  1. I mounted a quad on my 12ga Fury 1 that is very similar. It was no difficulty. I haven't looked in 18m, but we might have removed a retaining piece from around the barrel when we removed the factory plastic. It has a small boss into which the retaining screw threads. IF you take it off soon, measure the barrel diameter near the breech. I'm interested in some upgrades to a .410 I have not yet found.
  2. Oh, I might become a devotee of the AR chassis again. Well done Chaos!
  3. Academy Sports (if you have access to one) has 3" .410 in #4 shot WInchester Super-X. They state velocity is 1100fps, and using high brass. Price is $14.99, or roughly 60 cents/round. 12 gauge Olin/Winchester 00 is about $1/round at the same store. They also carry the Remington .410 Slugger at $5/box of 5. The MV on those is a blistering 1830fps. Sounds like charchooter has real-world test results. I'm looking for a Saiga .410 now!
  4. Hey thanks Jug- In my eagerness to rat them out, I missed the reporting pointer. Please delete thread and I'll look over tall teh landscape.
  5. And Remington now in Chapter 11 or other protection for bankruptcy?
  6. I see WAY below I should have posted this to Other AK Shotguns. My apologies for being clumsy. ADMINS/MODS I understand if this gets commented upon/moved. Thanks-

  8. Many online retailers carry that brand and probably spare parts. The MTU002 is on page 40 of the current catalog. But Ace Hardware or anyplace with good high-grade fasteners is probably your easiest step.
  9. I've had time to reflect on good advice I found here. The Fury 1 upgrade is essentially in maintenance mode now, and is shown in the pic with a Bulgarian AK-74 (No-Dak Spud) for reference and size comparison. It weighs about 9.5 pounds by my guess. I should go weigh it, but I was already used to carrying an M-60 back in the day. I've tried many loads and it is rock solid with all the slug or buck I can find moving faster than 1250 fps. I did adjust the set on the TAC-47 a bit for more consistent performance with a magazine of mixed manufacturer's ammunition. That was about 1/2 turn in (ri
  10. Good to hear that you are undergoing a change in perspective. Take care of yourself and family first.
  11. Great looking work with evident attention to detail-
  12. I've since installed a TAC-47 autoplug (not seen in pic). I'll have a report hopefully this weekend. Initial snapshots (2 rounds of #8) were successful. I've not polished the internals yet, either. I'm hoping for that "Straight from China" reliability without resorting to smoothing. However, given the work done to Saigas and VEPRs, I won't find it odd if we wind up polishing some of the rails, the BC, and bolt.
  13. My gunsmith replaced the detent that locks the gas plug/regulator into position with one having a slightly larger head. That was large enough to engage the locking slots/nicks in the head of the plug. VOILA! I'll see if I can make a decent closeup pic.
  14. Lou- I'm not sure about cutting the barrel. The entire thing is actually 1" shorter than my 18" barreled Remington 1100. FOr the moment, the length is mostly an optical problem, and not a handling/pointability problem. For that I have a nice Serbu SS. Yours looks smashing! Latest update Done for now. TAC-47 autoplug installed. Some minor work to make it lock into the gas block. This is the F1 Catamount on which we've tinkered for several months. 15. Bulgarian donor. NDS receiver. 922r goodies. Love to shoot it: it is surprisingly precise. Find the difference:
  16. Sometimes its the physics of light, and how we see. It also draws attention to the target, which is good for older pairs of eyes. It is more robust than most of the small holograms and microdots, so many of us who grew up on the ACO version of the Comp just like its feel and fit.
  17. I'll take it, for the F1 experiment. I live in Dallas GA (CONUS). PM me your PayPal data and I'll gift it.
  18. I opine the charging handle is not elegant. More 'experimentation'. I'm a southpaw with a long arm, so I like the notion of sweeping the top of the dustcover.
  19. It should shoot #8 shot of the same energy or higher equally well. The piston and carrier know nothing of the size of lead granules going down the bore. All they feel is pressure/time. The same pressure impulse necessary to move 1.125 oz of big pellets to 1200 FPS is required to move 1.125 oz of small pellets, or a single 1.125 oz slug. For that matter, the powder and primer have the same interaction with all of the above too, because in between is a smooth plastic gas seal. This is why you need to get that mythological type of folklore about "high brass" and shot size out of your head.
