  1. Was there today and Oshkosh FF has about 20 Korean steel AK mags and one plastic.
  2. M11/9 mag (now 6 32's and 1 15) .223 butstock cleaning rod Rem 7400 .30-06 4 rnd mag UTG AK QD side scope mount Rem 7400 .308 4 rnd mag (modifying to .30-06)
  3. The Appleton Fleet Farm seems to get around 6 total of both models in every week or so. I have the CAI conversion. I lucked out and got it on sale and the tax brought it exactly to the regular price. They also get about 8-9 vepr/AK variant rifles in at the same time. CAI Drago's have gone up from $850 to around $1050.
  4. And you wonder why the antichrist will bamboozle the whole world? You are looking at it! Too much knowlege and too little wisdom!
  5. No! Those prices actually seem reasonable considering you're in AK. Everything is more expensive due to shipping. I'm paying $9.45 per box of Federal 2 3/4" 1 1/8oz #2 steel, and $3.49 for a 5 round box of Federal 1 oz slugs. Federal 3" 00 buck is $6.59 for 5.
  6. I've been using the Layola Marsh as a range. It's DNR land and is open for hunting. It's a prarie chicken habitat. On the map, take HWY 73 past 39/51 and continue on CT D until you get to CT W. Follow W till you get to the big rock. There's dirt road that goes around the rock. When I found the place, it looked like all the locals use it as a range. .22LR and shotgun hulls and shot up cans were found. (do pack your brass and trash if you can find it) From the rock out about 300 yds is a berm of some sort that can be used as a backstop. From the road, it's 2.2 miles of nothing in front
  7. Here's the pics. I lightly stoned the faces, and it did smoothen out the action a little. It seems that most of the resistance is the extractor spring tension, but I'm not going to touch that! I didn't want to go totaly nuts on this, but a little more work may help things. Once my AGP order and stock arrive, I've got 35 old Remington slugs, and 150 old high brass loads to pound through it. That should get her purring! Extractor after stoning. Slot after stoning. Arkansas stones used on carrier and extractor.
  8. I want to eat here!!! http://www.rr.com/news/topic/article/rr/8459870/81732085/Gun_owners_get_a_discount_at_Va_pizza_shop
  9. Come to WI! We got lots of out of work machinists up here! We know how to read mics up here, as opposed to right to work states! Taxes might be a problem, but the reps have kicked the dems out!
  10. I found that my extractor seems to be what's hanging up when I ride the bolt. It seems like the extractor is not wanting to slide up the ramp preventing full battery. Below are pics of the extractor and extractor notch. I'm thinking of lightly stoning both out with a round and square Arkansas stick to remove most of the machining marks. Any thoughts?
  11. Methinks it's time to shoot the stupid fools! Then again...... Where da college girls at?
  12. Well thank yall for bendin over! Dad likes his military retirement and tri-care medical! Dad: Major with 41 1/2 years service (WWII to 1985).
  13. Once the bottom screw was adjusted the mount is solid. Just keep the screw tight. (recheck after a few mounts/dismounts) It's pretty much the same as the Russian mounts. The top rail is a V shape that will let you see the bead, but it is higher than the rear sight by about a 1-2 mm. So aim low if you try to use it. Saw a Russian scope with a very similar mount for $280 just before I found this mount. So I had something to compare.
  14. Picked up a UTG quick detach mount for the side rail scope mount. $58 at the gun show today. It also sports a second rail, so I think the green laser is going there. It slides on from the rear forward, then flip the latch and you're golden. 15. Looks bent to me too! And that paint job is as sloppy as the one I saw. Although the pepto puke pink actually works really well in the desert. Ask the Brits!
  16. Saw something similar at the gun show today. Saiga 20 with red painted internal dust cover and safety, with magwell and 2 clear 14 rnd mags with wood epoxied on. It had a polished bolt/carrier that looked like someone went nuts with a mototool, and also had a modded charging handle that was sloppily welded. Price $1175.
  17. Ours has 100 rnd bulk packs of Remington low brass for $22.something, and Federal at a little bit more. Rifle and pistol ammo is scarce, except for .17 HMR and .22 short/CB/mag.
  18. One thing to remember is that this panic ocurred during the off season for ammunition manufacturers. Most manufacturers reduce production after the hunting season rush, as there's not as much demand during the rest of the year. The panic hit the supply pipeline at it's lowest point, instead of at it's highest. Now if it had hit in August, the suppliers would have been in full balls to the wall production for hunting season, and would have continued producing until the panic was over. There would then be glut once things died down. So it was a worst case scenario. Store shelves were
  19. 10 boxes of Winchester/Olin military grade 00 buck @ $4.99. 500+ bulk pack of Remington golden bullet .22LR @ $17.99.
  20. Well....At least you have a new target! YES on the JBL PRO! 12 box Vertec line array + 6-8 subs on each side of the arena with a few racks of Crown amps per side, and about 200A 208V 3ph. That's the way I like to play! (and gettin deaf too!)
  21. I'll agree with the above, don't get wild with metal removal!!! Those parts were built that way for a reason! Take too much off and you could get a weapon that will either break, or break you. With my carrier and hammer face, I only stoned them down to remove the original machining marks/finish, and the scratch along the bottom. I may have done it the hard way using my 3/8 x 3/8 Arkansas stick and flat stone. In the pics, I could do a little more yet, as I haven't fully gone to the true bottom of the machine marks. But the action with this little amount of material removal was noticea
  22. Just be careful on that Russian NVS! Some Russian NV items can put out some serious X-rays from the HV and vacuum in the tube! I've made some X-rays with just a light bulb and a Tesla coil. Here's one of my coils. http://i1336.photobucket.com/albums/o660/Dewit2it/Tesla%20Coils/DEW6_zps3526ed54.jpg
