  1. EVERYTHING IS TENTATIVELY SOLD (PENDING RECEIPT OF FUNDS). I have 3 items for sale (AS A PACKAGE DEAL) 1) Unaltered Saiga 223 (Purchased New 11-30-12. 922R Compliant with 30 round mags. See Receipt. I shot 32 rounds through this weapon.) 2) Almost 1000 rounds (968 to be exact) of Federal 5.56X45 55Gr MCBT Ball ammo (XM193BK) (Purchased New 11-30-12 See Receipt) 3) Colt LE6920 (NIB Unfired. Purchased New 5-10-13 See Receipt) Click here to read about it: http://www.colt.com/ColtLawEnforcement/Products/ColtLawEnforcementCarbine.aspx I'm just not as enamored by these weapons a
  2. I didn't know what a "Saiga" was until I saw one at my LGS about a month ago, and educated myself about them through much internet research. I had just never been interested in "black guns". And I didn't buy my Saiga 223 Sporter to convert it. I like it box stock, just the way it is. Although she now wears a Sure Fire 30 round mag and a Tapco handguard to be 922 compliant. I like the stock open sights (don't have optics on any of my guns), and I even like the mediocre trigger (which really isn't "that" bad). She'll do everything I'll ever ask of her and then some. What a fun gun! ! ! Oh, I als
  3. I'm using Sure Fire 30 rounds mags in my stock Saiga 223 Sporter. They required no modifications to work. It's not unusual for a Sure Fire mag to require just a wee bit of coaxing with a file to fit properly. Mine didn't. They worked just fine as is. Don <><
  4. OP here. Just received and installed the stiffer recoil spring. Thank God for YouTube videos on how to do this. It was a bit of a chore, but I got'r done. The new 30 round Sure Fire mags fit tight, but they fit. Don't see any need to file on them at this point. Don <><
  5. Same here. I just received my 30 round Sure Fire mags for my unconverted Saiga 223 Sporter. They fit tight, but they fit. I don't see any need to file on them at this point. Don <><
  6. Hi Alvah. If you're starting with a box stock unaltered Saiga 223 Sporter, and all you wanna do is use high capacity mags, the cheapest and easiest way to be 922r compliant is to put on a Tapco hand guard (around $45) and use Sure Fire mags (around $30). That's all it takes. That's all I did to my 223 to be 922r compliant. Don <><
  7. Hi Alvah. I wasn't looking for an AK when I purchased my brand spanking new unaltered Saiga 223 sporter a week ago ($399). When I fondled it in the store, I just liked it the way it is. Other than adding a Tapco handguard so I'm 922r compliant when I use my 30 round Sure fire mags, I have no intentions of converting it. I like open sights, and that's what all of my guns have. No optics. I'm perfectly happy with the stock open sights and mediocre trigger, which really isn't "that" bad. I can shoot pretty decent groups out to 50 yards. Haven't tried it at longer distances yet. But I'm sure it's
  8. Hi Montec. I've been shooting and reloading for over 40 years. I have a shooting range on my property. I reclaim all of my lead for re-casting. As my only recurring costs are for powder and primers, I can reload any caliber that can use a cast bullet (sans gas check) for $2.00 for a box of 50. No that's pretty darn cheap! Looks like you've got a good start on your equipment. You'll acquire all kinds of bit and pieces as you partake in this fabulous and very rewarding endeavor. Go to youtube and do a search on reloading. You'll find a ton of videos. Happy reloading and always be safe,
  9. Hi Pony-Express. I've been a shooter and reloader for over 40 years. Reloading is a a natural extension of the shooting sport. It's like a photographer who develops his own pictures. Or a race car driver who works on his own engine. The rewards are many. You won't really save any money, as you will just shoot more for the same amount. Nothing wrong with that! If ya wanna start out cheap, the Lee Challenger Breech Lock kit for $109.99 from Midwayusa is a good deal and will certainly get the job done. http://www.midwayusa...anniversary-kit You should really watch the below video first.
  10. A few days ago I bought a brand new, unconverted Saiga 223 Sporter ($399). Today was 32 degrees (cold!) but it was the first chance I had to try it on my home shooting range. Normally I would start at 25 yards and go from there. But just for the heck of it, I went to 50 yards. Ammo was bulk Federal 55 grain MCBT ball (XM193BK). None of my guns have any optics. I prefer open sights. From a bench rest using just the stock open sights, 1st shot was on the target. That's always a good sign! Target was a 9" paper plate. Picture is just the center of the plate. Took a total of 9 shots and they're al
  11. I have many rifles, pistols, and revolvers, along with a black powder rifle and revolver, and just one shotgun. Among all of this is new unconverted Saiga 223 Sporter which is a hoot to shoot! I have a shooting range on my property, and shoot a lot. There are no optics on any of my guns. I just prefer plain old open stock sights. I want to know where each shot lands. I use 8" paper plates for out to 50 yards. I spray paint them orange or black. I staple newspaper to my backboard, and staple the paper plate in the middle. If I miss, I can see where the shot went on the clean newspaper. I use ma
  12. For what it's worth, the guy in this video says AK74 mags works in a Saiga 223. Anybody know about this? My questions is, why would you want to??? They have some here: http://www.rrcfirear...4-magazines.cfm Don <>< http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GarFayzEqbo
  13. Hi Indy. I'd like to work up some real low velocity loads. 1000 to maybe 2000 FPS. They don't even have to function the action. I don't care if it turns in to a single shot. It would be kinda nice not to have to chase that darn brass. I'd just like some cheap trigger time with my Saiga instead of useing a 22LR rifle. Heck, if I kept the velocities low enough, I may not even need to use gas checks. Wha-da-ya-thunk? Don <><
  14. Boy! Am I glad I caught this thread. I'm just about to order some 30 round Saiga specific SGM mags for my unconverted, and never to be converted, Saiga 223. I would have futzed around and got all frustrated thinking I ordered the wrong mags, or they sent me the wrong mags. Now I know that they'll probably need just a wee bit of filing to get them to fit. I'm also buying a Tapco Intrafuse hand guard from one of our members to be 922 compliant. Don <><
  15. OP here again. I just bought a Tapco Intrafuse handguard from one of our members. So when I install it, I can use 30 round SGM mags, and be 922 compliant. Is this correct? Are these the mags I need? http://www.saiga-12....prod=SSGMP22330 Thanks guys, Don <><
