Thanks for the info. Now I'm thinking that I might be able to do 10" without moving the gas block. What do you think? My gunsmith, who's also a machinist, has it now looking at it to see if it's something that he can do. Looks like I need to get started on the paperwork so the waiting can begin. GregB72

Recently got a good deal on an older (2001) Saiga 12 that had been converted. Considering SBR'ing it. Should I go with a 8" or 12" barrel? I'm in NC, could I start with 12" and cut it to 8" later, or do the ATF forms require that you specify barrel lenght? Also, mine is shooting low brass walmart birdshot on setting 2, should I be worried that the gas ports are too large and will damage the gun with slugs or buck? Only shot birdshot so far. Also, what's the effective range of the 8" and 12" SBR Saiga with buck shot? Thanks for any info. GregB72
