  1. Ink slinger extraordinaire, have a safe, enjoyable birthday!
  2. Dang big damn store, 97,500 square feet. Wish something like this would come closer to the LC. Palmetto State is supposed to be opening a store and range in Summerville sometime soon.
  3. Nevermind the volume, sometimes I'd just like to be able to turn them off altogether.
  4. Here's how the removal went for me. I used a cylindrical stone type deal on a Dremel and as best I could locate the head of the pin I cut it out. I never did see the pin shaft so in my typical impatient fashion I just put some Vise-Grips on the collar and turned clock-wise. I felt it loosen up so I kept turning and it came off. Turns out the pin just laid down. The collar isn't threaded from one end to the other, the end where the pin is is a bigger I.D. and not threaded. The pin did scratch the rounded "shoulder" that leads down to the threads on end of the barrel but th
  5. Thanks for posting. "[Reposted from my blog from 2005]" Is it still up, if so, where?
  6. Well there's the old thing about getting proficient with the irons before going to an optic but actually it's a necessity, buying the rifle and upgrades, replacing the "throw away" stock etc. tapped me out. I got the Primary Arms piece after doing due diligence and reading many positive comments about it at places other than the PA site. It was between the FSC30 and the SJC Titan; They are exactly the same price and I just finally made a decision to go with PA. I'm not certain I'll be able to find a rail setup that will still allow use of the irons though, the V2 sights are ve
  7. No apology necessary, I was breaking balls a little. I hope you get some glass on it, so you can stretch those x54r legs. My eye doc seems to think if I get a prescription zeroed in on the distance from my eyes to the front sights on my pistols (an average of sight radii) and possibly this rifle it might help, he's willing to do this. I'd like to get good to go at 2-300 yards w/optic but I don't have a place to shoot beyond 100 yards.
  8. Does anyone know if the AK-300/AKR allows for the use of iron sights on a V2 Vepr?
  9. Why not a compensator? the flash hider doesn't do much, and a decent comp can be had for $65, which is less than the shot shock tube, I think. Well actually I have this on the way (somewhere between here and Salt Lake City); The hider I have on it now was $9.95 from CSS til the other comes. "ALSO, TO MY MY UNDERSTANDING, ENIDINE DROPPED PRODUCTION OF THAT HYDRAULIC BUFFER JUST AFTER NEWTOWN; DIDN'T WANT TO BE SEEN AS HAVING ANY CONNECTION TO GUN STUFF." This is true, I just happen to have an extra.
  10. I would definitely recommend the rs regulate ak300. Just got one in for a friend or mine as a Christmas gift from his wife. Excellent mount! Pricey but well worth it. I'm probably gonna get one myself first of the year. I looked at the RS Regulate too but it seems it's strong suit is being able to mount various kinds of optics with a minimum of excess rail over the receiver. This isn't a big deal to me, am I missing something (which is likely just as I missed the stuff above)? Usually a title like this one has some sort of range report ie; groupings at whatever distance using wha

  12. OH, I think I get it now. I did copious amounts of drugs during my misspent youth so sometimes it takes me a minute or two to catch on....you're saying the topic title should have read "Range Day with MY new Vepr"....right? I'll throw a big DUH in too. But she is beautiful, no?
  13. I went through the process however it was laid out at the time. I guess anything is possible but I keep a close eye on everything that comes to my spam folder because it has happened that non spam, important mail has come to it. Moot point anyway, I got a 20.5" square back from you about a week ago. I just posted it mainly for the benefit of others.
  14. Sent about 150 rounds down range. Got to decide on a side mount, leaning toward the K-Var SM-13. Also considering trying a Shot Shock tube to help mitigate recoil for follow up shots.
  15. It looks like these are available now but I haven't gotten a notification.
  16. Man alive he's fifty five!!! Woo Hoo! I hope it's a goodun home boy, have some sour mash, some barbeque and tell some lies.
  17. This is why I like the AK platform...one of the few times being left handed actually worked out (for me that is...).
  18. You should always take deals where you find them I guess but I use SG as the yardstick by which I measure any other "deal", "sale" or "special" that comes along. It also depends on what you are looking for though. For instance SG hasn't had any decent (stuff that will cycle in semi auto pistols and rifles) 22LR for a long time. Before last December they regularly had Mini-Mags etc. But for x39, 54r and shotgun shells they're the only place I look. Also they don't gouge on shipping. From me they're halfway across the country (1,200 miles) and they only charge $22 to ship a wooden crate
  19. Ok, apples to apples; 1,000 rounds Tulammo® 7.62x39 122 Grain FMJ Sportsmansguide $283.09 (Buyer's Club - Regular Price $297.99) Out of stock SGammo.com $241.50 Shipped - In Stock 1,000 rounds TulAmmo™ 7.62x39mm 124 - grain FMJ Sportsmasguide $287.75 (Buyer's Club - Regular Price $302.89) SGammo.com $241.50 Shipped I could go on but the results would be similar. Also, if you see it on SGammo it's there to be had, no "Sorry it's on back order" emails after you've paid. They ship the next business day. I quit wasting time shopping around long ago, SG consistently h

  21. Just got a 5.11 Holster Shirt, I highly recommend it for carrying deep.

I wasn't sure how I'd like it, couldn't test it first and all but the proof is in the wearing. It's snug and with a P239/40 there's no movement, just feels "right".
