  1. They hang shells down, no problems dropping ammo yet. Also when you grab them, they are setup to naturally go into the mag opening facing the proper direction. Shells to the bottom and brass towards the front, grab from the belt with left hand and right into the magwell.

I need to give that a try. I've been carrying them shells up with brass to the back. I was concerned about leaving a trail of 12 ga. shells behind me.

    Thanks.

  2. I use some homemade belt clips I bent out of flat aluminum...they work great and cheap too. Just put some HD Velcro and your done.

    Here is a pic. (they are 2 1/2" W x 3" L)

Will these hang on the belt with the shells up or shells down? Kinda looks like your's is shell down. If so, does that work well?

    Thanks.

  3. Need I ask?

We want lots of videos of Team Firebird and MKA's in action!

For us poor souls that don't get to join in the fun.

    Bill

I'm not on the team, but I'll post some videos smile.png

Nine out of the 12 stages use shotgun, so there should be plenty of action...

Excellent! I'm looking forward to them.

Good luck and have a safe trip.

  4. Clips can be bought for $7 a pop from R and R racing (or I think Midway sells them too), or you can make your own with a piece of plastic and a heat source.

I made some of these from 3/32" Kydex and attached them to the magazines with black duct tape. I was able to get 8 of them from a 12" x 12" sheet.

I thought I was somewhat ingenious until someone pointed out they are available from R & R.

  5. I was kinda surprised to see this on GB...since I haven't even received mine yet...the price was a little shocking too.

From the pictures I see it was one of the first thirty. (No "S" or "F" engraved for the safety.) I got mine last Thursday and it has the engraving.

    Bill

Only 11 went out without F/S engraved on them.

I know the number of lowers without the engraving was low. I had hoped mine was one of them.

  6. I just got one of these to mount on my new Tac-12 lower. I will let everyone know how it goes after testing. Here is a link.

That looks like the buttstock Firebird Precision puts on the 922 compliance guns they sell through Centerfire. I have one of these and it works well.

Good basic stock. Strong enough for Firebird so its strong enough for me.

  7. u are right i contacted a friend in sweden and he has an internal one too. here in austria and around austria all have external ones. no idea why. i guess i will have to go somewhere where they can measure the thread and then try to find a choke that works and if not buy a saiga one and have it rethraeded

So far I don't think we can get replacement barrels for the MKA1919 here in the states. Is the situation the same in Austria and Sweden?

    Bill

  8. I would send the barrel to someone, have the external part hacked and then rethread for internal chokes if it was me.

Fritz is "on the other side of the pond". Cutting and re-threading the barrel might be a good idea as long as it does not make the barrel too short for his local laws & regulations. Depending on his location, he might have a good chance at purchasing a stock barrel with internal choke threads.

  9. What is this new lowre, and why is it better than the one that came with my shotgun?

Its precision cut from aluminum. Solves some problems we have with the polymer lowers (feeding high cap mags) and adds a few pounds weight to a very light 12 ga shotgun.

    Bill

    Thanks Flatland.

Did you spring for new lower?

I was advised that it is scheduled to ship on Monday (tomorrow).

  10. It would be hell ugly, but if you have the old plastic, drill some tiny holes on each side fill with plastic weld, clean the areas on the break first of course, and then lightly "paint the cracks on the outside, let sit.

This is a super temp solution, but I've done some crazy things with a little ingenuity and a $6 tube of plastic weld to get through until a replacement could be had.

I was thinking the same thing but with either JB Weld or PVC primer and cement. But first they would need to modify the stock adapter so it no longer causes the stress point.

  12. I'm going to get my cousin to invite me to the ATF/FBI/DHS training range for the open day when she's back for training and duct tape a bunch of spare parts to my gun and see what happens. and mag couple all factory mags. Surely if there is an issue we'll find out?

Be sure to have someone let us know your forwarding address in case you need some smokes for trading and vaseline for all the new friends you'll make.

  13. my mka lower receiver just broke ware the buttstock adapter plate mounts, the top half snaped off not sure if its safe to shoot

Just out of curiosity, any idea how many rounds have been fired and were they hot loads?

Also,is this an "XN" model or possibly an early serial number gun?

    Thanks.

    Bill

  14. havent seen anything on line saying there selling them yet any idea on a price

Current price for the TAC-12 aluminum lower is $375 + $20 for shipping and insurance. Unless you already have the 922 compliant fire control group, you will want to order that too for $150 (trigger, hammer, disconnector, safety). You will need the bolt hold back latch from your polymer lower to complete the transformation.

There will be a wait, but it sounds like they are expecting a bunch ready to deliver between now and mid-May.

Call or e-mail Nanci at Firebird Precision. That's what I did.

    Bill

(last second addition - Some who are getting the new TAC-12 lowers may be willing to sell their polymer lowers. Since it is not the serialized part (i.e. not a gun, just a part), no FFL transfer of this part is required and you get it through regular mail, Fed-Ex or UPS.)

  15. So why you changing your lower, on your MKA?

Cause mine is broke. It runs great with the factory 5 round magazines but the first several rounds from a 15 round magazine run straight into the feed ramp. I've played with the gun and the magazine and finally visited with Anubis for suggestions. So far it still jams.

The cure is to either have Firebird install one of their new aluminum feed ramps in my polymer lower or get one of the new TAC-12 aluminum lowers. Also the TAC-12 will add about 2 pounds to the weight of the gun and to me thats a plus.

Actually I ordered the TAC-12 before I started having problems with the polymer lower because I was concerned with its longevity. For a while I was putting 6 or more boxes of shells through it per week. In January I finally got access to a range that lets me practice for USPSA and 3 gun so I've gone a little overboard on the shooting compared to the prior several years. And its just plain fun to shoot.

So far it has held together but I did not want to wait for a failure to replace it. (The polymer lower will not be sold and I'll keep it in the safe should I ever need it.)

    Bill

  16. That's what I would think too, there is no way to use it all at the same time..... so I would think each mag parts would count seperately.

What are your thoughts about the mag extensions that use factory(imported) 5 rounders with a US made extension?

JMHO, you are still using a foreign made magazine body (along with a USA made extension) so no change in the foreign made part count. But you will be using the USA made mag base plate so that is -1 foreign part.

I've been watching for replacement followers (USA or foreign made) and so far have not been able to locate one. I'm putting together a couple of Firebird Precision's 15 round magazine conversions. Part of the change includes modifying the follower. Not tough if you take your time but I was concerned I would take one too far and be in need of a new follower.
