  1. LOL

I shot it before I even left the gun store (they have an indoor range). How's that for not waiting?

(mine isnt an SBS...just said I would post the pics earlier in this thread on my new Tromix -and so I did)

I'll get some close up pics of the quality work. I have a good camera and will make them really big for ya.

Of course, each S12 will be likely different (options).

For me, I'll put up pics for the:

    Receiver

    Tromix side folder

    Shark Brake

    Krebs Sights

    Conversion quality.

Likely later on or Saturday night (if I clean it in time =going shooting again).

  2. I did.... on the previous page :)

    (my 100th post too WOOHOO :) )

(its all about the Zombies lol...in fact, that reminds me. Going to go order a couple of those shirts.)

(also, I'm having issues viewing my albums and gallery -no permission??)

  3. Well, coming from pratical experience -if you wear body armor or some thick harness/chest rig....then you might reconsider the value of those slightly shorter stocks compared to NATO.

    Food for thought :)

My AES10 RPK has a custom made longer stock (used on a sample for law enforcement and taken apart -so I bought the furniture hehe). Its a couple inches longer of course.

....but then again, its for an entirely different purpose (counter sniper/sport setup and pulling 5 inch groups at 300....im working on it :P )

  4. Well I said I would post the pics for my Tromix (sorry for the delay...been busy).

All I did really to it was change the forend to the one with the picatinny rail (I had bought that some time ago and well, its an easy thing).

I added my Russian folding grip (which is very solid and dependable) and my light.

Then I added my side rail with the 2 rail mounts on it. I probably wont leave the optics up there like I said (I got the krebs for a reason ya know)

(My EOTech is on my Sig556 at the moment).

Anyway, what is really nice about the Tromix side folder is that it tucks very nicely on the side even with a site mount on it. (Not to mention, I'm a "lefty" and Tony eased my concerns about the grip while folded... +100 customer service all the way).

However, you do have to remove 2 allen screws and remove the folder to allow the room for the mount to slide on there. At least with this particular mount I can mount a laser on that side rail as well (or another light) If I wanted. Pfft...big whoopie-doo for things like that

I might add, that the Tromix Shark Brake is awesome AND very functional. Many inquiries about what it was and where it came from.

Firing my stock S12 and then this one....yes, you notice the reduced recoil and muzzle climb (due to the way it vents, it will put pressure for the gun to move forward).

Probably the best brake I ever felt that made a real difference. *Look on Tromix website for the verticle close up of the shark brake to see what I mean on the venting angles and top ports*.

    Well, enjoy.

  5. Ummm... since I dont own a full auto anything, I should divert that one to those who know (finding a sear).

    BUT:

I think its not just the sear -but the gun/bolt matching numbers or something.

From the sounds of what you suggest, I think that would = prison. Sorry. Not my law. :)

Using an AK as an example:

Merely having an unconverted AK and a full auto sear (not even in the gun) simply at the same home/car = prison as well (unless it was a spare part for your already registered class 3 full auto -considering you didnt have an extra AK it could possibly be used in).

Even if the unconverted AK was a "Pre-Ban" to the 1986 ban, if your "pre-ban" gun wasn't previously changed and registered as a full auto prior to that 1986 cut off date - Pre-Ban would simply translate to "old ass gun". Converting it AFTER that date = prison (or so I understand).

I think the law means that you cannot simply pop the auto sear out of your "legal full auto" pre-ban AK and then mail it to me to pop it into my "pre-ban" AK that was never converted/registered. Even if its an exact fit, its a conversion after that date -hence, its still an illegal change.

...If mine was a registered full auto AK as well and you gave me a sear to replace the one I broke or something...well, I think thats ok -but again, Im not a class 3 owner and would ask 1st to know for sure.

    Or so I was told/read.

As far as I know, you would have to be the Class 2 Gunsmith (not someone else) and could make it for yourself only...or you could sell to Law Enforcement or Military only.

That would probably be the only way. Regular citizens cannot buy Post or Pre samples (I think) that Class 2 gunsmiths make/create....(which is why we all drool over the prices for those in comparison to other Class 3 full auto prices I might add).

Need someone like Tony to chime in on this one to know for sure though. He should know.

Finding the part is easy (let alone fabricating it really). Its the law on full auto conversions that would arrest you. Personally, not something I would mess with at all. You have no room for error on those full auto laws. One slip and its bye bye guns for life (let alone prison/fines)

Of course, I could be wrong a little. But I'm fairly sure that is very close.

    ~S

  6. you do realize that if you had the proper permits the S12 could be full auto ... right?

Precisely, which permit would that be for the regular citizen?

As far as I know, the only way would be to become a Class 2 gunsmith and create Pre-Sample (or was it post-sample).

A regular citizen -even if prior service- cannot purchase these types of full auto.

Another way would be to find a Full Auto that was made and registered prior to the 1986 ban. Not happening there of course though.

Past that, its law enforcement or military purchases (from those Class 2 gunsmiths I think)....and those are department owned (or should be I think).

    Past that its prison.

    Did I miss something?

  7. Some videos on the AA-12 (slow loading for some people probably so give it time to buffer).

    http://midamericarecreation.com/aa12_videos.htm

    Frag-12 round videos:

    http://www.defensereview.com/stories/aa-12...hots_result.mpg

    http://www.defensereview.com/stories/aa-12/shot%201.mpg

    http://www.defensereview.com/stories/aa-12/shot%204.mpg

Good luck getting one without being police or military (let alone being a DD and a tax stamp for each round like a mortar would be).

Heck, due to its low recoil, they even made a "autocopter" remote control helicopter gunship.

    http://www.defensereview.com/article846.html

(video somewhere on there it said....I think you have to download it though).

My summary: I take the reliability of my Tromix over that thing.

  8. I don't know what it is exactly. If you posted a ronco quality description and pitch here if it sounds cool I got a hundred bucks.

+1 Ronco comment. LMAO. Reminded me of a time back in the Marines.

I go into a Comm Tent and next to one of the porta-desks there was a tack board for various communications. There was a sheet of paper folded in half, then bowed out a little and pinned to the board (like a pocket) with several pencils stuffed inside.

On the paper it was written: "The Ronco pencil holder".

    Man, they sell anything.

    Field humor at its best.

  9. 1) may or may not become. More than likely though based on consensus and various independent "conversations" (leave me out of that one guys/gals). Rather not touch the drum subject, so lets address the other part of the question:

As for the barrel length -what you get is what you get. As far as SBS goes, I wouldnt trust anyone else to do it except Tromix on that subject. Through trial and certainly error there's modifications that have to be made for the gas flow. I'd leave highly suggest you defer to experience Tony R. has for that topic.

    2) If you convert to full auto, best have your finances in order. You'd be going to prison I would think. (1986 pre-ban AND converted already. That trumps all. These are made past 1986.). Essentially, even if you have a AK made in 1980, if it wasnt converted -and registered class 3- prior to the 1986 cutoff...you just have an old ass gun. You couldn't legally convert that gun now -so you can't convert your shotgun now either (made well past 1986).

However, (not sure)...if you were a "class 2" weaponsmith you "MIGHT" (not sure) be able to convert or make one for being a Post Sample (or was it a PRE sample?). If that was an option, you'd not be able sell it except to law enforcement etc. Ugh...anyway, something like that -and not likely possible unless you built it from scratch. A true gunsmith here on the forum might know that answer.

    3) Anything is possible as far as imports and future bans. Let alone export rules as well (keep that in mind). Are they an investment? Without a doubt. I have 2 and probably will have 3 eventually. If they go DD, yes that'd be sad. But personally it would increase the value in my opinion. It would go down for those not allowed to keep them at all but not for those in states where people have them and others cant get them anymore.

**For the record...I hope that NEVER happens. **

    4) I think you should be cautious on the factory stock that includes the folder and pistol grip. I am not positive on this one, but I think that since they cannot be "imported" in this configuration, that means they consider that particular stock to be a pistol grip. Hence a considered a "conversion" where you are not at 10 foreigh parts or less (factory folder is a foreigh part of course). If you want a conversion, best advice is to convert using the US parts and moving the trigger group forward etc. Again, this could be done by many people -others are the best though. Personally, I do not suggest that factory folder package based on what Ive read about the 922r stuff.

  10. Cool...

I got a much more ambivalent response from mine. Although, I think its at least cool that I got a response. I'm betting he'll still vote for it, but at least his (or more likely, his staffer's) reply back was quite cordial:

Thank you for contacting me regarding gun control legislation. I appreciate hearing your concerns on this important issue.

I believe that we must carefully balance efforts to increase gun safety in America with the right of law-abiding Americans to own firearms. While I support common-sense measures to keep guns out of the hands of children and criminals, I also support the right of law-abiding citizens to own and use firearms for self-protection, hunting, and sporting purposes. Should legislation regarding gun control come before the full House for a vote, I will be sure to keep your concerns in mind.

Again, thank you for sharing your views with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future if I may be of further assistance. Also, I encourage you to visit my website at http://www.house.gov/cleaver, where you can sign up for my electronic newsletter and receive updates on my latest activities as your Representative.

    Sincerely

    Emanuel Cleaver, II

    Member of Congress

Bearing in mind I live in a permanently Democratic urban district, I appreciated that he granted this: "I also support the right of law-abiding citizens to own and use firearms for self-protection, hunting, and sporting purposes."

Always track their voting record when they are "ambivalent"

    http://votesmart.org/voting_category.php?can_id=MMO51575

(scroll down to "Gun Issues" section). Votes NO a lot. Ok in my book I suppose :)

Dont forget to look at "Crime Issues" as well....some Reps have that section. Some don't.

    As for John Linder...

Both Crime and Gun sections...... interesting.

  11. I think part of the conversion is to add a metal strip to a notched mag (therefore modified) ....so that when the follower gets to the top, it hits the bar and thus engages the device.

But I think the good part is that you can use those modified mags in a gun that doesnt have one (nothing for it to engage)

I'm probably going to get a LRBHO on my 2nd base model S12 sooner or later...or when I send it off to Tony (Tromix).

  12. http://www.pts-flashlights.com/products/pr...1-20-40-88-6118

    300 lumens hehehe :)

Mounts on the picatinny rail forend just fine along with your grip -and plenty of "accessories" to work with for switches or other mounts.

Of course, I would suggest trying to insulate it from the barrel shock as much as possible if you really want to go that route ( I have Krebs sights too).

These are designed well enough for shotgun use as well though.

This is my tip of the day. A economical alternative to the surefire with high lumen. Anything less that 90 is a waste of time in my opinion.

  13. Yes you can mount to the side just about any of the POSP scopes etc.

I personally use this type for my dot sights.

    Saiga scope mount (on Ebay)

Essentially, side rails slide forward from the rear and stop when it reaches the end of the block. Then its just clamp (or tighten in my case) snug. They are rock solid and I have NO issues at all with these mounts. None.

If looking for saiga stuff, just search for "SAIGA" on ebay. Much better results. If I recall, I got that side rail from Gilbertsguns.

Yes, you can remove the dust cover with no issues while its mounted.

Granted, its not the "lever" quick detach, but it has the rail on the side as well for anything I "might want to place there.

I avoid the tripple rails because no point in having anything on the ejection side of the gun (furthermore, Im a "lefty"...so I like good visibility).

    ~S

  14. I picked up one of the rubber FAL mag cases to see if they might work, thinking I could just cut off the top cover. It would hold two 10 rounders (one in each pouch) but it was very snug. I'm going to try heating the rubber up a little bit and see if they will re-mold around the Saiga mags.

old trick... try using a shoe tree (stretching to resize type) and perhaps leave it in the sun or hot trunk etc. to heat it up a little for a couple days.

  15. My friend down at the FFL called me today (was so slammed at work I couldnt make it today)...

    He was like:

"Hey dude...guess what's waiting here for you?....damn dude...its... ...I mean.... WOW.... dang dude.....its REALLL NICCCE... its here when youre ready".

Needless to say huge smile all day long. Picking it up Friday before noon...hope to get some pics up early afternoon.

*(only thing I'm going to do to it when I get it is change the forearm to the one with the rail that's been ordered ahead of time, and place my grip/light on it).

Hmm.. might put the EOTech on there for a bit too :)

....but no real intentions to leave it permanent really (its why I got the Krebs sights on it -straight forward wall-o-death home defense).

  16. (I took it off the web belt to show it better)

Keep in mind, this isnt exactly like a "dump" pouch (no slit on cover). Its a leg bag and attaches essentially the same way, but its slightly bigger. Perfect for the intended purpose I have it for.

Have 2 bags on a web belt and thats 10+1 mags. Use any harness for the 5 rounders etc. More or less its more ammo than you really want to be carrying all day long. If you need more than that one bag for "something", then best switch to something else.

And yes, its molle, so having one on the vest or pack is not bad idea either to save pack space (and save the legs).

    Semper Fi,

    ~S

  17. Well, aside from my harnesses or other side pouches I use for various weapons (RPK, AK74, Sig556 etc)...

For most outings like going to the range etc, I just use a nice leg bag. Doubles as a nice drop pouch as well if not in a "rush".

I also consider it my SHTF "grab bag". Sits next to the Saiga -grab N go.

It holds 5 of the 10 rounders side by side (rounds facing out and away from you) You would think it would do 6, but the floor plates take up the angle down at the bottom.

Or it "can" hold 6 of the 10 rounders in 2 rows of 3 each (facing forward or rearward for the rounds). I choose not to do this because its not fast to get your fingers aound the mag to pull it out, and I think if I were to shoot-n-scoot, it would be a lot of forward/rear movement on the flap (increasing chance of a loose round popping out of the mag/bag). 5 going sideways is preferable for reloading faster and staying snug (just a tip....and you "could" do 6 sideways).

It also has a "cinch" cord inside for a nice snug fit and minimal noise (magz still can slide out easy when you draw from center...plastic on plastic).

~~And yes, it has a drain hole and coated to keep the powder high and dry :)

Here's some pics (and included the model type patch as well for those interested). I bought it at an airsoft store around here long ago and it serves pretty well for the longer mags.

  18. Pino... chill out. No room or benefit to show E-Peens here. Show some bearing. Who gives a rats ass if anyone understands our belt ranking system and what it really means in comparison to public/private/self schooling. Seriously. Go read your leadership traits again.

Posturing is unbecoming bud. Fight the issue and not the person. Same to you Dog.

Those who live by the sword -die by those who do not. You'd have to be perfect -every time. They only have to be "lucky" -once.

Although you're my "brother", doesn't mean you can tarnish my title. That's wrong and Damnit ~you know it too! Save your energy for real enemies.

Dog, show some tact for Pete Sake. Southerners are no better than the rest of us. ...which of course spells "U.S."

(~~Except they can drink more and make better ghillie suits).

Past that, banning....ok. Goes right into the "so what" category for me. Will it keep me up nights wondering why oh why? Nope -so what.

The ISSUE is the drums and the possible effect, or no effect, on our Saiga 12 shotguns. The issue is about what WE think about it and why. Everyone wants to go off into reduce the thinking pool down to a pile of steaming pile of filth, typos, and threats?

...Well let me at least remind you all of one simple fact: Divided we will fall. Its as true now as it was then. If someone wants to be a rogue on something like drums well...it thins the herd now doesnt it? You think the ATF wants to go against those standing together, or the one wandering from the flock? Well shit...here I thought some of you were hunters.

  19. One thing I keep true to my heart: an innocent man never quits. I wouldn't plead out a case like that when I knew I was right. I'd appeal it forever and, if need be, draw attention to the NRA, militia, gun club, heck -forums like here for any and all assistance.

Why? Because tax payers (of respective city/township/county/state) absolutely detest false arrests where they get to foot the bill.

The best example I read up there was the "measure it in court" (in front of the jury preferably).

Better to be tried by 12, than carried by 6....(or even railroaded by 3).

Heck, you probably could even sue the manufacturer or dealer for selling you an 18" shotgun and giving you an illegal weapon instead if in fact, they did measure it correctly. Hey, if I bought a car with a "compliant" exhaust system listed on the bill of sale and then find out my car was impounded because it wasnt (regardless how they tested it)...guess some people have explaining -and paying- to do. Would I bad mouth the manufacturer? Of course not, I would merely post the details of the court case.

Past is past though. Its all lessons learned. I lived in Reno Nevada most of my life. Only moved out here to Ohio in 2004 for career reasons. For the most part, Nevada is a very pro-gun state. Regardless what town youre in, fight it to the county or state level and it would likely be overturned/dropped.

Unless there were "other" charges or circumstances, I'd have to say, and will always say, hold your ground. Be respectful...but hold your ground. With due process you should have the opportunity to present your defense. Not sure why any decent lawyer would take 15k to finally do nothing with the case. Personally, I'd fire them if a court date wasnt set immediately (right to a speedy trial I believe we have). Bogging things down with litigation, depositions, and all sorts of whatever -blah. The law and method to measure is clear, set the date. If the officer doesnt appear -not my problem. We win.

I digress. Hindsight is 20/20. Thankfully you got it expunged.

  20. I think you have the same EOTech I have :)

    512.A65

Just a suggestion: mount it as far forward on the rail (with mount slide part flush with the end of rail) ~Much better visibility.

No need to have it point blank to the eye. ;)

    Definitely a "10" Jeaux E.

Mine should be here by this Friday at my FFL. (only it will be longer 19")

I went with.... well, its in my gallery. I might place my Eotech on there or leave it on my Sig 556 (where its more effective). Currently I have a 4 recticle selecting type on my other S12 set to a large circle with center dot... I figure its only got "so much" range that there's not much point for pin point sights.

Even though I have a BHO on mine (and will with the Tromix that arrives, probably the one thing I really debated was upgrading to a LRBHO (upgrading is a matter of perspective I suppose since you have to mod the receiver and the mags). Hmmm.... time will tell on that debate.

Anyway, looks fantastic~! Be safe while its folded. Keep the cherry spot on the hip -not the nose :)
