  1. I may be late on this, but I just noticed the Thumbhole Saiga 308s (Ver 21 on RAACfirearms.com) are in country!!!! Anyone shot one yet?
  2. not 100% sure about that one, but it's just one more reason why I would never live in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia.
  3. Well, after I got my 21" S 308, I fired a couple mags of Santa Barbara surplus (left over from when I had my CETME) and I discovered that its accuracy was 300yd gong worthy, but I was unable to really sight it in. I ended up going with the Skeletonized stock from Gilberts, and a lo-pro BP 02 mount and Barska 3-12 Tactical scope set up. Was able to test it at 50yds today, and I was very pleased. Aside from a 2 fliers, all the rest of the holes were touching. (I would hope to expect that at 50yds from any gun)--I was pretty excited, since I had heard a few conflicting accuracy reports. So,
  4. Go to opticstalk.com and search "barska"...there's been A LOT of discussion about barska....the major concensus is, "buyer beware" because the quality control is just not there...i had to send back 2 barskas and the one i finally settled on, still has stuff wrong with it. So, if you only want to spend ~$100, be my guest, but there are a lot of other scopes out there that you could choose from, like a cheap bushnell or nikon. Bottom line, you get what you pay for with optics.
  5. WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would you quit it already? (and by "quit it", I mean, continue---I just don't have the funds as of yet)....That looks freakin' awesome!!!!!!!!!! Will they fit the airsoft flash hider (like the one that texlurch has on his saiganov)? Thanks, Dinzag, and all other mechanically inclined members, for being our "enablers."
  6. Micah was very easy to deal with and sent the forearm promptly. A+
  7. Welcome to the Forum, and to the Saiga Addiction!!! There's pme for sale on gunbroker right now for like $700 from killimall, with scope and skeletonized stock...but your best bet is to just buy a 21" .308 with synthetic furniture ~$350 and order a skeleton "dragunov" stock from Gilbert's guns ~$80 and a scope of your choice.. OR..... Buy the 21" .308, and spend another $300-$350 to have it converted to allow a Choate or ATI Dragunov style stock. And if you don't like the synthetic, check into BattlerifleG3's custom wood furniture. As for me, I'm still undecided as I love the lin
  8. I GOT A DREMEL TOO!!!!!! The "Stylus" ooooOOOOooohhh...aaaAAAAaaaahhh...but no cutting discs with it-DANG!!! I already have the 22" bbl .308, but I just may have to get the 16" to play with too. Jeez, I can't believe how much money these "inexpensive" Saigas are gonna cost me in the long run. Hope to see some of your pics when your conversion is complete!
  9. Paul, WELCOME!!! I'm pretty new to the Saigas as well, but I learned a TON from using the search function on the forum. Type in "922r" or "conversion" or "saiganov" etc....these will all bring up a wealth of information.
  10. I'm looking for the skeletonized stock that's coming off of the 16" models--if any of you have some lying around after a conversion, please let me know!
  11. Thanks--signing up for an Ebay account as I type this. Appreciate the assist!!!
  12. Saw one on a gun auction site--gunbroker or gunsamerica--and wanted to "buy it now", but can't figure out how to do the damn paypal. Geez, and it's my generation that's supposed to be a whiz at the internet. I'll keep checking-thanks for the replies
  13. What happened to all the low profile side mount weaver style mounts? I just checked Kalinka and Eastwave and found diddly squat!!! I don't know if I want to shell out an extra $60 for an IOR side mount...that's a lot of .308 ammo!
  14. I sent an email to RAA and they said that they should be able to offer the skeletonized stock and other furniture as accessories as soon as December possibly...he just said to keep checking back in. Hope this helps
