  1. “If you love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”― Samuel Adams That quote from Samuel Adams always makes me feel like little punk. We are not deserving of the liberty we enjoy now, it is truly inherited . Many of us have served our country in the military but what kind of a country is left these days. One that doesn'
  2. If this were a real story, I think it would be all over the Drudge report and other conservative news outlets. I don't doubt that they would like to do this but anything they do on an international level has to be ratified. If not ratified, it can not be enforced. I welcome UN control as I am getting old and want to fight now before I get too tired to shoot move and communicate. either wise beyond your years or you've been around the block! Maybe a little from column A and column B. Don't get me wrong, I think it's important to keep an eye on idle politicians (aren't they all) and
  3. A. Sovereign nations are never bound by a treaty except once accepted and ratified, and only then to the extent they allow it. The UN has no teeth to enforce the statute, and depend on the good faith of the host countries to enact and enforce them. That's how treaties work. Our country has specific mechanisms in place (ratification by the Senate IIRC) that prevent a President from accepting a treaty considered to be unfavorable by the majority. Checks and balances. B. Our Constitution, baring a Constitutional Convention/Convention of the States to strike it down, is bound by the 2nd
  4. I won't hold my breath, but I'd love to see the BATFE gone.
  5. I was going to open up my AK the other day to do a little detail polishing on the FCG to knock off rough edges, and was pretty surprised by what I found. My Tapco G2 had VERY smooth surfaces where the hammer and FCG interface, required no work whatsoever. Was just wondering if everyone else found that to be the case, or if I just got lucky. I'd always wondered, and had others ask, why my trigger was so much smoother than other AK's, and I guess no I have my answer.
  6. A. Already had the talk with my neighbor (that spends a lot of time with us) and his 13 year old. Told them I have guns, don't mind taking them out for a range day, but that I don't want the whole town knowing what I have. B. I NEVER have all the guns locked up in the safe when I'm home. That safe exists to keep guns secured when I'm not there. When I'm home, I've got enough arms and loaded ammo to deal with most home invasion situations. If twelve guys kick in my door with full auto, I'll be outgunned, but short of that they're going to have a really exciting evening.
  7. This is why you keep plenty of guns OUT of the gun safe within quick reach.
  8. Little more work. Vented the factory handguard, painted all the furniture OD Green.
  9. Done with the rough work. Probably pull it and get on it with a flat file tomorrow to straighten and smooth things out but I think it looks decent.
  10. And an NAAWP, and affirmative action to encourage the hiring of white people, and anti discrimination laws applied to whites, ect, ect. But that's none of my business.
  11. I hate to cast blame towards the user/installer, but I worked as a mechanic for quite a number of years and there's a little bit of art and science to using taps. They are VERY easy to break or screw up if you don't have a gentle touch. Even while my friend that was lending me a hand kept telling me I didn't have to go as slow as I did, I just kept a slow methodical pace and didn't have any issues. In either case, highly recommend a bullet guide and opening up the mag catch. The ability to use AK mags rather than the proprietary Saiga mags (typically for 3X the price per mag) is a big m
  12. This will be my next mod soon. Brought my x39 to the range this past weekend, burned my 75 round drum and two 30 round mags and that handguard was not comfortable to hold. Gun wasn't rapid fired either, all aimed shots couple seconds between, but over 130 rounds through the barrel and it's obvious it needs some vents.
  13. The CSS kit, at least the one I got, included a retainer plate that works just fine. The wire crooks are a carryover from the full auto guns as in that case the retainer plate interferes with some internal part (the disconnector and it's pin I believe). The retainer plate works great. Also, the CSS Billet trigger guard like theone I got in my kit was well worth a few extra bucks, very beefy and nicely finished. As I mentioned, be very careful when tapping for the bullet guide, I went in about a quarter turn at a time then backed out and blew out with shop air to get chips out. Could proba
  14. Notching/filing the bullet guide in the Saiga mags is only necessary if you have a round trunion/ My 7.62 has a flat trunion, and my stock Saiga mags didn't interfere with it. Also note if you want to use AK mags in your Saiga, plan to file on the mag catch a bit or replace the magazine catch with an AK one, the locking lug on the Saiga mags is thinner than traditional AK mags. Can be accomplished with some careful dremel work or a flat file (just takes longer.)
  15. If it's a Romy/chinese design drum, Youtube is your friend. Plenty of vids showing the process. After you get the first three rounds in the turret and spin the loader back to the starting position, pretty damned simple from there.
  16. He explicitly showed the prior art he was working from. Plus there are about a dozen other similar ideas on youtube. I don't think patents are going to happen. Still a good idea if you load a lot of mags, or have arthritis or something. Arthritis isn't an issue, I just like to tinker. Besides, when I talked to several people in the AK community that commented Maglula didn't make an AK benchloader, I took it as a challenge. Now that I pieced this together as low tech as it is, I'm wondering what's holding a company back....
  17. Mag catch is probably sized for AK mags, not Saiga compatible mags. AK mags have a substantially thicker lug.
  18. If there's interest in reproducing it I'll share rough dimensions. Part of the issue is variance in magazines. This is made for Magpul Pmags, but slight differences in dimensions limit the ability to make a truly universal one. Hence the Bondo. If you have a jigsaw and a router, some 1/2" plywood and 3/4" wood (I used MDF), and some wood glue and Bondo, this took a coupl hours to piece together.
  19. After looking at Maglula's AR benchloaders and lusting over them, I came to the conclusion I neither want to spend that much on one nor have much faith in them embracing our market. So, yesterday, I decided to see what a redneck in a wood shop could manage. Inspiration. First attempt didn't work, the radius was too tight causing the rounds to bind. Would only load 15 rounds at a time. So, onto version 2. This loader is substantially larger, but the radius of the loading ramp is much shallower. This leads to the initial round or to going into the mag butt first, but t
  20. Been boying with the idea of "windowing" my AK Pmags. Wish Magpul would quit screwing around and make "maglevel" models of their AK mags. But, nothing me and my dremel can't fix.
  21. You may have stated, but is the brake soldered on or threaded?
  22. Always one private can't keep his dick skinners off the noise button. Only weapon faux pas I had (muzzle swept a DI's feet, never did that again, but shit I was a 17 year old stupid private) he whipped off my battle buddy's kevlar, and straight knocked me right over the top of the head with it. Learned my lesson REAL quick.
  23. I worked 55 hours a week, paid my way through college one semester at a time, graduated debt free. It can be done if you just bust your ass. Anyone that says it can't is being disingeuous. If this goes through, am I going to get 2 years of tuition refunded to me? This is just another snatch and grab operation to redistribute wealth.
