. Question.. Is the bonesteel folder supposed to have a diagnol cut on the base? It looks like this is meant to go on a receiver that has an angled cut. My Vepr 12 doesn't have that and it won't go in past the slant on the folder.. Edit: Yea I'm pretty sure this is what happened.. I'm kind of pissed off. Damn tapco stock still won't budge after removing two screws. I'm starting to mar it up by trying to push it out with a screw driver + hammer.

So is there a proper instruction set or manual anywhere for how this process is to be done? Out of the box the folder from Bonesteel is covered in grease\cosmoline and I cannot get it to fold. There are two screws, one of which I know goes into the rear of the Vepr 12 receiver to hold it in. The other I have no idea what it does. At first I thought maybe it locked the folder into place when shipping- but even after removing it I cannot get the thing to budge by pressing on the actuation button. I've removed the screw from the tapco stock my Vepr came with- but the thing is stuck. I'm not

Is it just the plastic parts that require filing? Or the metal?

Aeromat, how did you install that Hogue AK handguard on the Vepr? I thought that stuff was incompatible with the RPK style Vepr's?

So what's the deal here about the rear trunion? Cycling buck shot or slugs is risky or abusive to the system? And a rubber recoil insert isn't a good idea at all? Seems like a cheap way to prevent any kind of damage imo, just in case.

Why put chokes on it anyway? From what I've read (and seen) chokes don't make almost any difference for shotguns with a barrel this short (18-19inches).

How long are the barrels of the US imported Veprs? I've heard inconsistent figures about this. Ranging from 18, to 19 to 20.25inches. Anybody know for certain?

Would there be any reason for them not to ship more? I mean after all, all 1000 sold out fairly quickly. To me, this is indicative of a 'successful' venture. Molot would do well to keep pumping them into the US market and offer spare parts. And the US would do equally well to keep buying them lol. I think another side effect of this might be, (other factors not withstanding given I don't know them all) a general decrease in S12 prices given the sheer bang for your buck the Vepr 12's represent by comparison. All in all, everybody wins here.

That's the left side of the firearm. The Vepr 12's should have an ambi safety selector if I remember right, and should be imported with it to the US. The right side of the Vepr has a traditional AK safety with a thumb safety integrated into it. As shown here:

My thoughts exactly. Also Vulgotha, where did you read the pasted block of text? The guy sounds like a bARFCOM poster. Of all places, 4chan /k/ thread (weapons). And yea, I've looked into this a bit and have seen alot of cracked carriers for the S12 talked about on this very forum. The jerk armorer\smith said this is due to americans 'overgassing' their guns and abusing the weapon. Even still, I don't want to trash my Vepr y'know? replacement parts will be extremely rare or expensive.. So if you know of any reason why his statements are incorrect I'd love to know. Or

"The Vepr 12 is gonna be the same as a Saiga12, but with rails and a thicker receiver. The ticker receiver doesn't matter by the way. The Saiga 12s use a thick receiver as well. Molot doesnt make higher quality shit by any means. If you didn't know, Russia makes its guns in its large factory complexes. No, I didn't say that. They are just different. The obvious answer is always, get both;-) "Just different" but having a borked or only semi-functional gas system.. To me, does not sound like it is merely different. Inferior. Even if only slightly. Unless this 'closed' gas system has its perks? That's what I'm asking. Bottom line what does the 030 gas system bring to the table to make it "different" instead of markedly worse. I'm just trying to wrap my head around this is all, I don't mean to come across like a massive nub.

Alright.. So I'm kind of hoping the Vepr 12's hit stateside soon. I know they're in the process of being brought over, but who knows how long this could take. (As an aside, does anybody know how the latest Saiga 12's compare to the Veprs?? It seems like they have alot of the same features.. Anything really outstanding between the two?) So I'm in the market for a new model Saiga 12. What I'm confused about is the difference(s) between 030 and 040 models. Is there anything substantial? I heard that the 030's don't have a variable gas system.. From what I understand, on shotguns, isn't t
