  1. This is exactly the thing that drives newbies like myself crazy!I'd be perfectly happy with just adding a PG, and leaving the rest of the rifle stock to begin. It was my understanding that a pistol grip made it "Non-Sporting", and required more American made parts. Your assertion is that it doesn't, and I'm not challenging you on the point, but that's where the confusion comes in! I swear, I believe the politicians WANT our laws and regulations to be as nebulous and hard to understand as possible, otherwise, they would have a harder time nailing us on minutiae.
  2. Nice job, SGT Raven! I've been following your build. I'm partial to the Midwest Ind. forearm that The Grudge used, too.http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/73677-new-to-saigajust-as-new-to-the-ak-platform/
  3. Which buttstock did you use? I like the looks of yours much better than the Tapco and some others.Very partial to the Red Jacket Skeleton stock, also.
  4. Personally, I think the MAIN thing that will happen on Dec 21 is, the Discovery and History channels will have to come up with something ELSE to run into the ground!Jeez, seems like every weekend is an "Apocalypse Marathon" on one of them, they've built more programming out of the Mayan calendar than anything in history.Of course, all this coverage will have some nutcases ready to snap (Heaven's Gate ring a bell?), so anything could happen out there, but not because of that calender They're doing their best to make it a self-fulfilling prophecy. That being said, I plan o being extra prepared f
  5. And the forearm is one piece that sets yours off IMO. I'd been up in the air about which way to go with that area, now I have options! Again, Nice job.
  6. No offense meant! Didn't mean to be lumping your build into any generic terminology, just that Your AK has a very functional, clean look to it, more so than some others I've seen that (only in MY opinion) are a bit more "Dressed Up" Everybody has their own vision, and I'd never put anybody else s down, just that yours really spoke to me! BTW, what's the 6 mo paperwork hold-up? Just curious.
  7. Wow! I'm not a "Tacticool" fanatic, but your conversion has me re-thinking.May have to steal your look when I get mine (if ya don't mind). Very nice AR look. Good job!
  8. That's exactly the kind of info I was hoping to get. Much easier to understand! To be honest, bigger mag is not high on my priority list. May happen down the road, tho. The more I look at pics of other folks .223's, the more ideas I get. This could be dangerous! Thanks, guys.
  9. And I don't even have my Saiga yet! Been busy researching, finding out everything I can, and checking out some of the fine looking pieces in the "Pictures" thread for ideas. Some really beautiful rifles. Don't really have any desire to go "Full Tactical" with mine. Maybe a cool stock, pistol-grip, and some kind of forearm that would give me some rail possibilities. That's where I run into this compliance quagmire. Not sure what pieces I might have to add on to what I want to keep it legal.Been checking out the compliance post, but still not sure. Any good advice? Appreciated in advance!
  10. Newbie from Canton, here. Don't have the .223 I want YET, but I gotta birthday coming up in March!(Hint to wife)
