Joined the forum back during December 2006. Haven't visited in a very long time.... been pursuing other interests and such. Once in a blue moon I pop back in though. This forum has always been a wonderful collaborative source of information; folks always spoke their minds freely (sometimes, too much so?). A high-end fixed blade would likely be a nice gift.... one that's designed for harsh climates and salt water of course. You should not concern yourself with considering mirrors or knee pads or any of that kind of stuff. Regardless of the firearm platform (i.e., AK, AR, etc.), it's my understanding that the B.E. Meyers series of flash hiders (not compensators, brakes, whatever other types or variants one would care to label a muzzle device as) are one of the most effective, period. (NOTE: I did not say "the best ever" or "thee most effective," etc.) Yet you do not have them listed?!?! I think you need to do a much more thorough job with your research.

Took the rifle out to the firing range yesterday for her baptismal shooting session; breaking in the rifle's barrel and sighting in the Vortex scope. Well... the session was less than terrific. The rifle functioned wonderfully, except for the JP Enterprise silent captured buffer spring. I was firing Russian 7n6 ammo. Apparently, the OEM spring is just a wee-bit too stout for this particular rifle configuration. The bolt carrier would fail to catch/strip-off every third to fourth round from the magazine, and more than half of the time the bolt did not lock back on the magazine after the last ro
