  1. Isn't the puck stopped by the oprod when it reaches it's furthest most position in recoil preventing the puck from hitting the rear site block? All recoil forces are therefor directed to the rear trunnion as the BCG reaches it's most rearward position. A simple experiment of pulling the BCG back to its furthest position and then measuring where the tip of the oprod is located would certainly clarify whether or not the puck can physically move back far enough. I would also think you would be able to hear the puck hitting the rear site block even over the report of the shotgun. I guess
  2. I keep two factory 5 rounders loaded with 00 in the safe for home defense. I purchased 10 12-round SGMs when I first bought by V12 and have used 5 and the other 5 are still wrapped up. Of those 5 all have worked flawlessly. The only reason I don't use them for home defense is that they are too long to keep conveniently stored and accessible in the gun safe. Purchase with confidence. Once the Russian 8-rounders and 10-rounders come down to a reasonable price, I will probably buy a few of those. By far the V12 is my favorite weapon to shoot. The SGMs have fed all types of ammo flawlessly.
  3. SGM is a U.S. company making VEPR 12 magazines in 10 round and 12 round configurations for under $50.00 each. Just search online. I have ten 12 rounders and they work just fine.
  4. I got to the range this weekend and replaced the front sight post with a bright orange front sight post. I can see the top of the post just above the rail and was able to adjust and shoot accurately. I threw on a foregrip and the jack screws held the quad rail tight through 100 rounds of #8, 2 3/4" target load. I did have to cinch the jack screws up about a quarter turn once I got back home and checked them. A little loctite will remedy that as I don't really need to take the bottom quads off as the barrel is accessible for cleaning/dusting. All-in-all I am very happy with the quad rail a
  5. It didn't block the front sight or sight picture, for me it blocked the front sight post. I zeroed in with the sight post set pretty low and the top rail blocked the post requiring me to raise the post until I can see it. I have not been to the range to re-zero so I don't know what effect this will have for me. I usually take a pretty high cheek weld so the front sight post has been set low to adjust and allow me to bring the barrel down when shooting. Not a complaint but an observation for me as the top rail sits higher than the factory rail cover.
  6. Thanks Cameron for setting us straight on the jack screws and for making this product to begin with. It does look awesome and now that I understand the jack screws and have a tight fit I am uber pleased with everything and highly recommend the Chaos VEPR 12 Quad Rail. Now let's talk about a purpose built drum magazine for the VEPR 12..........
  7. Agreed, instructions would have been nice. I had to raise my front sight in order to see it over the top of quad rail but that may be an issue of cheek weld particular to me.
  8. I used mountain man's insight and wisdom and tightened those set screws but I am going to the electrical tape in place just cuz I'm too lazy to take it off and I want that quad to stay tight as my intention is to mount a forward grip to help take some recoil away from my shoulder and move my right arm down as I am a left handed shooter.
  9. Some confirmation from Chaos regarding whether or not those are set screws on the bottom of the rail would be nice. There were no instructions and it didn't occur to me that those may be set screws. Still I would worry about scratching given the heavy recoil of the weapon platform and all.
  10. I guess I got Russian precision engineering to thank for the loose fit of my rails. I would be interested to find out if anyone else had loose fitting rails.
  11. I got my Chaos VEPR12 Quad Rail today and here are my first impressions. The quality of the machining is awesome and they look great once they are installed properly. I am a bit disappointed that the bottom rail section is not quite long enough to provide a tight fit between the receiver and the front sliding sling swivel that the gas tube locks in. The whole unit will wiggle and slide about 1/8". I fixed this by wrapping the ends of the lower quad in black electrical tape which fills the space and provides filler to securely lock the bottom quad in. The top quad goes over the gas tube a
  12. For the price of one of these frankensteined Molot 10 rounders I can buy 3 SGM 12 rounders. I have ten of the SGM 12 round mags and have yet to have a problem with any of them. After seeing that pic of a Molot 10 rounder there is no way that thing is worth $119.00.
  13. I just placed my order for vepr12 quad rail at Chaos website! They're here!
