  1. i did a 7.62x39 conversion a few monthes back. my friend has a saiga 12 he wants converted to a pistol grip. any major differences? i'm told the trigger guard should be welded rather than bolted/riveted on due to higher recoil. anything else i should know?
  2. nah that's all original still. i feel like that might be a positive in a way. i've seen a few butchered bullet guides poking around the forums. well, if your not impressed with the accuracy of the saiga, I'm not sure you'll be any happier with anouther ak. I'd just finish the conversion myself, but If you don't want to then get what you can out of it and get something you like. i'm really not expecting better accuracy. just looking for more of a classic AK look.

  4. You need to talk to Dinzag. He'll help you make your Saiga look like an AK. yeah... that'll end up costing me more in the long run.... and to be perfectly honest, i'm not all that impressed with the accuracy.
  5. i have a converted saiga 7.62x39 in excellent condition. RSA adjustable trigger, US compliance stock and pistol grip. i got the grip and stock from K-Var. standard black synthetic parts. I just have the one original 10 round mag. i've got maybe 300 rounds through it. i have 450 or so into the gun. could i expect to get 400 for it? there's an egyption AK and a SAR 1 at the local shop. 450 for the SAR (unfired) and 500 for the egyptian.... or maybe something off gunbroker. just not really feelin the saiga. i want an AK, but i want one that LOOKS like an AK. i'm goin to

  7. i'd say if the threat is outside your house, you stay inside, generally. about all you can do for yourself by popping the front door open, gun in hand is either get shot, or shoot someone unjustifiably. this dude needs some new roommates though.
  8. it's a rectangular indent about .75x1.5" on each side of where the magazine inserts into the receiver. newer saiga 7.62x39's have them, older ones do not. it just means your gun is closer to the military AK if you have them. it may also work a little better with military style mags (after you get a bullet guide of course)
  9. I don't know bro...Indy has some of his barrels threaded I think? I would assume if threaded barrels aren't legal, a slip-on brake would be the way to go, unless the law states that brakes & hiders are a no-no...I have no legal basis for my reasoning. I can get pretty much any parts you want - I frequently order from most of the major supply houses. cool man thanks. i'll have to talk to indy about it i guess. maybe once the tax returns come in i'll get some more stuff. i still gotta at least do a bullet guide before hillary tramples on the constitution.
  10. beware the evil 10/22 upgrades .....i bought one.....started upgrading.....i now have 4.....only one of which is still stock.....too much fun to mod them....so easy to do.....wife thinks i'm nuts..... yah i had a jamming issue with mine, which i have finally traced to my DIY auto bolt release. i didn't dremel it smooth enough, so it was staying up a little bit sometimes and catching the bolt. polished the inside of the reciever too though. many a fun evening with my dremel tool. i ordered a set of tech-sights for it. next up is a sweet stock and a .920" bull barrel fr
  11. would your slip on muzzle brake be NYS legal? you don't happen to sell forends gas tubes and handguards too do you? ah man. i'm in the middle of a 10/22 upgrade kick right now too. this crap is getting expensive.
  12. i'd rather not mess with the gas block if i don't have to. seems like your handguard retainer will be just fine. once i pound those pins out, how much force is needed to take the front sight off? i don't believe i can have a threaded muzzle here in NY. same with the bayo lug. seeing how my gun has a pistol grip and a detachable mag. i guess i could silver solder a brake on and i'd be ok?
  13. don't i have to knock off the gas block too then? i'm not that much of a glutton for punishment.
  14. Here is a tutorial on how to straiten a canted FSB. http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/fsbcantfix.htm Personally, I would not bother with an AK FSB, just straiten the existing one, and just get a Tritium front sight. http://www.sksman.com/acces/sights.php Dinzags parts are the way to go. I speak from experience. His new hand guard retainer is rock solid, and you can get a modified gas tube from him as well that will fit your Saiga. I found that the original cleaning rod that came with mine is much to long. You can order a regular AK cleaning rod from dozens of sources on the net.
  15. my front sight is canted as all hell. i'm thinking if i'm gonna be removing it, i may as well put a proper AK style sight on. what's a good one to buy? i can't have a bayonet lug here in NY or i become a terrorist. dinzag's handguard retainer is probably the way to go. i'd like to be able to mount a cleaning rod under the barrel. the front sight retains the rod right? dinzag sells gas tubes as well? the AK74 gas tube will work won't it? anything i'm missing here?
