  1. I don't have any interest in watching sports. I'd rather read than watch tv. I only drink once every few years (and it's usually alone). I go out in the deep woods for a week or more alone and prefer it that way. My friends know that I probably will not show up for a party but if they're workin on their house I'm happy to be there workin with em. I don't celebrate any holidays and prefer to work em (the guys I work with love this). I carry a loaded gun, all the time, in NYS. And, like Captain Hero, I'm a creepy ginger!
  2. I spend a lot of time in the Adirondacks and have found patches but you can't harvest off state land and only after Labor Day on private land. It's still fun to study up on wild greens, not enough do.
  3. "There is no reason to be insulting; unless you really are just trolling." This is what us members from California, Massachusetts, NewYork, and Illinois were thinking.
  4. I like it. Good reading material as well. The best books come with templates. :-)
  5. I can move if I want. I own my home. I've got a good job and could get similar work in another state.I could probably keep my home here and get another in some gun friendly state. I'm not that old and I have no children. I'm choosing to stay in spite of tyranny. Staying to back up other free NYers. Staying to do what's right when it needs to be done. I feel more free than those that choose to pack up and run. You guys that run didn't make that choice, you allowed tyranny to chase you away from your home.
  6. Best idea so far. Maybe introduce someone to shooting.... Or skydiving...
  7. Welcome to the forum. NYS here as well, way north of Albany.
  8. You should post a pic. I'm on a phone and don't know how to do it on this thing. Fun game by the way.
  9. I would not throw patches in the dryer. They're small and could jam into places they could start a fire. I can't imagine drying em on a clothesline.
  10. And even if you've done a certain job a hundred times and someone offers you advice don't ever say "I got this". Listen to them and say thanks. Be ready to see a lot of naked inmates (strip frisks) and poke through feces (contraband watches). Don't shit talk other officers even if whoever you're talkin to agrees, I've seen a bunch of this and it's just childish. I just transferred home and an officer I knew 20 years ago (we used to fight a lot) decided to motherfuck me behind my back. Unfortunately he did this to some officers that knew me and he wound up looking pretty foolish and unprofessi
  11. Nice! My sister is in Northport and just bought a ja22. I wish she had bought something alittle bigger but I'm happy that she did this on her own initiative. I'll have to get down there to shoot with her this winter, maybe do some shoppin. Good job helpin your friend out!
  12. Alright, I'll admit it... Me and some of the other frozenbrains stashed it behind PK hill. We're sick of the state housing... Had to do it....
  13. Hmmm. Just went there, seems to be working fine. Even has posts going back over 2 years.
  14. I'm surprised they can't. There are several in my department that write off weapons and ammunition as training. I'm going to look into it this year but maybe Yeoldtool knows more about that. I'm not sure if its limited to department firearms.
  15. Nice! Be another 24 before I can get mine back. Not quite that epic but I still miss it.
  16. This is spot on. If there were a choice for indifference I woulda chosen that. I had the original Nintendo back in the early 80's but started workin when I was 11 and never looked back. I don't think games are silly, just not my thing. My wife bought me one a few years back. I played with it for 2 days then put it back in the box, eventually gave it away.
  17. Not to sidetrack your thread but I've been doing solo camping for over 20 years now (pretty much if I'm not workin I'm in the woods). I go all 4 seasons up to a week at a stretch and I stopped packing a tent along time ago. I do carry a waterproof bivy sack but its no bigger than a can of pop and weighs only a few ounces. I think a tent is not needed and takes up valuable space that could be used for more important gear.
  18. I'll have to search but I remember reading about a guy who was using the casings as the projectile. Can't remember how effective it was but it was pretty cool.
  19. F'n awesome! I like to think that could have been a younger obama.
  20. I bought a compound Barnett rhino sport around 7 years ago for about $400. I put a red dot scope on it for another $100. It's got a 150# draw and can send 20" bolts around 275 fps. I don't hunt with it but have used it on a few skunks over the years instead of firing a gun after dark. It's fun to shoot. I am overdue for a new string and you gotta use lube on the string (looks like Chapstick). They do make some noise but there are silencers available that mount to the limbs.
