  1. Until you get Beaver Fever (maybe this needs to be in Beaver Shot topic) Creek water is fine but remeber Fish screw in it. You need to boil it at least. ditto on that. I spend alot of time in what's supposed to be pristene wilderness and got that when I was 13 from drinking out of a brook way off the beaten path. I still won't drink untreated water in the woods, the time sick isn't worth the time saved for me.
  2. This might sound dumb but I just converted mine and used the original bho and spring with out modification to the bho or safety. Everything is working fine. Is there an added benefit to this mod or was it an issue with older saigas? I'm just curious. Thanks.
  3. Don't sell your guns but do build more. Firearms are collectible and their value will generally go up. Think of what they'll be worth 50 years from now. You could pass them on to family or make retirement alittle easier.
  4. That was cool! Thanks for the link. I'm gonna go check out the wife's back hair before she wakes up.
  5. In New York once you load that blackpowder it's considered a firearm like any other and all laws apply.
  6. I just finished mine and I believe the spring you mentioned was the original retainer spring. Did you get a retaining plate or a sheperd's crook with your conversion? Thanks as well to all the experience in this thread, made things alot simpler
  7. I've got a sar1 and a wasr10. I think I got the wasr in 05. I have a bunch of newer and older 30rds I use in both guns. Three years ago I had a douche calling the state police on us when we shot. They came three times and checked out my guns and had no problems. They were pretty cool every time and after the third visit never bothered me again. As far as being legal I thought it was but now you got me wondering.
  8. I didn't even think about that until your post. That's horrible, I hope your wife is ok.
  9. Nice! I've been finding some nice wood and skilled woodbutchers on this site, I wish it was all in one thread. I wasn't in a rush to convert my 12 but after seeing some of the furniture you guys are making my parts are ordered. I had about 2000 bf of maple sawn last summer, one of the trees gave me a 32" burl, but that can't be touched for a few years . I also put about 200' of maple in an unstickered stack under a tarp in an attempt to spalt it (no mold yet) before getting it to the kiln. Now I keep dreaming about a spalted maple thumbhole stock this year and a solid burl bullpup in about 5 y
  10. I was in the er 2 weeks ago with some weird alternating pain and numbness in my side. Lucky me, I got shingles, yay! Anyway, while the nurse was checking me out the theme music to mash started blairing over the ceiling speakers. It took them a minute or two to shut it down on their computer. They looked alittle embarrassed about it so when I stopped laughing I assured them it was great. Everyone there was very pleasant, I did not require any pain meds but the doctor did ask.
  11. Stupid Assholes in both videos. Stupid for what they did with their weapons and assholes for putting the video on the net. Now some twat can cry "those should be illegal" and have a video to back it up.
  12. I placed an order late last night and I got a discount, received a confirmation, and it shipped this morning. That's pretty Damn fast if you ask me. Last order was quick too.
  13. I just saved $15 on my order, that's more than I donated to this forum... so far. Thanks Mississippi and thanks Saiga forum. This is sweet.
  14. Good to know. I was wondering about that , I've done some wacky things so I wasn't gonna judge .
  15. I don't think I need to torch it, it was just the tip of the shell and my gun did chamber it alright. This is my first s12 and I haven't fired it enough to have absolute faith in it's reliability...yet. It may become my go-to gun someday but I need to get more use with it and develop that trust. Until then I have to use what I'm most comfortable with.
  16. Damn! You got me! I knew I wouldn't fool everyone with that pic (it's actually a photoshop of my dog). I just didn't think anyone would catch on so quickly. Guess I'd have to get up pretty early in the afternoon to slip one by you. Next time I'll do a better job.
  17. I have the same. One hole is partially covered. It shoots buck and slug fine. I don't use it for birdshot and only tried a few rounds through it on setting 2, it worked.
  18. I've got 2 buddies who are VT corrections officers and they both think it's hilarious, so do I.
  19. It's a cool idea but I wouldn't do it in the shop, drunk. Hope it heals ok.
  20. 10rd mag loaded with 8 rds of alternating 2 3/4" remington 7/8oz slugs and remington express 00buck against a closed bolt for about 3 weeks. Bolt was lightly sanded and polished but not reprofiled. Only the tip was deformed, ran calipers down the rest of the shell and it was fine. I chambered the round with no problems (not to say that the potential for it to hang up isn't there. I normally leave the bolt open and I don't know why it was closed but saw the results and figured I'd post em.
