  1. Finally got to try it out after the conversion today! It works great, and no parts came off! The new stock and pistol grip are terrific! The gun really fits ME now. I must have a "good" one- it ate 3 different kinds of cheap Wally World shells on #2 with NO issues, even with the 10 rnd. mag. Shot the cheap 00 Buck on #1 and it works perfectly, too.
  2. Throughout history whenever a person got branded... it was never a good thing.
  3. I got stuck on that also... I was able to pull the pin that holds the front of the BHO out a little, then push forward on it so the safety would go in. Very frustrating, but I had a hard time with both springs and the shepard's crook, too. Got it done, eventually! (Some NSFW language was used in the process also.)
  4. At what point exactly was it considered a good idea to have inmates making supplies for the Police Dep't.?! I can appreciate the humor in this, but I also know how much work goes into creating something like a trademarked design...

    1st S12

If you fire it like that... Take Video!! Congrats on the new gun, I just got mine last week and did the conversion last night!
  6. Do 2 negatives make a positive? I'm not unsure if they do... For the manual, what size is it? One thing you can do is buy a 3-ring binder that's the right size (or slightly larger), and have a bookstore or publisher (Kinko's, etc.) drill the holes and cut the binding off. Then you can put the manual in the binder, in the right order, and have it lay open and flat if needed. That's probably a bit excessive for a gun manual, but worked great on some shop manuals I've used!
  7. Yep, sounds like you're off to a good start. Going by your first post, if you only have an occasional problem with the cheap stuff, and the good stuff runs just fine... I would not change a thing! For pistol-caliber carbines- I have both an M1 Carbine (with an Ultimak top rail) and a Beretta Storm 9mm. Love 'em both!
  8. A couple extra notes... I used a whetstone to smooth up the flat surfaces because my dang Dremel tool is ... "in a box" ... somewhere. I like the adjustable stock a LOT! This is the first firearm I've owned with one, and I already love it! I have a 35 1/2" arm reach, so it's almost fully extended. Yeah, I'm officially a "knuckle-dragger"... My arm reach is 3" longer than my inseam.
  9. Well, Phase 1 is complete! My Saiga 12 is now 922r compliant, looks better and feels better to use! Thanks to Cadiz for the gun, and thanks to CSS for Conversion Kit#4 in Dark Earth, plus the Magpul Enhanced recoil pad. I took me several hours to do this, since it was my first conversion. I used a whetstone to polish up some of the contact points on the hammer, bolt carrier and bolt. I also took a couple of breaks to watch the CSS videos again. Had a few minor difficulties, but at last I was triumphant! Oh yeah... there's more to come. Just need some more fundage.
  10. Nice! Ported and braked! Serious competition gun, maybe? How do you think that would compare to just having the Monster brake on it? Or is that too muzzle-heavy?
  11. ^ Thanks! I can't always find completed auctions, but I do check for ongoing auctions that are still open and have several bids, so I can see what they are bidding for. No, I don't try to place a value on an auction with NO bids.
  12. ^ No offense intended, but read his post again. He feels that the Monster > Comp > Shark. The Comp model IS the MiniMonster.
  13. Cleaned a couple of the shotguns and got pictures of them... Then it occurs to me that none of these have been fired for ... decades. Literally. I'm going to take them out this weekend and run some rounds through them, so I can say for sure that they actually work! They are all in good condition, and well taken care of. * What is a good way to set a decent price for a used shotgun? I've looked up similar ones on a couple of the auction sites, should that get me close on a starting price?
  14. Covered is in there... we need Smothered!
  15. Check out the threads that YeOldeTool posted above. Try the small/easy adjustments first. I'm not very familiar with the '12 yet, but I get the general impression they just don't like "light" loads. I will be testing various kinds of ammo in mine, to find what it likes. Mine is a 2011, 4-port, and worked okay with the 1300 fps. birdshot loads on setting 2. It did NOT work well with the reloads my Dad used for shooting Trap. I don't have the load-specs for them yet, need to dig out the reloading records...
  16. I say we take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

    Bayonets?

The Rule of the Bayonet: The man with the bullet wins.
  18. I went to the gun show in Dayton, OH last Saturday and found Tom Cole from Cadiz there! Came out with a brand-new Saiga 12! In my excitement, I completely forgot to check for magazines...
  19. Sorry, there's no model number... It's just a black, nylon, ambidextrous, pancake holster. I think it cost less than $20! The thumb-strap has velcro adjustments on both sides and a snap release. It is very comfortable and secure! I've never tried the grips you have on there, but the rubbery stock grips (and the weight) make it surprisingly pleasant to shoot with full-bore .357 magnum loads.
  20. Thanks for the info, guys! Give me a couple days to get some pics up, and try to figure out what prices to put on them...?
  21. I've had an SP101 for several years now. Mine's all-stock and I love that lil' gun! It's one of my frequent ccw choices. I have an Uncle Mike's pancake holster for it, and barely notice I'm carrying it. I especially like how many choices of ammo you have for it.
  22. Question: I'm considering selling some of the other shotguns from my collection, and I have never used any of the gun auction sites before... Does anyone have experience with this? What are the best practices? I am primarily concerned about properly/legally shipping the gun, and hoping to ensure a gun I sell goes to a legal buyer. Would it be a good idea for me to only ship to an FFL and have them handle the transfer? Any advice about this would be greatly appreciated! I've bought and sold a couple things from Ebay before, but have not sold a gun online yet...
  23. My friend TTMR and I were breaking-in my new Saiga 12 yesterday. He has a '74 Brake on one of his 12's. We each fired 5 rnds of 00 buckshot with, then without the brake on our guns, and the brake DID give a "noticeable" reduction in recoil. I couldn't really quantify the difference, but there was an improvement in felt recoil with the brake on it. I am also very interested in seeing some kind of a comparison test with the various "muzzle attachments! I'm considering one of the PolyChokes, or the Mini-Monster for my build... Need to sell some other shotty's first for some cash, though.
  24. Oh, by the way... It works great! Now I just need to sell a few shotguns I don't use, and start gathering the parts I want for this project.
