  1. I want to be friends with "MT Predator" lol - I like research and testing ranges.. retired at 45 due to disability. ex-LEO, security, no mil. Crime lab with research for a college. Was on the way to be a "Murse" at a major hospital before disability. I got the saiga 12 for 3 gun matches.
  2. a rose is still a rose by any other name.. I think "gun" is slang and shows lack of knowledge of the subject. I call it firearm or weapon, or refer to its 'tool' name - pistol, rifle, shotgun. It is a tool, there are bad carpenters that don't deserve to swing a hammer. All we can do is let our work speak for our skill and intentions. "This is my rifle, this is my gun" "This one is for killin', this one is for fun" "This is my rifle, this is my gun" "This one is for killin', this one is for fun" ...
  3. I see people carry their CC weapons in to the shows, those are the ones that are loaded and have to be cleared before entering. We have a dirt barrel that the pistol is supposed to be pointed in - but they don't use it lol. Those bringing in cased weapons to be sold or traded, yea - you should have cleared that weapon before you cased it.
  4. also those shells are about 1.5" long? so they won't even cycle from a magazine into the breech. You have to hand drop them in a open chamber. I would try them in a regular shotgun for emergency. Be aware the 'bullet' is a aluminum shell - not brass, copper, or plastic, - so not sure how that will scuff up a barrel. Take one apart ; ) I believe some will not even have any gun powder, just primer. emergency use...Although now I want to fire off a 20 round drum of 12ga flares ....

    Oh Shit. Here we go...

wag the dog wag the dog - look - AWB! (hides debit ceiling raise)
  6. raped the shit out of Dick's (sounds gay lol!) - $3.99 12ga slugs Tru-Ball 5 rnd - no limit. No 5.56mm seen. 7.62x39mm 220 pack about $175.
  7. ammo - Dick's sports - Truball (federals?) 12 ga 2 3/4 slugs - $3.99 for 5 rounds. No 5.56mm til march but they will continue to sell firearms and ammunition. Maybe they will ban the Mississippi arms barrel shroud for the Saiga 12 - I got mine $99
  8. better buy it - they are running $1,200+ around here
  9. I sold my GSG5, it was a POS, the design had issues. But I like where this thread is going - switch to a different caliber until this shit blows over (or up?) and .22lr is reasonable. I am waiting for a 3 Gun Match to come to the club - I want to see if the turn out will be less since the ammo 'shortage'. Oh yea - I will definitely start picking up brass on the range. If I don't use it, it might be good for trade..
  10. yea I wished you fired it stock - so you can baseline how the saiga 12 works prior to any mods, then you do one mod at a time to test it out. I don't have a low-brass kit, so can't comment.
  11. hey can you explain the sight failure? I use sightmarks - I stopped using the $34 ones, the $99/4129 ones ( copy of the EOD halo sight) - more protection around the sight.
  12. Sitting on it until I find resupply - 12ga, 5.56mm - both out or doubled in price. not funny at all.
  13. same here 5.56 is bad/ one box - no box. I shoot 200 rounds a pop, where will I get it now... I can't see why a company like serbian PRVI/Igman - a foreign company is losing profit by not ramping up production - like they care about US policies. Is ammunition being stopped at the border?

    My Saiga Conversion

some people asking about this - bumped.. Good job, nice pics!
  15. Well - you only shot it once - try it a few more times. I notice my hold on the Saiga just had to be centered on the forearm - I use a Mag Well Grip on the AR I normally shoot - so it was a matter of habit to shift my forearm hold forward. I too would not try a plastic pistol grip on the aluminum forearm rail - there is not much for those to 'grip' on the rail, it can fail. Keep working it. Otherwise, just switch to magazines - you will still have the fastest reloading shotgun...
  16. evlblkwpnz - MY NEW BUDDY!
  17. hey check this one out - http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/83524-chaos-titan-quad-rail/ I think if you look around, there are so many rail variations to choose from, short to long rails, round, square, co-witness, etc

    Chaos Titan quad rail

hey looks nice - different look than regular rail kits..
  19. I wanted folding BTW - not sure if they are available for NON-converted Saigas. This was a 'spur of the moment' purchase, I would not normally buy something like a stock, made of plastic. The Tapco stock has a retainer hole for your sling to clip into - plastic, with a small screw, into plastic. Believe me, I don't expect this weapon (too heavy, long, and bulky - it ain't a FPS SBS) to make it beyond my front door in SHTF, I plan to hose down the mob on my front lawn enough to make it to the BMW in the driveway and then switch to the AR and Glock for the ride down the expressway lol....
  20. my .02 ( I got change!) As a NRA Range Safety Officer for the gun club I am at- its a 3 gun place - so everyone gets trigger time. WE DO HAVE THE PERMISSION OF THE PROPERTY OWNER, the gun club, TO INSPECT FOR SAFE HANDLING as well as all kinds of ill crap we see - people smoking K2 (yep caught one) before shooting, drinking, People that "Just" brought an semi-auto rifle or pistol - and "felt like it" to blast off as fast as they can - regardless they are hitting the ground and above the backstop. I am a regular 3 gun shooter, and we even have LEO bring their weapons here. If anyone is going full auto - and they don't look like cops - we get to ask them for the required paperwork. Granted - I have no idea what it looks like - but I do know that if your answer is "What papers" - you are not shooting anymore at this range. If someone is going full auto - it might be a malfunctioning weapon - and we can order it off the line. The club is very liberal - it has individual bays for outdoor shooting, you set up your own 3 gun drill. I know the difference between someone handling a firearm safely - no matter the rate of fire. And per insurance regulations, I have to uphold the club range rules so my club will still be around in a few years.
  21. meh, got one last year... j/k lol
  22. Hell yea, I would have moved the guns first before the bed lol! Maybe there was a divorce and the clueless ex-wife left it as 'junk' 1+ for hexing VD on bank people!
  23. Michigan is not bad, gov snyder and AG shuette approved suppressors so you can see people signing up for them all the time. We have lots of hunting, so - lots of gun owners. Oh yea - we got the jolly militia groups too lol. So far - no crazy talk about AWB in my state. I have to check , I think they made it easier to purchase a pistol, - while they did not approve CC in schools.
  24. Well lets look at the #456 rule of Combat (yes, they exist!) "Rule #456 - If you can hump it, you can shoot it." that rule means that if you can carry a Dillon M134, its battery, and about 10,000 rounds - you can bring it into my AO. If you consider the stuff the guys mentioned above - food, water, ammunition, medical kit (never know, you MIGHT get shot!) camp gear, survival crap, etc - maybe even a Molle' plate carrier with ESAPI plates - How much can you carry and still be combat effective? Plan on riding a golf cart in to combat? If you are stocking up - buy all the drums you can get, then I can buy them from you private sale to bypass any hi-cap bans lol. Just don't buy any 12 ga ammo - I plan to barter with that.
  25. Well - I did not do my conversion yet - so I got the Tapco collapsible stock - for NON-converted Saiga. I also got the Mississippi Arms barrel shroud - to protect the barrel from being dinged - really! UTG quad rail took mere seconds to install - all aluminum - and they provide the cool rubber grips. I actually have the SightMark QD ultra red dot sight on it now. Single point sling works ok for 3 Gun matches, but I might switch to 2 point sling for being out in the field. Also add the MD Arms V-plug - easy drop in. The choice for magazines - either you will get a bunch of magazines - 8,10, 12, whatever or you will chose to go with a drum - I use 2, ProMag 20 round drums. pre-sandy hook prices UTG quad rail kit - with long and short rail, rubber pads - $99 Tapco stock kit - non-converted - $65 ProMag 20 rnd Drums - $89 each (heard they hit $140 around here..) Sightmark - any $99 to $129 sight - avoid the $34 ones, they break easy. Single point sling - $30-40 Mississippi Arms barrel shroud - $99 I go to SGammo.com BTW, usually they have stock... Good Luck - its fun!
