  1. While not particularly scientific (and only looks at AR stocks), the testing was consistent and Magpul UBR came out on top. As correctly pointed out by VLTOR, you have to wonder if the result would be the same in a "real world" test with an actual gun. Still, it seems some manufacturers need to do a little more design work.
  2. And yet you participated... Thats a big negative, son. Opinion noted, thanks for participating.
  3. So we agree. I don't ever WANT to fire a shotgun without hearing protection. I guess you're not much of a bird hunter. Nope

  5. Not so sure about that. Hearing damage is normally a result of extended exposure, not a few shots (depends on caliber). Besides, the iPod causes hearing damage long term. That's not the category of damage to which I was referring. Huh? What you talkin' bout willis?

  7. Found it! http://www.vaoutdoorsman.com/forum/showthread.php/1075-Tactical-HD-Shotguns-%E2%80%A2-Re-How-short-a-barrel-is-too-short I like how it has H&K sights... all about utility.
  8. Based on the warnings regarding the possibility of flames burning your hand with an 8" barrel, I'd say 6" is solidly unsafe. Still, pics? Those who wanted an SBS but live in states like WA. I'm actually trying to decide what I want Tom to build...
  9. It's all fun until you shoot yourself or, worse, someone else. Last thing we need is someone having so much fun that someone gets killed.
  10. How short can an experienced gunsmith get the barrel of a Saiga 12 before it becomes unsafe to operate? I would consider any requirement of gloves or a reasonable chance of hearing damage, whether temporary or permanent, to be unsafe. This is based on the premise that you won't have on hearing protection, gloves, or other safety measures when you need it. What about OAL? Has anyone experimented with shortening the stock or receiver in combination with the barrel? (I was just reading about the M26 Modular Accessory Shotgun System... and I'd rather have a Saiga then a Judge for protec

  12. SRTrigger? Barrel length? Which autoplug? Which folding mechanism?
  13. You COULD mold a Nylon receiver with steel inserts for additional strength. Requires lots of engineering know-how and a one off like that is going to run a grand or more, I suspect. But, really, do you want a lighter 12 gauge? You'd be manufacturing additional felt recoil.
  14. Perhaps a poll on that is in order.
  15. King Armory is planning a US-made barrel (mid-2012): http://kingarmory.com/king-armory-products/gas-pistons-and-other-parts/ Cheap? I hope not.
  16. I fired off 20 rounds of 3" #00 Magnum during my first shoot with my ONE Saiga. Other then learning that the "sporter" stock isn't much help, mines GTG until I get it converted. No doubt about it, with a Saiga your experience will most likely vary.
  17. I hate adapters for most anything, but sans the "right" features in a native stock you don't have much choice. Sure, you could make one, but you'll still need a stock in the meantime. That said, I'm inclined to favor US made products when reasonable and will accept an adapter when the "right" features requires it. Anyone feel like making me a length adjustable skeleton stock with lots of padding and AK native connection? Bonus points for one made of Nylon with steel inserts for added strength. Didn't think the MOE would have much of a showing for a shotgun... Also unaware of the e
  18. Didn't think the MOE would have much of a showing for a shotgun... Also unaware of the enhanced recoil pad. Just generally ignorant, I guess. Great! I hope they sell a lot! Sweet lookin'! How's it feel when shooting 3" magnums? What's special about the Russian AK 100 series folding stock? Other then authenticity, of course. I haven't mounted it yet. It's going on my next shotgun which will be the 030 U.S. version or hopefully one day the VEPR 12. I expect this to be the most comfortable stock that I have ever had on a shotgun, though. The butt end is well padded and th
  19. Yep, that's a given. All polls are opinion based.

  21. Sorry, that one didn't occur to me. Probably best left as "other," anyway.
  22. Yes, it would! Personally, I'm looking for something rugged, length adjustable, and well padded. Folding is not a primary interest, but would be a nice addition. That said, I'm thinking of going with the VLTOR Emod. I don't like the fact that it requires an adapter, but I'm comforted by the storage it provides. Overall, I'd probably prefer a slim profile / skeleton with adjustable length and a StormWerkz stock hinge. Since that doesn't exist (to my knowledge), the VLTOR route seems best for me.
