  1. It doesn't replace an imported, listed part. The problem is the count of listed, imported parts (no more than 10), not the number of US parts. Bill
  2. Guns at Cost On Point Firearms (as "RAA Saiga") Stanley's Pro Shop where I got mine... free shipping! Bill
  3. While I don't have them yet, lotta folks swear by the Mojo sights. Bill
  4. So, am I the only getting these recurring-yet-sporadic IPS Driver Error messages trying to use the forum? Bill
  5. BattleRifleG3 makes a modified FCG that can be used with the stock position. It replaces 2 of the 3 parts. Adding a piston yes, you're still short one. There are threads around about modifying and adding magazine followers and floorplates; either of those would bring you to the required count. Bill
  6. Bushnell has a Banner model that's 1-4x32. Supposedly for shotgun use, but I plan to put one on my 223. Bill
  7. As long as you don't add a non-US pistol grip, you're good to go! Bill
  8. Not to be taken as 100% authoritative, but since the stock is not a folder or retractable, it seems it would be OK, as would the handguard. The AR mag adapter could be a problem if you stick a mag capable of holding more than 10 rounds in it, but if you stay at 10 or less, should be OK. Bill
  9. Should be good! Magazine = 3 parts (mag, follower, floorplate) Stock = 1 (unless it included a handguard, then = 2) The standard 223 has 14 applicable imported parts. Adding a US pistol grip is, I think, a zero-sum practice, as long as you stay with 10 or less imported. Bill
  10. Unless you remove the retaining spring wire completely, there's a LOT of wiggling to get the pins lined up with the holes, and then they pull right out! I just moved the wire out of the retaining groove, then used a good pair of needle-nose pliers and pulled from the head side. Bill
  11. Have you actually purchased from them? Bill

    S-223-96?

You guys hear something? CSM, who's that in your avatar? Bill
  13. Mea culpa! You're right! I've read plenty of other things about mods, I installed Dinzag's wonderful bullet guide, figured out how to mod my Orlites and stock mags, but didn't think to search on this one, since it seemed like it shoulda been a "drop in" dealio! And, so that's what the silver plate is on the right side whose spring is such a PITA to deal with! Next time I take her down to put the new stuff, I'm putting a slave pin right right behind the one I take out! Thanks, all, and esp. Tony (I get to use my new micrometer! woo-hoo!), who took pity on this semi-n00b! Bill
  14. I have the modified TAPCO G2 FCG that BattleRifleG3 sells for unconverted Saigas, and I fought the beast long and hard this weekend! I finally gave up and compared the new to the old, and lo and behold, the hammer assembly of the G2 is maybe 1/16 - 3/32 wider than the stock one. Wide enough that, while I can get it into the rifle, I can't get enough clearance for the retaining "wire" to fit into the pin. Has anyone seen this before? I guess I need to get my stones and just grind a bit off both sides, yes? TIA! Bill
  15. I've never used their rifle ammo, but I've got almost 2 cases of Fiocchi 9mm handgun ammo for practice, and so far it has been quite good stuff! Bill
  16. Make me cringe a bit, but you can tell this instructor's heart's in the right place if you watch all the way through: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=29c_1181548597 Bill
  17. So tell me, do the SWAT guys stop by your house on the way to a job, to arm themselves? Bill
  18. If you do a quick search, you'll see that Orlites are some the prefferred hi-cap mags of choice for those who had added a bullet guide. I got Dinzag's guide mod and with just a bit bit of sanding/grinding/filing, the Orlites work just great! I used my Dremel, but I think maybe a flat file would have made the job easier and look nicer, albeit a bit slower. Thanks for the heads-up, though.... I can always use a couple more! Bill
  19. Doesn't reduce the import parts count, though, unless it came with a muzzle brake, which few do. It's not how many US parts you have, it's how many imported parts.
  20. Shweeet! It had been, oh, 46, 47 since I shot a rifle (.22 bolt action) when I took my freshly cleaned 20" out to the range, and I was stunned by putting the first 3 shots into or touching the bullseye at 100 yds! Can't wait to take her to the 3-gun match at my club next month! A HUGE bargain, even cadillac converted! Bill
  21. Thanks for the post! Very illustrative! Now to see if I can forni^H^H^H^Habricate my own kludge-copy! Bill
  22. As a fellow CZ owner, I can tell you, there are some excellent concealment IWB holsters out there for your 75! If they don't see it, they won't squawk! Since VT I have started carrying at work, though it's prohibited for now. But I understand, everybody does what they can! Sorry about your not liking the heat! Our university here in central TX is often looking for Sys Admins.... but hey! It's only over 100 a week or two! Bill
  23. Given this thread's age, I suspect BRG3 has passed on the idea in favor of his woodwork. If so, maybe he could pass his ideas along to Dinzag? If not, COUNT ME IN! As long as... it's still less than $50 AND will work w/Dinzag's bullet guides. Bill
  24. OK, for all the budding product photogs out there, building catalogs, whatever, check out the Lowel Ego. They sell a two-panel kit with 2 light panels and the "sweep" for about $210. Disclaimer: I've never tried one, nor do I sell them, but as a semi-pro photog, I want one! Bill
