  1. After inserting the new piston should I just drill it and then put a rivet in it. I thought I read somewhere a long time ago about someone tapping the outside and just putting a flush head screw in or something. If I need a rivet, where do I get one?
  2. Never paid much attention but after reading some stuff on the interweb, I think my Siaga piston might be peened rather than riveted.
  3. I may. Are the dates and locale posted on BS?
  4. Man, they just let anybody in here! Thanks man! Hope to come down again for the next build!
  5. A few years back, someone posted on here the best way to change out the gas piston. I've decided to do this on a couple of my rifles, but I can't find the thread anywhere. Anybody know the location of that tutorial? Edited to add: I'm referring to changing the gas piston on a x39 and a .223 Saiga, not the shotguns.
  6. http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/detail.aspx?ID=818 How is this one?
  7. Who makes a decent low rise side mount that is quick release and will stand up to the recoil of a 308 Saiga? links would be great!
  8. Waiting for this to be available then will buy it and a 223 adapter
  9. The traditional bore sighters won't work on an AK system because the scope mounts much higher than a traditional rifle. Think of how close to the barrel a regular rifle has it's scope. Now look at your Saiga and see how high the scope would sit even if you were able to mount it to the gas tube. Add to that, even the lowest side mount AK mounts adds even more hight to where the scope will sit. The optical bore sighters won't work, you'll never be able to get them high enough to see it through the scope. I went down to the local sporting goods shop and bought a multi-caliber laser bore sigh
  10. I want one of these: http://www.hr1871.com/Firearms/ShotgunsAnd...es/survivor.asp It has a 22" Bull Barrel but I want to cut it down to around 16". I have heard (NOT VERIFIED) that it has a 1:9 1/2 twist rate. Wtih that twist rate, would it be enough to stabilize a bullet in a 16" bbl?
  11. You have all been trolled from the very begining of this thread. If he knows how to break down an AK and tell if the "trigger spring" is weak (WTF is with that anyway?), then he already knows AKs and knows that the Saiga 308 is a good rifle. Furthermore, he would never throw surefire mags in the trash even if he didn't like them or thought they were shit. He would sell them to someone else here or turn em on gunbroker. He trolled you from the start. A mod needs to compare IP addresses in this thread as well cause he could very likely be another personality (or two) in this thread as well.
  12. Lol I never saw this thread. Yeah, I paraphrased several members on and off of this board. I can't really take credit for the whole thing, it's more of a compilation. Since 22 Shooter is done with it, I'm gonna steal it back and put it in my sig line until somebody else wants it.
  13. All the distributors are out. The last shipment was all Saiga-12s. I have been searching for another one high and low. Gunbroker has some going up every once in a while, but they are usally asking a premium and getting it. The next shipment of 7.62x39s with be in December, so I am told. Hopefully by then the hysteria will have died down some and everyone will be focused on regular AKs and not our precious Saigas. In the meantime, don't go running your mouth about how good Saigas are and how after they are the best AK you can get once properly converted. Lets just all keep it to ourselves a
  14. Have you called him? The phone number is listed on the website.
  15. I believe the leapers he is refering to is the UTG. The 4 rail mount WILL NOT fit a Saiga 308 without massive modifications. I did this and it took me 2 days worth of dremmel work. I am still not happy with the fit and as we speak I am taking a break from trying to shim the goddamed thing because I couldn't get the scope sighted in, it was shooting too low and not enough adjust ment in the scope. If I were to do it all over again, I would have tried a different rout, like maybe trying to mod a ULTIMAK to fit the Saiga.
  16. +1 A target pistol does not The Judge make. However, at "Social Pistol Range" it performs fine. Would it be my first choice for a self defense piece? No, especially not with bird or even buckshot. With 45LC, it would do the job OK and I tell ya, with birdshot, it is just the cats ass for killin snakes in the chicken house.
  17. Yes!!! THANK'S Bbrown!!! I'll be ordering more pks. of "magpulls" for my FBMGs!!!...guess my head was up my a-- on my earlier attempt to fit the FBMGs. SORRY,Veriform & all, for the false/bad information...I hope to learn from my error! That's ok, it is what we congragate here for, to learn.
  18. John, you sure they wont fit? It took some muscle getting the .223 magpuls on my 7.62x39 mags.
