  1. Just to back what sickness said; these shotguns will expose weak links. I took this combo, as pictured above ,to zero it with full power 2 3/4 slugs and found out ky battery cap was slightly loose. The recoil from the slugs was causing the battery to loose contact.
  2. 'Just got my hands on this RS Regulate AKML mount that I purchased to use on my Tromix S17. As far as I am concerned, This mount is perfection. It can be tensioned to your weapon so that you get a tight fit and you can center the optic over the bore. It puts the optic really low and best of all it allows you to use the lightest and best red dot on the market on your AK/Saiga 12 etc. I pounded the crap out of it yesterday with a lot of 1600fps slugs and 3" 00buck with zero issues.
  3. The crap that people think about......It is a freakin gun.How about man up and shoot the thing and stop worrying about a scratch on it.
  4. Guys correct me if I am wrong but you shouldn't be able to loosen or tighten it,correct? That dimple in the threads is where it is pinned
  5. I am sitting back with high hopes for this gun. This gun wins on ergonomics but it will be a little while before we hear how reliable they are. Now several months have passed and no horror stories about one exploding. That said, this thing is a steal when compared to the $1400 guns legion is selling with lrbho and a top rail.
  6. They designed their magwell to retain the mag on those plastic ribs??WTF....
  7. What does the underside look like? Does it have a hole so the screw that goes into the gas block counter sinks? Also, are these in stock right now?
  8. Tony, Good to know. I am considering one for my gun. My father in law,who shipped his gun to you today for a s17 build,is looking at this rail too.
  9. I am in the same boat as 4layer. I want one for my Tromix S17 but how available are they and what does "fitting" involve?
  10. As for supressed guns,300 black out wins that category. A SBR'd AR with a good can and a few surefire 100 round mags would be good for rage zombies.
  11. Tromix makes a damn good zombie slayer
  12. Are you claiming that the russians have consistency and qc problems?
  13. You could paint that gun pink and it would still be badass. That is a nice looking set up.I really like that muzzle brake.

Was looking at defense pistol/shotgun course. I don't think something like this would run afoul of the law since Massad Ayoob runs a course up in Live Oak. Yeah....I don't know how "paramilitary" training is illegal here.Hell, the first Magpul Dynamics Carbine DVD was filmed right down the street from here and I know just about everyone in the DVD.There are all sorts of civilian training in this state.
  15. Evl,the cool thing about that SEPSA club is that they allow you to shoot "slug targets" with your handgun rather than using slugs.IMO,slug transitions are pointless.I have a rifle for that. That said,if you want to send the steel flying run that polychoke and #4 birdshot.Hell, run #4 and no choke. That stuff knocks everything down. Greg, what rail/top rail is that?
  16. I agree with Jim.What I would like to see is a S12 with all the normal reliability mods(basic conversion and MD/Gunfixr plug)No unnecessary stuff like puck, buffer etc. put up against an Akdal with the basic reliability mods(that shim Tromix makes)and someone get several bricks of Federal 7.5 and Remington 7.5 and start shooting and record the failures. We all know what the common failures are on S12's and what the typical brands of ammo are they dont like.I would like to see someone with an Akdal shoot the hell out of it and tell us what we can expect from it.
  17. I am assuming you did that SEPSA match that was today.I really wanted to make it but due to my current circumstances I couldn't make it out. Those guys put on a good match. I have done 3 gun with them before and heard the same comments only to prove them wrong.A few years ago the guys that run that club gave Hobbyshooter and I some grief when they put on a demo at a local range and when they saw we wanted to run their demo course with S12's they claimed they had never seen one run...etc.We ran the demo course probably a dozen times each with no malfunctions. Sometimes they will do shotg
  18. I think the Saiga's "track record" isn't a selling point. It seems that for every 1 person I run into that has good things to say about the S12(either in person or on other forums)there are 5 that say all they have ever seen of them is that they constantly have failures. Either way,I don't see these driving the price of the S12 down.Once these Akdals take off(assuming they do for previously mentioned reasons)I see the opposite happening. It will drive the price of the Akdal up having little effect on the S12 price. I too want to see these guns have a solid following because I really like
  19. Actually I gotta disagree with this. Sure, we've designed one (several versions, actually) as well, it's not rocket science. The problem is trying to compete price-wise with the Izhmash factory or the Turks. To build a gun for under $1000 retail? Tough task. You are correct that the mag is the sticking point, just as it is with all gun design and most Tromix unusual builds came about because of serendipitous mag fitment. I can imagine trying to compete against them would be a tall order considering you would essentially be starting from scratch and well Ismash....not so much.

  21. First, congrats on a good shoot and coming out alive. I read this last night and have been thinking about it this morning. Not that it matters now,do you think your cut thumb is what caused the failure? Also, all this monday morning quarterbacking about gun and caliber is silly. I pocket carry a jframe with speer .38 short barrel in warm weather and carry a m&p compact in a mtac holster in cooler weather and feel that either are sufficient. That said,I personally know someone who shot a guy point blank with a .45 Kimber carry gun(comander size) right next to his nipple(under arm) wit
  22. Nope,8 inch; What Tri-Rail and vertical grip is that? It is a Kross midlength rail and the Troy stubby vert grip.
  23. I shoot Saiga 12s often at Amelia Shotgun Sports (A.S.S. LOL!) in Yulee, FL. I am due for a test and tune soon. PM me if you want to exchange numbers. I may go in the next week or so. We usually throw clays with the hand thrower and chase buckets. It is absolutely a good time. There is a 3-gun in Fernandina on the last saturday of October. I have been trying to find out when this event is. It seemed like noone that I knew could give a definitive answer until yesterday when I found out that it is only on the 5th Saturday of months that have one. I will most likely come to the next o
  24. No reason. It is just on backwards. I dont use a front post.I just line up the two circles and shoot. To clean the gas system on that gun the rail, muzzle brake and front site post have to come off just to get the gas plug out.
  25. Your searches are probably coming up with nothing because many of the thread titles will be "surefire" mags rather than SGM. That said,I have no experience with the promag mags.I do have one of their 12 rounds drums and it works well. However, the AGP mags and Surefire mags are good to go.Google AGP arms.I have dozens of mags so I havn't been shopping for any lately but check AGP arms site,Carolina shooters supply and Mississippi Auto Arms to see what they have in stock.
