  1. There will always be "brand fans" of shit like the glock or ars or aks or what ever. I'm no acception to the rule. I favor ruger pistols, been shooting em since I was a kid. I own a glock 22, my only pistol atm. I am happy with it. It handles well, its durable and reliable. I am, however, not a fan of the safety features (or lack there of). I've been debating on changing the barrel out to shoot 9mm instead. I am just more comfortable with 9mm in rapid shooting on point. When it comes down to it, shoot what ever caliber you want as long as you can hit what you need to considering you may n
  2. You can order 30 round ak mags and put a 10 round break in it too.
  3. Convert to AR mags and you won't have a problem finding them anywhere.
  4. If you give the government a loop hole to restrict weapons, they will exploit it. Criminals in office are the same as criminals on the streets, they do not want people to stop them from commiting crimes.
  5. I think it all comes down to whether or not you know what you are talking about and if you actually care. It reminds me of my work. I get asked all the time what kind of "gun" I tattoo with. I just let them know that I shoot guns, I tattoo with machines. Same goes with "tats", "tats" are shitty $20 garbagethat you get in someones kitchen, garage, living room etc, a tattoo costs money and you admire because its refined art. I'd never try to use a clip in my AK, wouldn't work and using a gun to tattoo would be bloody, possibly lethal.
  6. Cheapest I can find is an ammo depot near by my house. I pay $135 for 500 and $240 for 1k. Its Tula, but shit... My saiga loves it, and it just seems right to shoot russian ammo through a russian rifle.
  7. You figure, its about $450-$500 for the rifle uncoverted, then 350 and up for new furniture, american trigger and what not. Not to mention time and skill to replace the gas block to set new furniture and moving the trigger and installing the bullet guide.
  8. "That can't be legal" "What are you doing... That's an AR mag, that'll blow up if you use that" "How many rounds is that, 50?" (10/30 mags) Range master "what's an sks?" "Why's that so quiet, does it have a silencer?" (Shooting a ruger 10/22) Gotta love those .60cal M-60s, super rare, but soooooo fun to shoot lmao!
  9. I love my job! People pay me to draw all over them and inflict pain.
  10. I can carry 8 10/30 ar mags (fitted for my saiga) and 2 standard saiga mags in my tactical vest. Being in california, that means only 100rnds, but then that's why the ammo can is stocked with anything else needed for the range.
  11. Indeed, I have learned a ton from this site and still managed no butthurtness... http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_tOJ0BeW5vXw/TPMTu5Ih5KI/AAAAAAAAAAM/DJp86ZUDrfg/s1600/Butthurt.PNG
  12. California, you cannot add any muzzle device without making it "unsporting". So, keep in mind, even slanted ak muzzle breaks mean you are required to lock the mags. One of the things you can still do in California, is to enhance your saiga .223/5.56 experience and do a little trunnion work and install a Renegade Buck or MSA AR15 magwell so you can use M4, M16, and all other AR platform mags in it. As for the sights, I'm gearing up to add HK sights to mine to increase the accuracy. The reason people don't like the stock AK irons. Is due to them being so close and having less tollerance.
  13. Out of the box, every part is foreign (russian). You only need to change parts for american ones when you take it out of "sporter" configuration. If you move the trigger forward and put the pistol grip, you need to swap parts. If you put a muzzle break on it, same thing. Also, california law, if either of those gets installed on your rifle, you have to lock the magazine.
  14. Just put 300rnds through mine with the galil style handguard. It helps... But oh man, that baby still cooks. Must wear gloves and hold the mag to avoid the heat.
  15. True, less likely to encounter problems. Was just wondering if it was a hassle to strip, 7 screws sounds fair.
  16. I love the look on peoples faces when they see me swaping ar mags with a friend to shoot in my 223 saiga. The general responses are either "oh, never mind, I hate AKs" or "wait, I can drop it in mud, sand, water, run it over, throw it off a cliff and shoot that and I can convert it and use the mags I already have for my AR in it and it won't break my bank account?" Lol. Too much AK hate out there for the most used rifle in existance.
  17. I just put a galil style handguard on mine, haven't shot it yet, but hoping that takes the heat down a bit.
  18. I just saw a gun store locally that had the saiga 223 russian mags for 19.99... If I had more cash on me, I would have bought every damn one they had.
  19. I've pumped federal, american eagle, tula, and wolf through mine in one outing, over 500rnds and not one FTF or FTE. No cleaning inbetween... I like shooting tula, its cheap and acurate enough for some sport plinking.
  20. That pic of the chinese soldier is great!!! Let's forget for a few moments that a moron is holding the target... I'm pretty sure those are houses or businesses of some sort in the background. But I'm sure that wooden fence will stop a 7.62 no problem.
  21. I don't understand the purpose/practicality of this. Sure, looks cool, but why?
  22. I just put 200 rounds through my saiga with the renegade buck adapter. Not one single feed issue with poly tapco mags, but every 5 or so rounds with the steel mags, the mag dislodged and had to be reset into place... Anyone have a similar issue?
