  1. I drilled mine out and use it as a paper weight. I was surprised how heavy it is.
  2. This was the only part of the conversion that I was sweating, ironically it was probably the easiest when all was said and done. I completetly converted my rifle and waited to do the Bullet Guide until I went to the range and put a hundred or so trouble free rounds down range in that configuration to make sure I didn't have any hiccups. Once I knew my rifle worked, I then did the BG. It was extemely easy, but I was still sweating bullets though until I got to the range and put another 200 trouble free rounds down range to make sure the BG worked and I didn't F' any thing up. 3. so is using a wire brush not recommended? Different thoughts on this, some will say it's ok, some will say that you have a better chance a wearing the barrel down faster or nicking the "crown" effecting accuracy while using a rod and brush.. I find that a bore snake product is the easiest way to clean my barrels and not worry about screwing anything up. Having said that, when I was in the Marines we scrubbed the crap out of our M16's with wire (I believe brass) brushes and I never did see any adverse effect to accuracy or function.
  4. It's really fast and easy to "track" with, for me atleast. I guess I used this type of sight for so long that It's just natural for me. Your mileage may vary.
  5. Sure. So, here is a crappy picture, it's night and indoor light so you wont see the the Fiber optic front sight (it's green) but this will give you a decent idea of what the sight picture will look like. Pretty much like an M16A2 when using the large aperature rear sight. I like that the Krebs sight "hides" the front sight protective "ears," though I couldn't get the sight perfectly centered while balancing the rifle and taking the pic, ah hell, you get the idea though.
  6. So I got the Krebs and XS sight in today and installed them. Love the Krebs, not to fond of the XS Stripe front sight, a little wide for me. So, I removed the XS front sight and reinstalled my fiber optic front sight post and with the Krebs rear it's a perfect sight picture for me. Very happy with the two combined.
  7. My buddy has a Krebs and a Mojo. I tried both of his and find I like the Krebs better so I just got one of those. I find it easier to use, retains factory controls, sight picture was better for me. The Krebs sight just works best for me.
  8. Well, in order to buy in bulk, save money and be able to go shooting a couple times a month I limited myself to x2 main calibers, 9mm and .223/5.56. So I went with the Saiga .223. I shoot a lot more and save a ton of money buying bulk. So that's the route I took. All of my friends with AR's get ticked because I get the cheap steel case ammo and save even more than them. Side note, .22lr don't count
  9. Around here, Southern California, .223-7.62 go for about $400-$450 new, which is typical Cali mark up. But for some reason they try to sell the S12 for about $850-$950 new, no way in hell will I pay that.
  10. You could always have the "Shroud" fabricated to fit over the barrel and screw onto the FSB, there by giving you the "look" that you like but not effecting velocity, accuracy and it's not permanent. I think that would be a good compromise IMHO. I definately like the way it looks, and am in the same boat you are right now, on the fence between just doing it or a compromise.
  11. Definately different, but in a really good way. Solid workmanship.
  12. Thanks for the imput, appreciate the info. on a side note, I am going to replace the front sight with the XS Stripe Tritium front sight, ordered the Krebs rear and this front sight last night. Already have the front sight adjustment tool so I should be GTG.
  13. Well, just got back from a friends house who has the Krebs rear sight, will be ordering that tonight. My only complaint really with the AK style weapon system was the rear sight> The Krebs seemed to fix that for me and gave me the familiar sight picture of an M16A2. It's good to have friends that spend cash so I don't have to trying to figure crap out
  14. Ok, I used the search, didn't show anything about these sights, fore warned, I may be slightly retarded in case there is in fact a thread about his topic. So, I can use iron sights well, learned a long time ago in the Marines. But honestly, I just don't care for the Ak 47 sights on my Saiga 223. In all fareness, they work, I just don't like them. I plan to put a red dot like an Aim Point for longer shots (100-300M) but I was thinking that the XS big dot sights might be perfect out to about 75m for quick shots center of mass. So, does anyone use these, have used these, or wanting t
  15. I like the Ultimak and will purchase one soon. I have used one on another weapon system and I liked it a lot.
