Thanks Mancat, you confirmed my suspicion.

Ok monty. Seems ventilatoin would lessen the amount of blowback into the chamber.

Monty I was wondering if its not vented for a reason. My romainian and yugo ak's are vented. jdub if you have a standard ak the gas block will have small holes around the flange where the tube goes on.

Has anyone ventilated the gas block? Most ak's have this and it seems it would run cleaner. Any thoughts?
