  1. I've just been thinking about stocking some spare parts, just in case I can't get them someday. For my AR-15 I've acquired some extras over the years, (springs, firing pins, bolt, etc) I figure I should get some backup parts for my S12 too. What are some of the parts that you believe are likely to need replacement down the road? Also, does anyone sale just a bolt?
  2. I have one cause I was having FTE issues and thought it might fix it. It didn't. But having spare parts is never a bad thing. It doesn't hold the springs together like the stock one when it's removed. So it's just slightly more difficult to reassemble after cleaning or whatever. But it's not that big of a deal. Personally I have noticed absolutely no performance improvement when shooting, but in your hand you can tell its a little bit smoother with smaller tolerances between the moving parts
  3. Tromix Mini Monster Brake. I have the Tromix Monster Claw, which is basically that brake, but with the breaching points for maximum awesome
  4. Full time student who gets paid to go to school (thanks to the G.I. Bill), and I work at an Urgent Care medical clinic as a receptionist part time.
  5. Thanks for letting us know! I have one already, and i just ordered another one. Even though I dont have the money for it. might be my only chance
  6. Lots of good info here. Thanks guys. Its gonna be a couple paychecks down the road, but once I get it done I'll post pics
  7. Vendor?????????? Why middle man in? Deal with the manufacturer; http://lauerweaponry.com/ I like that idea! I wasn't aware who the actual makers of the stuff were. Is the duracoat you bake better? I would assume it is since theres an extra step in its application...
  8. Who is a reputable vendor to buy the stuff from?
  9. Haha I was kidding. Arctic Camo for me would serve very little purpose other than looking cool and if I did need to use my saiga in a "real life" situation someday where its color mattered, I'd probably be okay spraying some rust olem green or black over it .
  10. I'm thinking about getting my receiver duracoated either white, or an arctic camo of some kind. I'm moving to antarctica so I think it would be a great idea. Or maybe I just want to do it cause it would look badass. I would leave my stock, grips, quad rail, and barrel black. I'm concerned that a matte white may be hard to keep relatively clean, I also don't know how durable it would actually be. Anyone have any experience in this stuff?
  11. Thanks for all the info guys. I think I'll try to get in touch with this pauly guy and see what he can do.
  12. Ok there is some wear in those areas. Heres some better pics. When I work the bolt in the carrier by hand, I don't feel any extra friction, it feels smooth as butter. Maybe when its inside the gun that changes? I'll polish it up and see if that makes a difference http://imageshack.us/a/img600/3231/p1030038u.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img855/4376/p1030037k.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img22/4110/p1030039a.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img502/1872/p1030041v.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img819/9482/p1030040g.jpg
  13. I'm a technican by trade, so forgive my questions if they seem so basic they are insulting. I like to rule out the obvious: -Are you using a stock gas plug? Setting 1 or 2? (I know that's obvious, lower brass, higher gas) -did you check your gas ports yourself with a dental pick (or equivalent, a stripped twist tie will do)? -can you hear your gas puck knocking back and forth when it's empty and you rotate the gun? -are you catching anywhere inside? -Have you tried multiple mags, all with the same issue? -when you strip it down do you see any burrs in the action or along any of the rails
  14. Checked it, and its perfectly straight. Thanks for bringing that up though. I definitely appreciate all input and suggestions
  15. Yeah I explained I just wanted it fixed. The smith reccomended enlarging the gas ports. He said that most saigas dont get enough gas, and enlarging them slightly wouldn't harm anything, but would make it more reliable in cycling low brass. Your statement is logical, and obviously now I know for sure its something else. I took everything apart and looked at it again, there are no missing/protruding pins. I did notice my op rod wobbles slightly. I dont remember if it was ever 100% solid. Is it normal for it to wiggle in the carrier a little bit? Yeah I'll get so
  16. I have a Magpul AFG. Works great for a shotgun and doesnt take much stress from recoil based on its angled design
  17. Ok I'll give that a shot Only FTE. Ive never had a FTF. The springs are completely intact
  18. I'm in Salt Lake city, Utah. There's a very reputable guy nearby who did the work on my gas ports, he thought that would fix the issue. Haven't been able to get ahold of him though the last couple weeks (probably due to the chaos of the market right now) his gunsmithing consists almost entirely with custom saiga 12s. Its definitely not dirty, I'll have a look and see if any pins look off when I get home from work tonight. My thoughts have me thinking that something was bent or altered when I fired those slugs with too much gas. What would be likely to bend or get damaged with too much
  19. I got my s12 a while ago and coverted it. I could run wal-mart federal/winchester target loads flawlessly. I could completely dump a 20 round drum without any cycling issues. I did this many times. This changed the first time I used high brass. I shot 5 magnum slugs through it, but forgot to turn the gas down. Ever since, it will not cycle low brass (the exact same ones I've used before) even with the gas all the way open. Could shooting powerful shells with the gas too high somehow damaged it? (Even stock, all 3 gas ports were unobstructed. This was not a vodka gun.) To attempt to fix
