  1. Doug, This weapon was designed to be disassembled and reassembled by conscripts in the Soviet Army. It is pretty basic. I was not totally unfamiliar with firearms when I bought my Saiga .223 but this was my first semi-auto. What\'s the worst thing that could happen if you try to disassemble this weapon? You can\'t damage it unless you try to use a tool to take anything off. This rifle was made to be taken down by hand in the field. The only part that requires any type of tool is the \"gas tube release\" by the front sight. One of the slots in the round container for the cleaning parts
  2. I don't know what to say but thank-you to you and all of your brothers and sisters who "walked the walk" in Iraq. Shame on the weenies in Congress who are trying to negate all that you folks have accomplished.
  3. It looks great to me. You did a fine job. What did you use for a finish?

    Bore Guide

Thanks Bad Bob & IndyArms for your comments and suggestions. Got my order from J. Dewey Mfg. today. (two days after ordering, they are in my home state though) The cleaning rod and accessories are first rate Tried out the new cleaning rod in the .223 Saiga and think it may work cleaning from the breach. There is a bunch of bend in the rod. I really bought it for my new Thompson/Center Encore .223 and will be cleaning that from the breach because it is a break action. I love the "double tap" capability of the Saiga and am looking forward to a more accurate first shot with the T/C.
  6. The Dremel tool I used for my conversion was a 30 year old Model 245 cranking out a whopping .6 amps, no attachments. It did the job. It looks like the current Dremel "bottom of the line" tool is the Model 275.02 with 1.15 amps. That should do it twice as well!

    Bore Guide

Since I have a few bucks into some .22 calibers, I figured if it could help, why not use one. I guess the thought behind the guide is to keep from damaging the barrel crown. I certainly understand IndyArms logic and had the same thoughts myself. What I did do is order about $50 worth of brass and nylon cleaning tools including a nylon coated cleaning rod from J. Dewey Mfg..

    Gas Tube stuck

You guys are awesome! In most forums, OpFlash would have been flamed unmercifully. Oh, Yeah! Done that too!
  9. My Orlite Galil's rock slightly side to side after I filed them to fit. To solve the mag catch slop, I put a dab of epoxy cement on the bottom of the mag catch and let it set up 24 hours. Then, just carefully file a flat into the epoxy constantly checking it until the mag snaps in tightly.
  10. FCG = Fire Control Group PG = Pistol Grip It wasn't too long ago that I was wondering what those abbreviations meant. The Tapco FCG is probaly the most commonly used for conversions. Installing this kit will move the trigger right behind the magazine catch and leave room to install a pistol grip. If you have a newer Saiga .223, all of the necessary holes are already cut into the receiver. Check out the conversion tutorial. Saiga conversion
  11. Good luck with your new rifles guys! Yer gonna love them. I've had mine for 5 months now and did some easy mods to it. Make it you own custom rifle or leave it the way it is. The .223 is a lot of fun to shoot.
  12. I'm a bit slow but one justification of the large plane was that it would serve the California delegation. She needed a plane that could fly non-stop to San Fran and San Diego/ Los Angeles. Could that mean that the plane would be used by Pelosi, Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein? (EDIT) Good point, RangerM9 How would you like to be a crew member on that flight?
  13. My best guess is a J. Stevens "Little Scout" Check out this link http://www.joesalter.com/detail.php?f_qryitem=1064

    Bore Guide

Does anyone here use a bore guide to clean their .223? I have been looking for one to fit a Saiga or the other two .22 caliber guns I have. Can anyone recommend a brand and where I can buy one?
  15. "(AP) WASHINGTON House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, intent on putting global warming atop the Democratic agenda" The "Queen Bee" needs a bit of room when she flies with all of her workers. Can you say Boeing 757? This is the aircraft the current Speaker of the House is "demanding"! Capacity: 200 passengers $15,000/hour This plane would be dedicated solely to her personal use. 16 person crew This is what Dennis Hastert (the former Speaker) was assigned. Gulfstream V Capacity: 19 passengers How serious is "San Fran Nan" about "Global Warming"?
  16. Try "My Controls" on the top right, then under "Personal Profile" select "Edit Avatar Settings".
  17. I have already purchased a muzzle break from Dinzag. I will be ordering a bullet guide soon. He has recognized a need for a quality product. He is offering a great product at a reasonable price. When I get a few more bucks, I'll get a grip retainer also. This is good old American free enterprise in action! Thanks Brian!!!
  18. I just received an order from The Armory of 1000 rounds or Wolf .223 FMJ 55 gr Berdan primed ammo for $175.86 delivered. Maybe there is cheaper ammo out there but cheaper and more accurate???
