I have Chinese, Bulgarian and E. German 30 round steel mags that fit and function in my AK47 and all 10 of them work in my Saiga as well with no problem. All i did was to install a feed ramp and very lightly file (@ 10 strokes) the under side of the lug on the backside of the mag.

I had zero experience converting a rifle of any kind when I did my conversion. Just follow the Shieks How-To and you won't have any problems. Here is a pic of my conversion.

THe open sight on my Saiga 7.62 X 39 were right on at 100 yards. I was spinning iron plates with no problem.

I have two 4x32 riflescopes. One Tasco Omni-View with 30/30 reticle. One Bushnell Sport View with crosshair reticle. Both of these scopes were mounted on hunting rifles that have accounted for several deer and a wild boar. They are like new and have never been abused. There are a few small scratches from the scope rings though. Would you be interested in one of them?

If you look carefully at your scope mount you will see where the screws that would allow you to physically move parts of the mount by loosening them are secured by pins thru the mount frame. What you have to do is remove these pins from the mount and before you adjust windage and elevation with the scope internal adjustments, bore sight the scope by physically moving it's parts. Secure the screws with locktite so they won't come loose then sight in normally.

I had a MK 4 Jungle Carbine that was unbelievably accurate. Would put 5 shots in the same hole at 100yds. In fact it was the most accurate centerfire rifle I've ever owned.

The water is what washes out the corrosive salts. The ammonia gets rid of copper fouling.

Why does the picture have to be of the left side? Most of the Saigas I've seen here are 16 inch barrel versions. You would have to make sure that you got a picture of a Saiga with a longer barrel. This photo is from the importers web site.

File the magazine catch on the rifle until 30rd mags fit. ( you will only have to remove a slight amount, so take it slow) Your Saiga 10rd mag will still work. If you modify the magazine itself you will have to modify every mag you have they may or may not work in a regular AK anymore. BATf frowns on it if they don't.

GOB: Nothing wrong with the Vulcan receivers and they have a nice matte blue finish They require very little fitting to work quite well with the AMD63 parts kit. Only problem with Vulcan receivers is that the ejector rails need to be heat treated. However, I've heard on the latest ones that problem has been addressed. Ohio Ordinance Works also makes a AK receiver that is quite good. Problem with it is that the hole for the Safety/selector lever is not quite in the correct position but that is easy to fix as well. There are many forums on the net for various weapon types including FALs, AKs, HKs, UZIs, etc. Just think if all of these members and builders were doing something illegal, what a field day the BATF would have arresting and charging every one of them.
