  1. Equal time here. I Sent the mags in on the fifth, and just got them back today. While it's disappointing that I couldn't use them, I am happy with the factory mags, and do appreciate that they were willing to exchange them. I will also post this in the other thread.

  3. I have also been having problems. I posted a thread about it with pics. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=51003&st=0 The front feed ramp/lug/tab on the mag is catching either the bullet tip, or the case mouth, and it's chipping away that part of the mag. Also, The hammer will sometimes follow the bolt so that, when the gun cycles to eject a spent case and feed a new round, the hammer will not be cocked. I wrote Surefire and told them about these problems. I also informed them that I have two factory mags that have probably over 300 rounds (probably closer to 5
  4. I may have found something that could be the problem, but want some input from others who have done the conversion on the .308. I noticed that the AK disconector spring that I bought from K-var is much weaker than the original spring. Unfortunately the original spring does not work because it's too wide (I'm sure others who have done the conversion know this already). IOW, the original spring won't work (too wide), and the regular AK spring won't work (too weak). What are others using?
  5. Anyone know how to contact Surfire? I've been scouring their website, and found no email or phone number. I also don't know if this isn't going to happen with the factory mags.
  6. Okay folks, Here's are the symptoms. I did the conversion a few years ago, and right away the gun was running the bullet tips into the lug on the mags. I haven't had a problem with my factory mags, but they have only been used once after the conversion. Here's what is happening to the mags. Using Wolf ammo, which brings up another problem. Sometimes it will eject and feed, but the hammer won't cock. I've just been chalking it up to Wolf. Any ideas. Please.
  7. I ended up using a tapper pin for the slave. The original disconnector spring was too long in it's orriginal condition for my new FCG. When I put the disconnector spring in the new disconnector, the disconnector srping hung out 1/4" longer than when it was in the original disconnector. I had to cut it to make things work. After cutting off 1/4" I did manage to get things lined up on the slave pin, but the spring was so tight that the disconnector had almost no movement at all. It needed to be trimmed down some more than the initial 1/4". I'm using an FSE FCG that someone sold me, and it d
  8. Thanks for the help. I tried something along those lines. I used some heavy planer board line and a pair of channel locks. I found that once I finally got a pin in place that the spring was too long even after I had cut 1/4" off of it already. I also bent the spring in the process. I cut approximately another 1/8" off and it's not only easier to put in but also functions more like the original when in place. I'll probably still order a replacement spring since this one is bent, and too wide for the disconnector spring seat. This should work in the meantime.
  9. Do those mags work in the Saiga without modification?
  10. How about the Chinese Norinco ammo? Does anyone know about that? I'm wondering because I saw some at a store last week.
  11. My apologies. I posted in the wrong thread. Wasn't trying to hijack.
  12. As an update to this thread, I ordered some on Dec. 22. He emailed me about a day later saying that it was on back order and asked it I wanted out of the deal. I told him I could wait for the order. One Dec. 27 he told me he didn't know when he would be getting any more in, and I again told him it wasn't a problem. Today I received a notice via email stating that my order had been cancled.
  13. Well, the 12 is certainly sounding sweeter and sweeter, so will probably go on a list of things I want. However, there are priorities and that's down the list for now.
  14. He does have one of those right now, and I was looking at it today. If I do get one, it's going to have to wait. My next goal is to stock up on ammo and reloading supplies since there seems to be a shortage. I haven't done much reading on the 12. Still trying to learn the .308 and 7.62x39. May have to venture over to the 12 forum.
