    Welding

Twitch has a point. Thats not a big job well the back plate is something any good welder can do. They could also fill the holes but if they aren't gun people I don't know how the finished product would turn out. Sending it out will take a while for the turn around. Most reputable shops have huge waiting list. If you were needing a whole conversion then it would be worth the wait but like alot of us here you sound like a DIY'er. I weld like shit. If it's something that can be seen I get my buddy to do it. 15yrs welding in chemical plants without any gunsmithing knowledge or skill hell I don't t
  3. I thought working on guns was part of the fun. Okay maybe I could have done without the Vodka special award but I feel like I know the gun better because of it. Well I did buy it with the intention of converting it so I really didn't care how it ran in import trim.
  4. Fritz, you need to come shoot some badass converted toys over here in Florida. My gun club has a don't care as long as your very safe attitude. I got plenty of toys that I know you can't have there.
  5. Tony, I trust your oppinion. Your one of the reputable people I was talking about thats playing with the MKA.
  6. I'm a AR guy that loves and appreciates the AK. That being said I HATE THAT GUN! Shot one at the range a month ago and was not impressed. I wanted to be impressed enough to have a reason to add one but I'm not. It's less attractive in person than in pictures meaning all that plastic looks and feels cheap. Even the guy who owned it admitted without me saying shit that he was scared to drop it for fear of it breaking. I did have to do alot of work to my S12 to get it to run so I'm not going to do a comparison between a bone stock Adkal and my tip to tail modified S12 as it wouldn't be fair. I wi
  7. True, but some like the Saiga (even if they won't admit it) but don't want to run in the open class so they stay tube fed.
  8. Ever notice how perfect everything works in testing, practice and training then as soon as it counts murphy shows up drunk and BAM!
  9. I myself am torn between a Eotech 552 I think, Aimpoint Comp M2 and a Aimpoint Comp M4. I have all three sitting in the safe and I'm going with that 1913 rail rear sight replacement that CSS has. But I guess I'll have to try all 3 to figure out what works best for me. If I didn't have them I'd probably go with a micro dot of some kind.
  10. Mine isn't that interesting but it was my MOS in the Army 45B and I'm retired from the Army so 45Bretired I'm not retirement age I got hurt in Iraq and got forced to retire. I'm 37 and get a check on the first and I got all my digits so I won't complain.
  11. Thank you IPSC45 I appreciate your patience. I have never asked these questions nor have I checked any of the legal areas on any forum because I've always been compliant and never needed to so I really didn't know it was a dead horse issue. Thank you for being kind. I agree with you on the whole search thing. Why get on these forums if your not willing to discuss and sometimes debate things over and over and occasionally over again. I'll be abandoning this post now and I'll go on back to the Saiga 12 side.
  12. I've always made it a point to be compliant. Triple check everything and every source of information on my guns and 922 compliance. My question is has anyone ever been caught or know anyone who has been caught out of compliance? Accidentally or didn't care doesn't matter. If so, how were they caught? What were the penalties? I'm curious but this could also be a teaching tool. Please share any stories or info you may have.
  13. That would be a dream come true. I'd definitely buy acouple of those.
  14. Does Walmart sell Guns or ammo in that area? If not I'd check online. My bad for getting off subject.
  15. Very nice man! That is a sweet running little sewing machine you got there.
  16. Damn I just realized how old this post is and how many pages. LOL
  17. I'm from Hammond and shot at the old indoor range off Choctaw must be 9 or 10 years ago. I never thought things would have blown up the way they have. Congrats on your success Will.
  18. Welcome. There is alot of information here. Enjoy your new addiction.
  19. Well if your into Trap and Skeet then I'd say get the longer barrel. I use a 19" for 3 gun but I have a 24" for hunting and it's excellent at what it does. Plus the extra weight and length really make the gun swing and track better. I've taken duck deer and squirrels with it.
  20. My 4 port needed 5/64 ports to get her to run Winchester Universal. I wasn't concerned about over gassing because I stepped up the ports in small increments and I have a TAC47 Auto Plug. It was almost 100% reliable like that like 99% but I put a CSS puck in it and that was the ticket. 100% reliable every one of these guns are a bit different. I know for a fact that this gun is going to go BANG EVERY TIME I PULL THE TRIGGER! No matter what I feed it. Honestly I don't see anymore crap in the gas system when I clean it than before I opened them up. It really runs like a sewing machine.
  21. I'm considering a Fire Bird if I can find one.

Don't be so quick to give up. Nothing about these guns is rocket science. There is all the info you could ever need on this forum. Read up and don't be afraid to tear it apart you'll be glad you did it'll pay off later.
  23. You don't have to weld anything except those HK sights.
  24. I happen to like the SAW grip. I strongly believe a PG should be about the way it feels to you not how it looks to you or anyboby else. After all isn't it the place most touched on the gun? I think a guy once said it's seldom the same whats appealing to the eye and touch. I think he was talking about fat chicks but it makes sense.
