Do I need the retaining spring and button for gas plug. Seems with aftermarket plugs I don't use it anyway so after drilling my port holes out 3/32" I'm reinstalling just wanted some insight if I can just leave it off? Being I lost the spring it would save a trip to the hardware store. Thanks for any info.

Thanks for the many options you guys provided i do appreciate that. I know to alot of you experienced saiga guys this was a no brainer but thanks again for the info. Now if i can only figure out how to delete this Topic.

Ive seen all the videos on converting the saiga 12 but my only question is after drilling out the rivets upon reassembling what do you replace them with do you use a new rivet or ?

All i can say im sure glad i found this thread. I was really liking his work but a year wait lol thats insane!
