  1. I dremeled off a little bit of the lip on my factory 10 rounder for bench rest shooting and it works 100%.
  2. This. Also, just a general tip- it is probably not a good idea to call people who could potentially help you with your issue "mofos" and "cunts."
  3. When I first got mine I wanted to treat it very delicately. Eventually I realized that the AK is meant to have the shit beat out of it, and not to worry about being rough with it. As for the charging handle, as others have said polishing the contact points+ shooting a few hundred rounds will smooth it out.
  4. Breaking Bad is probably the best show I have ever watched. The Season 5 premiere did not disappoint either.
  5. I did something very similar to my Saiga when I converted it, and it has had no effect on the rifle.
  6. Bigger, thicker, harder? Really? Haha Congrats on the purchase.
  7. I will echo what a lot of others have said and advise you to go with the 16" barrel on the x39. Not only does it look like an AK should to me, but it was Kalashnikov's original design length. Plus, those extra 4 inches aren't going to make a noticeable difference, except in maneuverability. Either way, you should get what you prefer, that's just my .02. Also, you definitely made the right choice with the x39 over the .308 etc. The 7.62x39 is the original AK cartridge and it just feels right in the weapon. (The availability of $10 mags and cheap ammo doesn't hurt either!)
  8. Already done, I applied it to the screw's threads after testing the guide for function.
  9. So I have had the pistol grip and stock converted for about a month now, and have even put about 100 rounds through my rifle, but today I finally installed the bullet guide and modified the mag catch to take standard AK mags. I cycled a few rounds through, and it works flawlessly! I was concerned last night when I first attempted to tap the hole and it was not working out, however, one lesson I have learned converting this is that whenever something isn't working, it's a good idea to just take a break and try later. So I did just that and today a drilled out the stripped opening of the
  10. Thank you, I took your advice and used a rubber mallet to tap it straight. It then clicked into place but did not seem solid enough, so I took a steel punch and tapped it with the mallet a few times. The plate barely moves at all now and appears it will hold in place. Thanks again for the solution.
  11. I purchased this part: http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-1365/Saiga-Ak-retaining-plate/Detail I installed it into my Saiga 7.62, using a Tapco G2. It appears solid as far as side-to-side movement. However when it is lifted upward, even very slightly, the piece seems to fall out of place. Is this normal and will it hold up when firing the rifle?
  12. I must be the only lucky one, my local chain of outdoors stores has them consistently priced at $400. (I bought my first Saiga in February.) For the past couple of years they have been charging $350 around Christmas as well.
  13. I experienced the exact same problem this weekend. What I did was to elongate the holes in the trigger guard itself with a dremel. I would grind a bit, then check, rinse, repeat. The trigger guard is very steady even after doing the elongating, and does not move at all.
