I removed the tabs and moved them up .080 and mig welded them, then ground them smooth and repainted. they work flawless in both my .223 Saigas....i spent a day and made about 15 of them, i might even sell a few.....

Im hearing bans on certain types of ammo not to mention quantity bans and internet sales bans. But one thing im hearing is the ban on russian importation of 5.45 and 7.62 because its AK-47 ammo. That should make our 5.56/.223 AKs very popular soon huh? I purchased my two Saiga in .223s because the guy at the gun shop said this is the caliber you want and he stated the reasons i mentioned above and its looking like he might be right sooner than later..

we have managed to double the price of .223 ammo, if you can even find it and put 7.62 thru the roof too. all in record time.....congrats fellas.

will the price of ammo come down after this hysteria is over or will it just stay at these prices now. from what i have seen in the past prices once up stay up...

we managed to make the price of .223 almost double folks do to panic buying. avg wolf .223@ 40 cents a round now bulk...if you can even get it.

isnt the Izhmash plant in Russia closing, that will put an end to all Saigas in any cal i would think???

both tabs have to be brought down bout .070. each mag is a custom fit. best to mig em right thru the hole u drilled to bemove the spot welds, then grind smooth..by bringing the mag body up to the correct height this will get rid of all that wobble nonsense too because the top of the mag will now be up again the rails the way there spossed to be.

the problem with the Galil mag is it sits too low. Bending the tab will not do it. the front and rear tabs/latchs have to be drilled to remove the spotwelds then reposition the tab/latchs and mig them into place to bring the top of the mag right up to the rail in the receiver where it belongs. now you will have a mag that will work 100%..i have done a few dozen of them, its extensive but the only way to make the galil mags 100%.

the problem with a ban state is that you cant use new mags more than 10 rounds. so that leaves you with trying to find preban/223 mags which isnt easy and isnt cheap. so your options come down to paying big bucks for E German stuff or steel Galils which will eventually dry up or just using new 10 rounders. the problem with using Russian ammo guns is that ammo might dry up.

the rear blade sight is put on AK battle rifles for a very good reason, it is still the quickest acquistion sight when you are a wantin to throw death fire at folks who wanna kill you at 200 or 300 yds or less.

yea and the Easter bunny used to bring you candy right....when is everyone gonna stop cryin about the price of a quality combat rifle that will work thru almost anyhting you put it thru. hell you can still get an AK for round 500 bucks. if you dont wanna part with the 500 clams for an AK then make a slingshot or buy an aluminum baseball bat.it was around this time last year that they dropped to $299.....wishful thinking

ooohhh thats harsh..Dry. If your mags need lube... toss them in the trash.

you guys put alittle lube on you mag followers where they ride up on the inside of the mag housing. i noticed on steel mags when pressing the follower down with a pencil on an unlubed mag there seems to be a little resistance but after putting a drop of hoppes gun oil down inside the followers are as smooth as silk...

this wear happened all in the time period of the 5 or 6 jams that i have incountered. i have another saiga same Dinzag guide which i have shot just as much but never used this one problem mag that caused the wear on the one pictured above and there is no where near the wear that this guide has. Im just wondering about the knife edge design of the Dinzag or maybe the material hardness?
if this was a factory original riveted guide or guide that was machined as part of the reciever that wore in a rifle after 5 jams i think i would be alittle pissed, luckily i can just warm this and unscrew it and put a new one in, not too happy about having to dump another 25 bucks however.

i had one mag that was giving me some FTFs and im talking only 5 or 6 jams till i repaired the mag which now works flawless. the Dinzag bullet guide looks alittle rough, is this normal breaking wear or is this guide wearing premature?

you have nothing to lose by going with a bullet guide and getting some good steel mil mags. then you can go ahead and dremil down those plastic mags built in bullet guides and you will still be able to use them also. i installed a dinzag guide in both my Saigas and use 35 round steel galils mags and never have a FTF..check on this site, there are some good recomendations for mags..
