  1. Just like you mentioned. I have already purchased the Russian 5.5mm kits. Not to mention my other rifles have the same folders so I would like to keep them all the same if you know what I mean. All 4.5mm kits SHOULD have the same angle regardless of country. The newer Russian 5.5mm kits have an improved stock angle more inline with the bore.
  2. You are incorrect. While the Bulgarian 4.5mm folders have a 6 degree stock angle the Russian 5.5mm folders only have a 4 degree stock angle. Those angles are estimated because I don't remember exact numbers, but they are different. The Russian being more inline with the bore with less angle. That is why it DOES matter what the Yugo M92 rear angle is because it may already be cut to steep for the Russian 5.5mm kit. I have no problem removing more material, but it's much harder to add.
  3. I am interested to know what additonal modifications are required over the standard Saiga side folder install that make it such a "laborious process"? To my knowledge the Vepr 12 reciever is slightly thicker, but I think the overall width of the reciever is the same. This would make the inner width of reciever slightly more narrow. One could mill a little material of the side folding trunnion and it should fit in the Vepr reciever just like the Saiga. Unless I am missing something this would be the only additional step as long as the factory trunnion rivet pattern is the same. Someone ple
  4. Looks like a Bulgarian folder to me. Not a Russian.
  5. I am wondering if anyone has put a Russian side folder on one of these Yugo M92 AK pistols? http://centerfiresystems.com/HG3089-N.aspx I know that the rear trunnion rivet holes are different, but i can weld up the old rivet holes no problem. My main concern is the angle already cut into the rear of the reciever from the factory. Does anyone know what angle this is? I think the Russian side folder has somewhere around a 4 degree stock angle so I need to know if the Yugo M92 factory reciever angle is more or less than the Russian. My other idea is to add a "weld on" Tromix recieve
  6. Vepr factory mags can be modded to run well in an S12. However, you are probably better off selling your factory Vepr mas and buying Saiga factory mags, as the Saiga factory mags will run flawlessly in either Vepr or Saiga. Saiga Version 30 with Vepr 12 mags: Mike Mike, your response is some what confusing to me, but maybe I am just having a dumbass moment. So you would recommend saiga 030 mags over vepr mags because the saiga 030 fit both shotguns without modification even though your pictures are showing vepr mags? Just clarifying. Lol. Also, after seeing sunnybean's post I
  7. I posted a link below to Legion's offering of the 030 type Saiga 12 with the factory magwell. I am thinking about purchasing one of these, but already have lots of cash tied up in Vepr 12 mags and don't want to buy a whole new set of mags. My questions pertain to the similarities or dissimilarities between the two mags, magwells, and mag catch. I read somewhere that the magwell specs and loactions are idenitcal betwwen the two models and that the mag catch was the only difference. Can anyone confirm this? If this is the case then I should be able to install a Vepr 12 mag catch on the Saig
  8. I have just recently converted two saiga 7.62 rifles back to the standard AK configuration and had problems with the hammers fitting in the receivers along with retaining plate and BHO lever on both rifles. The first rifle I used a Tapco G2 hammer and ended up cutting a bunch of material off one side of the hammer in order to make room for the retainer and BHO. I originally thought it was a quality control problem from Tapco so on the second rifle I used a Bulgarian hammer. I encountered the same damn problem! This time everything was so tight that I could not get the pin seated even after
  9. So no one has a schematic for a 5.5mm kit?
  10. At one time I seem to remember reading a thread where someone posted all the cutout dimensions and spacing for the AK100 Russian side folder. Naturally, now that I am ready to start my AK100 install I can't seem to find it. Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.
  11. Title really says it all. I have collected severals AK 7.62 rifles over the past year and only have a couple mags on hand. I am wanting to buy 5 or more steel mags per rifle, so I will be placing a large order. Having said that every dollar counts! Looking to buy "NEW" Russian or Bulgarian steel mags. If their are other european countries making new steel mags equivalent to the ones I listed then feel free to post those as well. I have checked ther typical places like Midway, Brownells, etc., but they all seem a little high($).
  12. Are these comps a direct gas port design or a chambered baffle design? The comp just looks so bulky like its a chambered design, but maybe that's because its just a prototype version like already mentioned. In my limited experience and research the direct gas or vector design similar to what Firebird uses gives the most felt recoil reduction. The chambered design allows the hot gas to slow down too much before it exits the comp and doesn't add much felt recoil reduction in "my opinion". Looks like you have found a way to successfully move the comp farther down the barrel than others and
  13. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/60498-just-a-suggestion-product-details/?gopid=579092 You were posting in this thread........ Maybe you forgot. evlblkwpnz talks about the newer 5.5mm pins and trunnions being weaker than the originals.
  14. I think you're looking for something like the Krebs 104k or 103ks. The proportions look perfect with the permanent brake. http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/krebs-custom-ak-104k-carbine-detail.html?Itemid=0 That krebs 104K rifle looks sick! The AK74 muzzle brake looks pretty cool as well, but definitely digging that look regardless of which muzzle brake. What all options are available for integrated gas/sight block combo that will fit Saiga barrels? I am aware of Krebs and Venom tactical which is a bolt on piece. Are their more options avai
  15. Atlantic Firearms has Saiga 7.62s back in stock! Don't know how long they have been back in stock, but they don't ever seem to stay for very long...... I missed out on them last time so I went ahead and picked up a couple! Never have too many AKs! http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=productdetails&virtuemart_product_id=1096&virtuemart_category_id=23&Itemid=762
  16. Just ordered my 2nd MKA through Atlantic Firearms. Didn't really need one, but for that price it was too hard to pass up! Atlantic sold me the gun at $599, but could not offer the free shipping that CTD is apparently offering. My order total was $630 including shipping. Honestly though, I was glad to pay an extra $30 for shipping and not have to order from CTD on sheer principle. Atlantic shipped my gun the "next day" after I provided my FFL dealer info. Now thats great service! Go Atlantic!!!!!
  17. Did you thread the barrel externally using the saiga M22 threads or is it a compression fit brake?
  18. Anyone messed around with shortening the barrells on these MKAs yet? I just ordered my first one from Tooth & Nail. I am already contemplating on cutting the barrell down to 18" and either internally threading for chokes like stock or externally threading like the saiga 12s. For that matter one could even go shorter than 18" and permanently attach a brake for an OAL of 18". I am just curious how these guns react to shorter barrels? Is it just like the saiga 12s where gas system mods will need to be made for 100% reliability?
  19. Any of the onlione stores have S12s back in stock yet? I don't see why it is taking so long for the importers to get caught up since most of your typical Saiga 12 stores did not or are not taking backorders........
  20. Very informative. I figured someone would have a few tricks to doing this. Great ideas, thanks! So you just used the pencil/pliers to trace the hole inside the block?
  21. I am mainly concerned with aligning the new gas ports with the block when moving the gas system back similar to The Tromix sbs builds. On my first saiga 12 build I moved the gas system back 2.25", but when I went to drill the new gas ports I unintentionally centered the first port inside the block which forced me to run 1 big single port instead of 3 or 4. I could have welded the single hole back up and repositioned for a 4 port configuration, but I was too pissed off at that point to mess with it. I have recently started my 3rd S12 build and I plan to move the gas system back 2.25" agai
  22. Just wondering when you all plan to have Saiga 12s back in stock. I have been monitoring your website pretty frequently and still none in stock. How much longer do I have to wait? Thanks!
  23. I should have chosen a better choice of words. I used "tang", but I was referring to the metal tab that hangs down from the sgm trunnion. I Just figured you would know what I was referring to since you already installed one. Maybe it was not a problem for you though. I did some searching and dug up a little more information on my concerns. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/71525-ar-stock-conversion-help-needed/?hl=%2Brear+%2Btrunnion&do=findComment&comment=694813 http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/61833-sgm-internal-trunion-mount/page__fromsearch__1
