  1. Follow Fuller's lead. You can safely work over the parts by hand with 1000 + grit sand paper, impossible to harm the parts with that method. It's slow as Hell, but if you're nervous about screwing something up that's how I'd do it. You can save some time using a dremel on the worse of the casting lines and lumps, but 1000 grit at the end to smooth it out is where you're heading.
  2. Just got my Magpul MOE Ak stock, sling receptacle, and paraclip adapter installed so I could get my two point sling mounted back up. Now, I just need to do a little sewing and get the sling shortened up a little bit so it rides where I want it at the shortest setting. Makes it easy to set and forget, and I can let it out pretty quickly for single point use.
  3. Put the MOE stock on Wednesday, going to the range tomorrow morning to run it through it's paces.
  4. Probably done with mods. Added an Ultimak and TRS-25, and Magpul MOE stock with a 1/2" cheek riser.
  5. While I agree he'd certainly like to, I don't believe he can at this stage. He's setting the stage for a later radical to complete his work. That said, if it ever comes to a house by house gun grab, god speed gentlemen and I'll see you on the other side.
  6. I won't even entertain an argument that brings up the murder/gun violence rates in this country. I don't have to. I'm not required to justify my right to bear arms, that right is God given and protected under the US Constitution. Every time some liberal starts tossing around statistics, I drag them like a puppy that shit on my carpet back to the 2nd Amendment and tell them to read it slowly and out loud till they get it through their thick skulls. Bear arms, shall not be infringed, get over it.
  7. Her words echo mine. If you don't want to carry, don't. I want to. Leave me the Hell alone. My rights are not subject to your feelings and hysteria surrounding firearms.
  8. A case of ammo, the gift that keeps on giving. Next month, I'm putting AK stuff on hold to get my 308 bolt action setup and reloading components for match ammo. Then, probably back to hoarding ammo.
  9. Doesn't matter, only difference I'm aware of is a few extra notches. I'm not shooting 300+ with a Saiga. I have a 308 bolt action for that.
  10. dear God no, I've gained some weight since retiring 22 years ago but that's not even me today I use to look like a Greek God, Now I look like a god damn Greek. Most of us pack on some pounds when we get out. I always chuckle when I hear someone start talking shit saying "You don't look like you were in the military." Back then, I was 17-23, 5'11" 190 pounds. Nowadays, I'm 32, 230 pounds, still with the close cut hair but grown a beard. I'm not in the same shape I was when I was in the military, but still a die hard patriot. I will be till the day I die. People lose sight o
  11. Being a vet, stolen valor just pisses me off. Especially in light of the EXTREMELY small portion of my generation that served, and how fiercely patriotic I am, I have incredible disdain for people that lacked the courage to serve but want the respect for having done so. I'm fortunate to have never encountered an individual as such, but can't imagine it ending well. That's just me. It's a point of pride that I served, and I have nothing but respect and admiration for men and women that served, but if you haven't laced up those boots and wrote that blank check you don't deserve to call yo
  12. Krebs peep sight tightened my shot groups very noticeably. Not cheap, but just as solid as the original.
  13. Looks nice! What sling are you using BTW? Ultimate Arms Gear multi point. Can convert between single point and a two point. 6" and 2" rails added, Magpul AFG2 installed, robbed the Surefire off my 1911 till I get a Streamlight for this rifle. I like it. The AFG breaks up the weird curve of the HG nicely. Random question, but do you happen to know how much your phoenix tech stock weighs? Thanks! It's an easy mod, and there is a big chunk of metal right there so you even shave a hair of weight. No idea the weight. Purely subjective, no more than the factor

  15. In this picture, you can see the single point mount and just barely see the screw peaking out from under the pistol grip. Not visible when in use. The original mount just clamps around the PG bushing/nut and is secured by tension from the PG. I had to open up the whole front of the hole for the PG nut to wrap around the back of the CSS trigger guard, hence the screw to keep it back backing off under hard use.
  16. Thanks! I've got grip tape on my 1911's and i like the way it feels. Didn't think about that for this, but that probably wouldn't be a bad idea. Good job on the cutouts! Good advice going on here. With my next attempt I will indeed use a smaller solder tip to achieve a more uniform and sandpaper like texture. To be honest this is the first time I have stippled anything, and all I had was an old worn out tip that I didn't mind getting plastic all over. Good learning experience either way. In the picture I don't have my flashlight mounted, but it is usually sporting a streamlight poly

In the picture I don't have my flashlight mounted, but it is usually sporting a streamlight polytac in 1" rings on the forward rail. I thought about swapping one of the direct mount M lok scout mounts for my light to save some weight. Bolt it
  18. I'm heading some of the same direction you are on my x39. Have a 6" and 2" section of rail coming, a Magpul AFG2 will go on, and for the time being I'll have the option to hot swap my Surefire X200 from my 1911 to my AK till I get a Streamlight or similar with some decent output and range. I agree on the stippling, either the whole thing or none. And personally I would've done it with a smaller appliance so it's more sandpaper and less pebbly in texture. That said, I agree on outfitting the factory handguard. It's a good, lightweight piece. I just needs some work to suit to the
  19. BLM, just add another government agency to the list that needs to be disbanded.
  20. This country will burn if that psychotic cunt ends up in the Oval Office. If she even looks like she has a credible shot at winning, go ahead and start burying your guns and ammo.
  21. I say we overhaul retirement benefits for the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches first. Work two terms, retirement for life at over 100K a year. Nonsense.
  22. Am I the only one wondering why we're hearing about this, given this administration's proclivity for covering up government corruption and incompetence???
  23. Only polishing I did (with 1500 grit sandpaper) was the bottom of the bolt where it runs the hammer, and interface between the single hook trigger and trigger. Can smooth the action, some people report reduction in felt recoil. Let me find a link. http://www.dinzagarms.com/downloads/polishing_saiga-12.pdf Page 3.
  24. Single point on the way. Also found a nice steel single point sling adapter for AK's that fits under the pistol grip. Will report back how I like it, but my primary concern is weapon retention and free range of motion. Two point slings have never clicked with how I move with a weapon, just personal preference.
