  1. Go with the NATO. I am shorter than you, and even then my Warsaw + recoil pad is just a tiny bit cramped for me. I strongly recommend the SAW grip. I love it. I have heard good things about some of the Ergo grips, maybe check those out. If you are not too set on the synthetic set, consider a really nice set of wood furniture. BattleRifleG3 makes some high-quality stuff, and it is US-made and 922r compliant parts. Pick from basic replacement wood furniture, thumbole stocks, AK-style furniture, or even customize a set down to the last detail, for a truly unique rifle (or shotgun, in you
  2. Wow, awesome Krink. It really is unique, nice score. I gotta get one of those... one of these days...
  3. Cool. Now get out there and give us a range report!
  4. Good choice! The internal block is definitely cleaner looking, probably a bit sturdier too. Just cut the dang tang, mang!
  5. Gun shows are your best friend... not only can you pick up and feel the actual firearm you want, but once you do pick it out, most of time they arrange the transfer for you. All you need to do is call the place and pick it up when it has arrived (if there is a wait period). If you do not have a wait period ("cool-off" they call it), go in, pick the gun, pay the money, walk out with said gun 20 minutes later. Consider driving to the next county over if they have better gun laws such as no waiting period. Don't forget to check local ads. If you can find a Face-to-Face for sale ad, most

    "SHTF" = WTF

    Thanks John, That is exactly what I wanted to hear. Since you are familiar with Florida, is there anything you would recommend/not recommend, in addition to what you have already stated, to a Floridian in that general area? St. Petersburg/Tampa Bay specifically. I mean, considering being on a penninsula, connected to yet another penninsula (FL itself). Some kind of floating vessel, boat, canoe, etc? Fishing gear? Or possibly something else I could not even imagine. Thanks again for the great post/collaboration!
  7. You can always cut-down the 20" barrel in the future, to whatever you like; 18-inch, 16-inch or even shorter.

    "SHTF" = WTF

    JWarren, I would love to know what specific things you have learned from the Katrina experience, and I'm sure many others here would like to know about it as well. When did things start getting crazy? What types of things were you able to stock up on at the last minute? What did you manage to survive on during those several weeks? I'm just full of questions as I'd really like to learn from your experiences... So what did a typical day consist of? Would you mind being specific about any self-defense situations that arose? What would you have done (and hopefully are doing) diff
  9. Actually, I think it was Dinzag that takes two regular mags, cuts them up and puts them back together, and ends up with one 'big' mag and one little (1-2 round) mag. He may have some laying around now, so send him a message.
  10. +1 on the looks. I'll head out to the Suncoast gunshow in Clearwater on the weekend of 24-25th. Hopefully there will be a few there, I'll handle it some, and report back on the prices of it and other AKs. Now all we need is this gun in 12ga. Then say hello to cheaper S-12s...
  11. I will take it for 175 shipped if you don't get any FTF offers.

    SHTF Ammo

    I would rely on: - Mossberg 590 (complete with bayo), with a few boxes of 00, #6 shot (for the birds ), and slugs. - 7.62x39 Saiga, several mags and a half-case of ammo. - Several knives, including folding, survival, bayonet, etc. - some non-perishable edible basics - various toiletries, tools and clothing - fishing/hunting necessities - and a big 'ol boat of a sedan, keeps on going and going. EAA Witness in 45 ACP and/or a CZ-75 are on the wishlist... I would not wait at the house, the nieghborhood is bad enough without rioting/looting. I'd make a run for it, pick up a
  13. Wow. Not a bad idea, but be careful with putting that drum on your 'sporting' rifle. Do you mean you ship the parts required to build it, and not the item already built? Hmm, maybe 60-70 bucks? Depends on the amount of work needed.
  14. Damn! Guess where I'm going next time I need a short vacation...
  15. If you are in NC, just keep your eyes open next time you go into a back-alley pawn shop.
  16. Just got my M7 bayonet (sharpened, of course) attached to the 590... looks odd, but it will get the job done. I would prefer the M9, but too much $$$. I actually got this M7 one locally.
  17. Eh, I'm too tired. Seriously, first thing in the morn, I'll send out some emails, maybe a phone call or two.
  18. Could you clarify if you have used these personally? How do they hold up to continued and rapid movement? Decent STHF item? If so, I'll take one in the 12ga flavor... Just PM me the payment info.
  19. The actual link should not have the '' ... '' in it. That is the shortened/abbreviated address link, we need the whole thing.
  20. My handguard and gas tube package had a total shipping cost of 4.50 UK pounds = $8.82 US Quite a bargain.
