  1. Haha! Just got my first look at it. Already has the cut. This will be the easiest conversion ever. The only thing to do beforehand is send some rounds down range, make sure everything's alright, then it's off to the garage with it.
  2. I would, but I'd rather just use a regular PG nut. It's not picky on what length bolts are used, and I feel it'd be more secure.
  3. Thanks Gary. That's actually the same diagram I used on the 12, but I guess the location isn't any different after all?
  4. Well, I haven't actually got the rifle yet. Should be here today. I'm just trying to get together information in case I need to for when I get ready to convert it. I will probably hold off on the conversion for just a little bit in case anything malfunctions due to factory error and it needs returned, but again, just gathering information. My last .308 did not have the grip hole cut, but I believe it was test fired back in 07, so who knows, they might have started cutting them since then?
  5. Was wondering if anybody has a source for specific dimensions on where the pistol grip nut hole is supposed to be located on the .308? I know often times you guys say that "there's plenty of info on conversions...etc.", but not necessarily true (from what I've found) on the .308 platform. At most, I've only ever located perhaps 2 .308 specific conversion videos, and the only one I remember, the guy used a DIY trigger guard with a built in PG nut. I've even tried searching these forums for conversion info specific to the .308, and not too much turns up. Anyways, if anybody has any information,
  6. I suppose it's a possibility, but I've been avoiding NFA firearms considering the hassle involved (before and after obtaining). I suppose I am prolonging the inevitable, though.... Been searching tri/quad rails, and I don't think they'd drop in a .308 without modification due to barrel thickness. Having an AK forend isn't a deal killer, it's just something that I will change one way or another eventually. Thing is, I've got an RRA LAR-15 (carbine length), a Wasr-10/63, and a Saiga 12, to name a few, and of those 3, the Saiga 12 has the longest forend. Guess I'm looking for something that "fits
  7. I wouldn't bet on it. I loved my old Saiga .308 hanguard for whatever reason. Just felt comfortable to me, whereas I think the AK handguard (especially for a .22") is too small.
  8. Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my questions, Legion. I'm going to weigh my options and make a choice within the next day or two most likely. Thanks again! ~Forsaken
  9. I also just read somewhere the Legion rifles have thicker barrels. Can anyone confirm this? I apologize for the flood of questions. Been waiting for months to come into some money, and I think I may just be able to begin my project now.
  10. Thanks for the fast response. I forgot to add 2 things to my original post. 1) I've owned a .22" previously (was afraid at the time ((years ago)) to convert it to pistol grip, and ended up doing the external pistol grip gimmick, sold it, and now regret having sold it), and 2) I have browsed Legion's website before, and the prices are much better then I see elsewhere, but I'm looking for one that actually has the regular factory forend. Why does Legion have different forends than all other Saiga rifles? If they're from the factory this way, was anything else changed? (aside from the gas tube ob
  11. Anybody got any leads on where I could find a 22" barrel Saiga .308 for sale not including Gunbroker, Armslist, GunsAmerica, etc.? I'm looking for a completely factory setup with the polymer furniture, but everything I'm finding is sold out or are just asking too much. I'm not entirely certain what the Saiga rifles are running nowadays, but I think $1,000.00 unconverted is a bit outrageous.... Also, I may settle for the 16" depending on which I can get my hands on (and I know it's been discussed before), but I'm trying to build a DMR style rifle, and I'm just not sure if the 16 will "go th
  12. Thanks for the replies everyone. Well, as of right now, I've got both. I'm using the factory guard, and its not at all smooth. It's worked being a trigger guard, but it really takes away from the gun's clean appearance. You see, when it was converted, my brother drilled the crooked hole and bent the guard. My brother is somewhat impatient. He media blasted his h&r with coal slag because it was rusting...... needless to say, some of his "fine" touches have been transferred off onto my saiga.. I'm in need of a new guard that will reach as close to the magazine release as possible (hope
  13. Hello, first post, so forgive me if it's been asked before (didn't get much from searching). I actually have 2 questions regarding this particular trigger guard. 1) What the thickness of the trigger guard is (also if anyone could, the length from the forward-most mounting screw ((closest the magazine release)) to the end of the guard closest the release), and 2) if I were to cut from the red line back in the photo removing the grip nut (already have a PG nut hole cut in receiver) would I have any mounting issues and would I be able to use any standard AK grip? I have a hogue as of right now.
