  1. What about the little tang that sticks out towards the bottom of the sgm trunnion? I read somewhere that some people were complaining that it interferes with the shooter's hand while on the pistol grip. What is your experience? Does it serve a purpose?
  2. I have decided to switch the modular stock on my S12 over to a AR style collapsible stock. My main goal is to keep the over all length of the gun as short as possible so the SGM trunnion looks very appealing. I do remember reading though about how the SGM trunnion has a lower tab the interferes with the shooter's hand while on the pistol grip. Is this true? Does the tab serve a purpose or can it be removed? Also, do milspec and commercial buffer tubes have the same threads? Just wondering if I can interchange different style tubes into the SGM trunnion?
  3. the info is here you will just have to search around and find it. Oh, I don't really care. The mod worked great for me! I was just asking for infromational purposes for the thread and other users. Maybe no one knows why it is Soooo Bad! Lol!
  4. So can anyone elaborate on what the negative effects are with this mod or does everyone just know its somehow bad.......? I only ask because I did this mod to my carrier and it totally smoothed out the opening and closing of the bolt action on my gun. Did not even have to touch the actual bolt on my gun because the carrier rounded edges helped so much. I guess I just don't understand why it is "SO BAD" when it helped my gun cycle better? Maybe I did not remove enough metal to be in the "bad zone"? Lol.
  5. So you are condoning other users to hijack threads instead of simply using the SEARCH function. Good job buddy. There are probably half a dozen pics/threads floating around of what "Saiga" requested. Since you all have turned this into a FSB/brake thread I might as well contribute. Here you guys go. Use the search function and I am sure you can find more.......... http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/80014-k-pup-gk-01-cut-and-perm-sight-option-could-this-work/?hl=%2Bgk-01+%2Bfront+%2Bsight http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/13312-picture-post-lets-see-your-saiga-12/p
  6. I dont see how this has anything to do with the dicussion topic....... I also dont understand why people insist on hijacking someone's thread!
  7. The SGL12s have a chrome lined barrel........http://www.k-var.com/shop/SGL12-09.html
  8. I am really only interested in comparing recoil reduction between the two as mentioned earlier. I personally, don't care about chokes. So you are saying that the GK-01 gives more recoil reduction over a mid-barrel comp or you just like it better for whatever reason? I only ask because it is a little unclear to me after reading your post. Thanks.
  9. I am planning to add either mid-barrel comp or permanently attached GK-01 to my modified S12. If I go with the GK-01 then I will cut the factory barrel length down and permanently attach the brake for 18" OAL. If I go with the mid-barrel comp then I will leave barrel at 19" since cutting off 1" is too much trouble for nothing. I simply want to know which will give me the most recoil reduction of these two choices? Gun already has the gas system moved back 2.25" so cycling is not an issue either way. Cost is not a factor. Interested in recoil reduction/muzzle climb between these two op
  10. That's a deal. The Saiga 20 at my local shop was $899. Not really. When they were in stock, the best deal going was the sgl12-07 that kvar was selling for $879. These came into the country with std ak stocks and pistol grips with the trigger in the correct place. Not to mention no extra holes in the receiver and the proper ask trigger guard riveted in place. And the pg is a Russian saw style. I don't know why anyone bought the unconverted s12s over these anyhow. To me the extra 200 for the sgl made since I agree with this 100%. If these were available when I bought my first Saiga 12
  11. Finshed my first saiga 12 build a while back and was thinking I might want to pick up a 2nd gun just in case our lovely government decides to stop the importation of these guns in the near future. Any of our sponsors or other vendors have saiga 12s in stock?
  12. Well I spoke with K-Var today on the phone and they are actually just a distributor for the SGl12s. I found out that the FIME Group is the company who is actually importing the guns from the Russian factories. I then called FIME Group and the lady I spoke with informed me that they make the guns 922r compliant with arsenal parts, but I could not get an answer as to how they were able to import the guns setup for a pistol grip?
  13. Well dang that didn't last long. Already sold out! Hopefully some of our forum members had a chance to pick some up.
  14. CSS currently has 12 rounders in stock.........
  15. Hopefully someone can educate me on the different versions of the saiga 12s, because apparently I am behind. I purchased a s12 sporting model(IZ series) about 6 months ago at a gun show for $650. I have relocated the trigger group, added pistol grip, side folder, etc. A friend of mine did a s12 conversion a couple of years back and he is the guilty person for giving me my S12 addiction! When I originaly bought my s12 my friend informed me that they could not be imported in the "assault weapon" format which is why they had to be purchased as a sporting model and then converted which is what
  16. So what is everyone doing with the left over barrel after they cut their guns down to 8" short barrel shotguns? Just thought that if people are keeping them that maybe someone would be willing to sale me the left over barrel from a 19" or 22" gun that has been cut to a 8"-10" SBS? Thanks
  17. So did the TAC 47 magwell utilize the same three holes that you already drilled for the CSS trigger guard? Did the front of the new TAC 47 magwell use any of the previously drilled JTE holes? Pictures would be nice.
  18. Ok everyone, I am almost finished with my first S12 conversion in which a built similar to a Tromix conversion, but I have I few more questions now that I have shortened the gas system? I shortened the gas system 2.25" as per Tony Rumore's recommendation in a different thread and also purchased the Tromix shorter gas tube and piston. After finishing the machine work on the barrell I re-assembled the gun with the new Tromix parts and now the bolt carrier is about 1/8" - 3/16" from completely closing against the reciever with the stock gas plug installed. So here are my questions: Do I short
  19. Maybe Tac 47 will post up some install info/pics for us since there are others interested in this topic as well. I would think it would help them sell more of these products anyways.
  20. Just curious if anyone has close up pics of how this unit installs? Does the factory magazine release tab have to be removed? Does the Tac 47 Magwell reuse the release tab pin to mount the new magwell simialr to the SGM magwell? Does the install require drill/tap holes like the JTE magwell install? Since a trigger guard is attached to this magwell, will the 3 holes I already drilled for my CSS TG be reused or will I have to drill new holes in another location for the new incorporated TG/magwell? I have all these questions because I plan on buying a magwell and I don't mind spending mor
  21. I have just recently turned down the barrel on my S12 in order to move the gas block back 2.25". My only question now is what hand guard options are available now that I have completed this mod. I don't really care if it is a direct bolt on or modded hand guard to fit 2.25" block relocations. Pics would be great.
  22. Alright guys, I finally got my barrel turned downed down in order to move the gas block 2.25" to the rear. I have developed a few more questions though....... How do I removed the factory gas tube from the sight block? Will the new Tromix shorter tube just press in? Another problem with my gun along with many others is the gas ports did not align with the block from the factory. You can see in my 2nd attachment that the ports are shifted a little to the left from the gas system placement. Having said this, what technique should i use to drill the new gas ports and ensure that they correc
