USP, I was about take exception to your explanation until I downloaded the manual from Kalinka and read it. It is much more detailed than the one I got with my scope. While my rifle shoots fine at 100yds using the top carat, I will definitely try adjusting the range with the top turret this summer at the range. Thanks
  2. Hey! The thing that scared Mrs. Edwards most was the "Go Rudy Giuliani 2008" sign!
  3. I've had my .223 for nearly 6 months and have put about 800 rounds through it in that time. I had a stovepipe on my second round (reloads) and not a problem with Wolf steel case since. I can shoot a 2"-4" group with that ammo at 100yds. I have a POSP 4X24 scope on it but plan to use the open sights more this summer. It does ding up cases. I did the trigger mods along with a Dragunov buttstock and definitely improved the trigger action (with a little polishing). I'd go for it if the price is right. Hugo Chavez liked Kalashnikov's so much, he bought 100,000 of them. (AK-103's) Islamic te
  4. Thanks. Definitely a very cool setup.
  5. That looks ingenious enough! It apparently did the job well. Would you mind explaining the rig to a dense person like me?
  6. I found a listing for an auction online and a "used in good condition" port buffer sold for $150
  7. If I remember correctly, some folks say the Finns made a rubber bumper for the aft end of the ejection port (for their Valmets) that prevents case denting. Anyone have any personal experience with such a beast? I found a photo. It doesn't look too complex.
  8. Look for the Capitol Hill police officer to be reprimanded, reassigned to guard duty at a public lavatory and the charge will be dropped on the aide. For God's sake! They won't even prosecute William Jefferson, Dem. Rep. from Louisiana! ($90,000 in marked bills in his freezer)

Sulpher, I'm no ballistics guru but I'll bet if you use the top carat at 50, you will hit your target. Remember, a .223 round is leaving the muzzle @ about 3000 ft/sec. 50 yds is really close for that round.

I have the 4X24 on my .223. Your 1"-2" groups can double at 100 yds, mine do. At 100 yds, you should be sighting on the top carat, for 200 on the second one down. Wolf ammo isn't the best but it works good enough for me for plinking. My Saiga ain't no tack driver but as member "Bad Bob" put it (I believe it was Bob) My gun shoots "one minute of perp" at 100 yards!

    First time

Ranger is goofing around somewhat but he is right. Clean it as if you have shot a bunch of rounds through it already. You want to make sure that the barrel is totally unobstructed by anything applied at the factory.
  12. I had to find a way to have fun shooting a .223 and not burn as much ammo as my Saiga. My solution was this .223 Thompson/Center Encore and Pentax 2.5-10X55 scope. Has anyone out there shot the T/C .223 or any other Encore? Opinions? Thanks
  13. Do you mean to say that some weinie pawned his/her Saiga .223? Didn't they have a car or something else less valuable?
  14. I prefer irons but can't see them anymore! Maybe it's time to visit my I-Doc? In the meantime, my POSP 4X24 works fine.
  15. Cabela's has 1k of Wolf for about $200 plus two dandy plastic ammo boxes!
  16. Congrats SGC! I hope you enjoy your new firearm. It certainly appears that you deserve it having worked so hard to get it. I'll bet that you have a bright future ahead observing your singlemindedness in your pursuit of a goal. Enjoy your rifle and good luck with your studies.
  17. I've only had one so far and that was with some reloads. Actually, it was the "second" round I ever fired from the .223! None since then. None with the buffer.
  18. I've had mine from almost the beginning. I'm sure it does lessen the felt recoil but the main reason I have one is to save on wear and tear.
  19. Before the SCOTUS, it has to go back to the full bench of the D.C. Court of Appeals. This ruling was from a three judge panel. The next step would be for the whole bench to hear it, then the appeal would be to the Supreme Court.
  20. Thanks Ranger, That's a great part of this forum. No error goes uncorrected for very long.
  21. I have a POSP 4X24 on my Saiga. It locks in snugly and holds zero. Some people have had trouble with Kalinka but there also seem to be many satisfied customers. I got mine from these guys. http://www.binocularsmart.com/scopes/svd-r...pes-pso-1.shtml I don't use the rubber eyepiece any longer.
  22. You only need a bullet guide to use hi-capacity mags. If you use a hi-cap mag, you need to convert.
