Last time (pre-kids) I was thinking about picking up a semiautomatic rifle I was looking at the Saiga 223 and they were going for under $300. I understand they are a lot more expensive now. How much of that is because of the current hoarding craze and how much is because more people are waking up to how good they are? Are they expected to come down in the next year or so? I'm thinking about getting either a Saiga 223 or an M&P 15. I'd probably go with the cheapest but if the prices were close I'd go with the Saiga.
