OP, if you can't locate the original bolt that came with the rifle, (serial numbers match) you'll have to get the rifle headspaced. Even if you find another Saiga bolt, you'll *still* have to get the rifle headspaced.

Yeah, that sucks. How much that sucks cannot possibly be overstated... My Romy kitbuild rifle developed an identical problem and I changed out all manner of springs, and even installed a high zoot Red Star trigger kit before I discovered that the rear end of the firing pin had been peened over like that. When I inspected my brother's rifle ("sister" build of the same year Romy kit on same brand receiver) I found that it was well on its way to having the same problem, although it was not yet misfiring. We were able to fix both rifles simply by installing new surplus Polish firing pins.

I believe it's nearly identical to a Bulgy AK-74 bolt carrier.

The barrel is not worn out, I just want a spare.

Nothing specific yet. The fab shop hasn't quoted me a price yet; but based on their previous work, I'm guessing ~$50.00 for a pin, collar and spring assembly.

The bolt in a Bulgy AK-74 will work. Again, though, the slamfire issue rears its head.

Pins are turned, milled, and at the heat treating shop now. God willing and the creek don't rise, I should have them in time for Christmas! I'll letcha know.

Yes, I have one. It's in a working Vepr .308 I want to have a replacement barrel made, but don't know which profile to use.

The fab shop is loading the program into their CNC. Should be soon.

Is the Vepr .308 barrel trunnion 22 or 23mm at the barrel journal? I figure this is a long shot. Who would take apart a Vepr to find out? Cerephim

If someone has Saigas in both .308 and .223, please post images of the firing pins laid side by side.

The Saiga replacement pins (in Stainless Steel hardened to C40) will start being made after Labor Day; at least that's what the fabricator says. I have no idea on how much they're gonna cost me.

I'm having them made specifically for the S308 and S223. I just sent out the schematics today. I'm still in the process of spec'ing the springs and collars.

I'm having some made. Give me a couple months to work with the fabricator. I hope to offer pin/spring/collar combo.
