB bolt and carrier on the way. Is you address the same? Congrats on getting married. Thanks. I'll be married at the end of August, unless she comes to her senses first. She's a great fit for me and I am very blessed to have the love of a woman who is so reasonable and stable (other than choosing me). We are doing everything we can to have any speedbumps and conflicts identified and resolved before they get run through the amplifier of lifetime commitment. So far it's amazingly smooth. And thank you very much. I'm not very good at handling this kind of ge

  7. I believe that love is not a feeling, it is an act of your will. We choose to love or not, in spite of circumstances. As men we are designed to be leaders. Evls roles post is spot on. My love for my wife grows, not because she deserves it, but because I choose to love her despite when I feel she is wrong, or I do not get the respect I feel I deserve. Consequently when I treat her this way, I find that she tends to respect me more, not less. In this way our love and respect for one another deepens. I know this is not a fairytale world, and there are instances where people, many times because th
  8. Nonsense. After 20 years they blame us for everything. As I type this I am being blamed by my wife of 24 years for my 18 year old daughter's runny frosting for cupcakes for her teachers right before graduation. When asked what I am doing, and informing her I am on the Saiga forum, I was told I am turning into a social media junky. (I hate social media and she knows it) I love her more now than ever, even when she gets on my nerves.
  9. You will be happy with it. I still think that FSB in combination with the Bulgarian brake is one of the best recoil tamers on the planet.
  10. I am shocked they have them in stock, they go out of stock often.
  11. My apologies DLT, I gave you some bad information in my post. After getting home and looking at the FSB, it was NOT pinned, just dimpled, and I had to drill out the dimples and make a vertical cut down the bottom of the FSB to get it to move. I apologize for the misinformation. I done a lot of these, and unfortunately sometimes I get them confused on what was what. Sucks getting old. Either way, the recommendations on getting it off have been solid. Not that big of a deal just take your time.
  12. I am not sure if the forum has the pic attachment issue fixed yet. I haven't been able to attach a pic since the website came back up. But if I can I will shoot you a pic of the pinned and dimpled FSB that I had to remove for the Kushnapup .223 I did. It will at least give you an ideal of what you'd be looking at for removal.
  13. Unfortunately it should have both pins and dimples. Try MMs solution first, but I seriously doubt you will move it. Apart from that you will have to remove the front sight. Doing so will require you to drill out or mill the blind side of the pins (Mine was pinned, but the pins did not come all the way through, so I had to remove metal to expose the pins to drive them out. Once done, tackle the dimples with a larger drill bit than the dimple diameter. Mark the thickness of the FSB with tape on the tip of the drill bit. Go slow, alternating sides. In between use a sturdy vice, and an edger blade
  14. My favorite part is watching that can of Rem-oil doing the percussion dance on the table every time you pull the trigger in the opening of the video. Looks like too much fun!
  15. While I appreciate your point of view, I love my dog more than a tax stamp, did not build the SBR as an investment, and have permanent roots invested where I am. I have three SBRs, will I do another one? Probably not so long as braces stay legal and as well as shouldering them. (I wouldn't hold my breath on either of those in the long term future) Additionally the purpose for this particular SBR was to accommodate a suppressor. I have found the actual adjustable stock affords me better balance and ergonomics than shouldering a shorter brace. With some of the PDW pistol braces out that might ch
  16. Building a 10-22 from the receiver up gets my vote. It was my first real gun project. I on the other hand tore down a perfectly good brand new 10-22 to the receiver. Even though it was more expensive that way, it added to the "before and after" and I learned more. (Including a couple of new cuss words getting the factory barrel out.) another option would be to look for a used 10-22 to be torn down. Everything but the receiver and bolt is going to be replaced anyway. A myriad of aftermarket parts and so many configurations to choose from. Good luck. Sounds like it will be great bonding time
  17. Congrats on a great price. All the Pawn shops around my area must think they are Arsenals.
  18. Braces are back in business again! FTR, where was the NRA or GOA on this one? Either way, great news.
  19. No worries, we are all always the weakest link given a quality rifle, scope, and ammunition. Wish I could help but I am self taught knowing the distance, bullet drop for my loads, and doing the math to make my own charts so I know how many inches and clicks to adjust for a given range. I too am looking forward to watching the videos on this thread and the ones suggested by Darth on your rifle thread. Thank you for the post. It should be educational for all of us.
  20. IMHO, you are paying extra for the upgraded stock. As an owner of a Savage 10 FCP-SR, Which is also one of their lower priced options in the 10 series, I have had one range trip where I got 2-3" groups with Tul 147 grains to sight and break in, followed by 1/2" five shot groups with 178 gr Hornady AMAX over 41.5 grains of Varget. Still want to play around with additional charges and powders. 4064 should work up some nice loads as well. Point being...if the rifle is shooting sub 1/2" groups, or on your case .30" groups on a true 3 shot cloverleaf, then why would I need anything else? Not tellin
  21. I am so sorry for your loss. Your Dad sounds like wonderful man, that loved you dearly. Take solace in knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord that he served so faithfully. From your description it sounds like great is the reward he has stored up in heaven. May the peace of Jesus be upon you during this difficult time.
