  1. Dual manual bolt hold opens seems a little silly, but I wanted to hold the bolt back in a positon behind the rear of the rounds, and I think notching a spare AK selector was easier and cheaper than buying a new saiga BHO and modifying that.
  2. If you want to keep them dry and extremely thoroughly retained, you can squeeze 25rd surefires into the very cheap but decent quality milsurp East German "Rain Pattern" AK 4x mag pouches. CSSpec 20rd mags fit in far more easily, though. Made for x39 30rd mags, but they're rectangular pockets made for the very nonrectangular curvy x39 30rd mags, so they wind up suitably sized for battle rifle mags.
  3. I did crazier. I used the dovetail-picatinny adapters included with a terrible ncstar red dot to attach a marlin 60 on an AK side rail to picatinny top rail converter mount. It had a side mount that I put a slightly less terrible red dot on, since you can't quite get an eye between the stocks. I was planning to try firing the marlin in this configuration, but figured if I fired the Saiga, the Marlin would fall off and get damaged. I wound up disassembling this insanity before the sun rose, though.
