  1. Yeah, how'd it turn out? Speaking of muzzle devices: Has Tapco stopped making the Slot? I can't find a retailer with one in stock and I've tried dozens of sites. The guy on eBay with the look-alike charges triple. Slant doesn't measure up, and I'm not thrilled with the 74. EDIT:: Figures, as soon as you ask you find the answer. I found a discussion on another forum about some failures that looked pretty scary. One poster quoted Tapco's response about the issue. They are discontinued pending a redesign. The failures made me think of another issue. I store my autos
  2. Long dormant and I'm sorry I missed the fun. But just to comment on the side arm idea: I'm pretty sure attaching a pistol to a rifle requires calling it an SBR and is otherwise illegal. Just kickin the hive here.
  3. Thanks mancat. It's nice to hear from someone with some understanding and experience on the issue. Thankfully, I have other options for distances out to and beyond 1000yds ! Happy shooting.
  4. I have a 7.62x39 and added the side mount rail and an open reflex type sight. The top rail is obviously off-center to the left. I've sighted it in at 50 yds and it holds true at 100 yds too. I expect some sort of parallax to cause the point of impact to eventually move further and further to the left as distances grow but in the distances that I've shot, it doesn't. I also expect the opposite as distances are nearer, but that hasn't been obvious either even down to 50ft. My question: The rifling is right-hand twist which will cause a rightward horizontal drift. Does the off-center
  5. Okay, you seem to be on the wrong track to achieve reliability. Adding oil to your gas system isn't going to help anything. Beak in is a minor route to improve reliability, not achieve it. You need to check your gas system and get it right. At least do a proper polish and reprofile if the bolt carrier/bolt and hammer. Adding junk to your gas system will if anything create new cycling problems once fouling begins to accumulate. As it turned out, I didn't try adding those oil drops. I ran 1 3/8 oz pheasant loads 75rds no issues, then 25rds of 12 pellet #00 and that worked 100% too. All
  6. I hate to resurrect this and is a little off topic, but I just bought a k-var buttstock for my unconverted s-12. I want a buttstock for hunting and have a tapco t6 now. Some reasons are: the tapco single-point mount is right behind the saiga sight mount and I have to remove the sling mount to slide on the sight rail. the other issue is that the t6 is wobbly and I don't like how it carries or feels to shoot. It hasn't arrived yet, but I see now that the stock doesn't curve down like a factory unconverted stock would and I only got a buttstock with no pistol grip. Does this stock need a pis
  7. Thank you to all responding. rnemhrd: Before contacting Legion, I cleaned and dried the whole thing and cycled 'til jelly-armed. It felt much smoother afterwards but that didn't lead to reliability. (when I bought it, cycling the charger felt like sanding something) topmaul: the sucking sound the gooey puck makes when wet really is inticing. I think if the dry setup doesn't work I will gradually add drops of oil until just wet enough to seal tighter and see what happens. I don't want a tarry mess or face-full of fire/slop but if it makes this thing cycle it will help me get it broken
  8. I hate to resurrect this very old thread but I have to beat this maybe-not-quite-dead horse. My s12 is a 2011 model imported by Legion. The gas system has 4 nicely exposed and clean ports. As the weapon is new and under warranty, I really want to make it work before I go and modify it or change out internals. I contacted them when it failed to cycle #00 2 3/4 buck on setting 2 and 3" magnum shells on 1 get jammed against the breach. They responded: "The shot gun needs at least 1and a1/4 once of shot for back pressure and needs to run wet with lube not oil but white Lithium grease, on
