  1. Quick & Concise...good to go!!! Thanks,John762
  2. Opps!!! Did reply rather than Pm...corrected---PM SENT!
  3. Pm Sent...Awaiting response on offer...Good hunting!
  4. The Tapco hammer has to clearenced cut for the crossmember...the Tapco disconnector has a smaller spring hole (.308 spring is too thick) & needs thinned for the original over-travel stop to fit...actually the trigger may be cut to run with the original yoke/trigger assembly. Go to COBRA 76 TWO's business sight here on the forum where this is discussed...he does original trigger setup modifications & so does/did DANZIG, another onsite business.
  5. I've understood that the shape of the rifle's trunion mount area was of two different types used in production..one flat, the other with a round bullet-guide mount location. You use/buy/make whichever fits your particular rifle...earlier round, later flat.
  6. The older Bulgarians were blued w/metal followers...they're still around for sale. The newer Bulgarians,I believe...I e:mailed about to a vendor, are black-painted w/plastic followers. They're said to be OK, however, I preferred all metal, blued...so I passed.
  7. That's the standard wooden stock set from the factory rather than the standard plastic set-up. It gives a totally different "heft" to the rifle. I've handled both types & I prefer the wood. You can sometimes find a wood set in a forum's WTS or on an auction site...AuctionArms, Gunbroker, etc. Most who have the wood say they prefer it over the plastic. All the Saiga rifles(except the new thumbhole style) have interchangeable furniture.
  8. An E:mail is being composed. You can reply with a PM(I think) or E:mail me. You will discover much valuable knowledge on your .308 here in the forums...enjoy!
  9. If the Russian follower is allowed to rise-up to the feed-lips, will the bolt hold open(even partially) to indicate your mag is "empty"? It appears that shortening the follower's two side guide rails/stops about 1/8" would allow the follower hump to touch the feed lips. Will the .308 3-lug bolt stop/hang-up on the leading "sloped" follower hump? Anyone tried a bolt hold-open .308 mag modification that will/will not function?
  10. I've found that metal ak mags drain fairly quickly whether upside-down or right-side up. The FBMGs are slow drainers followers-down... do to their tolerances, a breather hole in the baseplate would quicken the drain. Ever have a vapor-locked gas tank? Running Magpulls on all my FBMGs, I"ll definitely be carrying follower-down. My thoughts were to drill the follower appropriately to increase the exit-flow & add a breather on the floorplate. I've found that a second opinion has saved making mistakes or led to a better idea.
  11. I've always tried to dump-out any water that may have gotten into the barrel of any rifle before dropping the hammer. Will firing with the barrel full of water cause a major malfunction? Also, what is the situation with totally submerged firing? Any experienced advice on conducting a test?
  12. Just dipped my FBMGs in WD-40 to smooth plastic-to-plastic friction & yeah, it does smooth out the follower action. The aluminum baseplates are rounded for ease in reassembly. This allows a small amount to drain from each side of the front of the baseplate. The plastic baseplates allow nearly no drainage. The followers fit such that unless you depress the follower, upsidedown dumping is super slow. Anyone added drain holes? If Magpulls are used, the baseplate seems the best likely candidate. Any experienced advice before I DO drill/grind?
  13. Yes!!! THANK'S Bbrown!!! I'll be ordering more pks. of "magpulls" for my FBMGs!!!...guess my head was up my a-- on my earlier attempt to fit the FBMGs. SORRY,Veriform & all, for the false/bad information...I hope to learn from my error!
  14. Picked-up a three pk.last week with the same idea for my FBMG mags...no way will they fit the Saiga 308.They fit the m14 mags tightly & function as designed. The polymer/rubber material has very little stretch & definitely will not by any method fit the FBMG's mags which are thicker/wider...yeah,bummer.After experiencing the magpuls on the m14 mags, I definitely would like my FBMG mags to be equipped with "magpuls"...apparently the "homegrown" type.
  15. I'm picking up a BFA..blank firing adapter.. for a .308 tanker garand & have decided to get a couple extras for modifying to use in my other .308s such as the Saiga. With ammo prices high, the expenses on training newbies could be greatly reduced by the use of blanks.I would rather simply spend a few dollars for an aftermarket BFA made specifically for the Saiga .308. One of the homegrown vendors here should perhaps design/construct a few hundred for starters.
  16. Hey,Welcome to the world of the Saiga weapons...this forum has all the information you need to make the proper choice on modification of the stock Saiga weapon........SLOW DOWN & LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP!!! You will save yourself time, money, & a range of undesireable emotions if you acquire the knowledge needed to outfit your Saiga before going on a buying spree of parts either unneeded or not functional in your modification build. You talk of buying the ATI AK furniture set...do you know the handguards won't simply "bolt-on" a Saiga? Relax & read through the forum sections & you'l
  17. I'm not sure, but for a $5 donation to the site(?)...you could place it in the classifieds to sell/trade. Members would probably jump on it with several offers to trade/buy. The shipping & FFL transfer fees could be avoided with a FTF(face-to-face)..at least they are here in Illinois where I'm located. If you're near Peoria, I've two wood-stocked 308's & love thumbholes for hip-shooting. BEWARE:Hip-shooting a norinco m-14 may get you a nice pinch from the hinged, steel buttplate! Also......Congradulations to Saiganoobie for getting his "new baby"!!!---Great pictures!!!
  18. Have you been switching around different internet service providers(ISP's)? Some ISP's push their prejudices upon their customers by censoring specific websites that they feel are not proper for humanity. COMPUSERVE/NETSCAPE blocks this website"Saiga-12" (kicks you off the net when you click on anything) & deletes part of the texts of posts on the site "Survivor's SKS Forum".It's a fact that is TRUTH...I've been living this censorship for 2 yrs. with 4 different computers which all functioned OK with a different ISP at a different location..& yeah, they blow you off when you try to get
  19. ---------The seller is currently(48hrs.passed) considering a trade offer. I stated in my offer--"few days thinking is ok with me". I'm thinking in a swap the USPO & receiving FFL's are each making money on the private deal--a fact which definitely adds to any "losses" if in a trade-down sistuation. I imagine in a few days that there will be "some movement"---"DON'T BUST PIGGY JAR.....YET!"
  20. I'm still "lost" on activating your PM--however I'm heading for my in-box to try to communicate by replying to your PM's(2)w/pictures which you sent to me..so....PM inbound ! Also, next to your 2 PM's in my in-box is{blocked} next to each PM----does this mean your control settings are blocking "all" PM's from this posting or just "dummies"who don't use the proper precedure(??-click-on-name-??)?
