  1. M777A2 Howitzer. MK19 was a bitch too. I do airsoft repairs for friends and its complicated fiddly stuff. Upgrades are something most people, even 'techs' screw up. Most parts have to be fit to the gun, carefully. A gearbox rebuild takes me about an hour, but it will only preform to rated speed of the spring. If I take three hours and fit every single part, I can get an extra 3 rounds a second and 15-30 fps above rated speed. My current main gun is around 40K+ rounds and is still going strong, at roughly 380fps and 20+ rounds a second. This is roughly how far you go into a r36c
  2. Here's some stuff I've shot at that has a cool effect: Propane tanks next to candles Silly string Spray paint cans Cans of shaving cream Tannerite (obviously) VHS tapes (tape goes flying everywhere!) Gallon jugs of water I just got one those fancy little gopro cameras! I want to do some shooting at 240 frames per sec and put it in slowmo and see how it looks. Any other cool ideas?
  3. I have a limbsaver pad on my S12 tromix stock, and its magnificent. Definitely kept my shoulder from getting sore after firing a TON of slugs and other high power shells. Limbsaver makes a lot of pads for numerous stocks, and they have a universal 'grind to fit' one that can be mounted to stocks they don't make one for. Its actually the only stock pad I've ever had, but I like it. It is actually just glued on the back of the buttstock with "plumbers goop" which hold it extremely well, but if you TRY to remove it, you can get it separated, and you can peel like rubbery glue off like rubber ceme
  4. Hahaha I came across this guys youtube channel a little while ago. Fucking hilarious
  5. If it is an insufficient pre crimp, then I cant really do anything about it on the load all press. It only goes so far. Edit: I didn't know you can adjust it. I'll look into trying that. I am following the loads exactly, and it does it for a few different loads I've tried with these hulls. I may just stop using them. I haven't used remington hulls yet, but I'll give them a shot soon. The federal gold medal hulls have all been loading and crimping very well, so I'll keep using them too.
  6. Has anyone had this issue? I'm using a lee load all press, and I've been loading AA hulls, and federal gold medal hulls. I don't have any problems with the federal hulls even with very similar loads. But its pretty common that when I put the final crimp on the AA hulls I get a fold or buckle like in the picture. Whats up with this?
  7. I've never seen or heard of that before. I wonder why they chose for it to mount on the side of the receiver as well? I would be concerned that it would add too much rigidity holding the gun straight when in needs to flex. It may not, but it definitely seems like a possibility.
  8. I think thats what my issue is! The screw does stick out a bit. I cycled some ammo by hand with and without the sight on, and playing back in slo mo, you can see the rounds hitting the knob. I'll adjust, and run a bunch of cheap shit through my gun when I have another chance to see if for sure this is all thats causing grief. Here's vid of the slo mo if yall want to see it. (I talk til about 0:55 if you want to skip that) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAIKt_ZAW30
  9. Yeah I've heard the UTG side mount isn't bad and holds a zero. They sell it at Carolina Shooter Supply, and they don't carry shitty stuff as far as I can tell, but I guess I have a bias against anything UTG due to all the bad vibes about them from the forum I just went ahead and got the Midwest Industries AKSM on ebay. I would have preferred the RS Regulate setup, as it looks slick and more lightweight, but the price difference was a little too much for me to go for that one instead. I'm excited to try this thing! I'll post pics when it gets here.
  10. I started to lean toward the RS regulate one for $120 bucks even though its more pricey, then I found out you need an add-on depending on the optic for another $60. Yikes. 60 is a little pricey for that tiny picitanny piece.
  11. Do any of these mounts allow you to field strip without removing the mount?
  12. YES! That would be magnificent
  13. Searching on the forum, I found a couple threads about side mounts on rifles, but not so much for the shotties. I think I'm gonna try one out. Any of you guys use one on your S12? It looks like the RS regulate, Kalinka BP-02, and the Kvar 04 are popular for the rifles. How are they on a shotgun? Also, I've never handled a saiga rifle. Is the receiver more narrow than that of an S12? If so, does that make these mounts sit a little funky on an S12?
  14. Based on these forums, its pretty apparent to me that just about EVERYONE who gets one, has a problem with UTG rails, because they put pressure on top of the gas system. CHAOS rails on the other hand do not even touch the top of the gas tube or gas block. You can also tell at a glance chaos rails are much higher quality. Customer service with Chaos has impressed me so far. Heard a lot of stories to the contrary with UTG.
  15. Ok! I got to the range and did some firing today. No good news. I tried firing with the crush washers on, and it didnt seem to make a difference. I tried again and put some fresh new crush washers on, and this time only tightened the screws down until I started feeling ANY resistance whatsoever. They were on very loose, hardly on at all. Still, I had FTEs about every 5 shots. After test firing a bit, the screws had unscrewed themselves even more since there was almost no torque holding them in the first place. I had a Burris Fastfire III red dot on the back of the top rail. (which is about
  16. This just doesnt make sense to me. Looking at this quadrail, the top half isn't even touching the gas tube, or the gas block. (Which I hear is the problem with the UTG rails) It doesnt appear to touch ANYTHING except the bottom tri rail, but for some reason having it on causes the malfunctions, but when I take it off and just leave the tri rail, it fires without flaw. When you say to put on the crush washers, you mean just under the screws like in this pic? I'll give it a shot, but I cannot see how it could possibly make a difference. By the way, even before putting these washers on, I wa
  17. Called Chaos tech support and talked to Cameron. He quickly suggested that my gas block was slightly twisted and I can fix the problem by getting 4 crush washers to put under the screws for my rail and that should fix it. I'll try it and let you all know what happens.
  18. Have you installed aftermarket furniture? Different stock or handguard?
  19. I don't think its my Autoplug, as I've had the issue before I got it. It runs perfectly fine too, just not with the upper rail mounted. I've screwed the autoplug down pretty far with the rail on too, but it doesn't compensate enough for whatever the rail is doing. I've gotten a lot of upgraded parts to try to make it work with the rail including CSS puck, CSS recoil spring, JTE performance guide rod, I've opened up the ports, and I've done some polishing too. My saiga ran the cheap stuff perfectly even when everything was factory. Even with the performance boosters I've added since I got the r
  20. I went and shot my Saiga again today, and there is no doubt at all now that the upper half of the Chaos quadrail is the cause of my constant FTEs. My auto gas plug has been on the same setting, and will fire a 20 round drum of winchester universal (cheap walmart ammo) flawlessly with no handguard at all. It also fires without any problems when I have only the bottom half of my extended rail, (the tri-rail) mounted. As soon as I mount the top half, I have FTEs again, with the cheap stuff as well as the buckshot and slugs I was using. I drilled out a hole for the vent as seen in my previous post
  21. On this subject of lee slugs, I have tried several of the recipes that came with the mold. Most of the ones I have tried will not hold a crimp. The only one I've tried so far that did, is the Fed gold medal hull, 209 primer, 34 grains of Herco powder, and WAA12 wad. It crimped good, and stayed. Others I follow the exact recipe, and even if I trim the wad, the slug itself starts pushing the crimp open. Its like theres just too much stuff trying to fit in there. I find it odd that these Lee-official recipes would have such a constant issue. Am I overlooking something? suggestions?
  22. did you play with your auto plug after drilling the rail? how far is in is set screw for your auto plug mine is almost bottomed out. have you done any polishing or reprofiling ? I just looked at my auto plug again, after shooting, and noticed the adjustment screw has unscrewed itself about a full turn. I didn't notice at the range. Is that a common issue with the autoplug? I guess its back to the range. again. I'll keep an eye on the plug, and if thats the issue keeping me from the bliss of a reliable saiga, I'll have to loctite it in its sweet spot. If taking it off fixes it,
  23. Microsoft pissed me off with their plans to squeeze out maximum profit by making it impossible, or at least a pain, to borrow or share games with friends, and their hope to kill the market for used games. Sony doesn't seem to be participating in such douchebaggery. I'll probably cave and buy an Xbox one when the new Halo comes out though.
