  1. I'm hoping to pick up a Saiga at a gun show this weekend. Can the trigger be improved & still be legal, & if not, could anyone tell. I would like to shoot it a while before I convert it. Also, does the bolt stay open on the last shot of any Saiga's? I wanted to get a .223, but now I want the 7.62x39 also.
  2. Thanks Vjor. I don't own a Saiga but I'm going to a local gun show in Hernando county this weekend and hope to pick one up.
  3. Hey inparidel, Where in Florida do you guys shoot? I'm in west central Fl.
  4. 239.96 at Stanleys Pro Shop. http://www.stanleysproshop.com/Rifles-c85-p85.html?
  5. Which one? 7.62 or 223. 7.62 or 223. 7.62 or 223. You guys are right. I'll get a SKS 7.62x39 & a Saiga .223 or maybe 2 Saigas & cover all the bases. I already own several handguns in 9mm, 45,38 & 357mag. Can I improve the Saiga trigger & still be legal?
  6. vjor; ...........I agree. That's why I'm now thinking of getting both or the Saiga .223 & a SKS 7.62x39. Thanks
  7. Try again. Why not just cut out the middleman and read for yourself? Just do a search for 922r and you shall find what you seek. Just did the search. I didn't think the Hi Caps were legal, but others were saying I'm wrong. Thanks.
  8. I posted similiar to this in the general section, but I think I might have more luck here. I'm new to the Saiga Forum & Saiga rifles. Fired a 7.62x39 Saiga yesterday & it shot great. I'm thinking of the .223 cal. for my SHTF rifle. I know it may not be the best defensive caliber, but it does allow for faster follow up shots. It would be easier on the 2 females in our home. Is the .223 as reliable in this rifle as other rounds available? Does the Saiga handle most .223 & 5.56 ammo? Are spare mags available & at what price? I know I can buy on line, but I'll try a local gun show
  9. Been thinking of getting a Saiga for a while. Went to the range and tried a 7.62x39. Nice to shoot. Even though this will be my SHTF rifle I'm considering the .223 also. Faster repeat shots. It would be easier for the females in my house to shoot. Cheaper ammo. Are the .223's as reliable as the 7.62x39? Will it handle all .223 & 5.56 ammo? Are spare mags available? Any opinions would be appreciated since my only experience is with handguns.
  10. Thanks for the quick & useful reply. The only reason I mentioned Cert. dates, I thought I read somewhere that the more recent took the 30rd mags.
  11. Hi. I'm another annoying newbie. I own several handguns, but have no experience with military style rifles. I would like to buy a reliable and inexpensive HI Cap rifle for my arsenal in case the s..t hits the fan in this country. The Saiga 7.62x39 seems to fit the bill. I've done some research, but it's still confusing. Besides 16 or 20" barrels, are all the stock Russian Saiga's the same? Are the original stocks comfortable to shoot? Do they have to be upgraded to perform better? And what upgrades do you recommend? Aesthetics are not important to me at this time, but performance is
