  1. "Blueprinting, or truing a rifle action ensures the receiver face, threads, lugs, bolt lugs and bolt face are square to the center line of the receiver." https://rifleshooter.com/2013/02/blueprinting-a-remington-700/ To make a long story short..blue printing a action is done in pursuit of ultimate accuracy, much like you would blue print a race engine to achieve the highest horsepower, efficency etc. Its not something most people would do on a backyard can plinking rifle or the engine in your work truck.
  2. Yeah..dont sweat it. Heres a video of Robski mounting/shooting/dismounting the rs regulate 20+ times and making consistent hits at 100 and 200yrds. Im sure it will be more than sufficent for use with slugs.
  3. Very true. Face book is impressive in how it has tricked people into voluntarily surveiling themselves. They no longer have to do detective work when you provide personal info, tag your location in photos, provide intel on who your family/close associates are etc. Sounds harmless until they decide something you like or do is a "security threat". Things like firearm ownership, political affiliation, religous beliefs etc. Not to mention it has promoted destruction of family and society. It has turned "keeping in touch" with family and friends into a impersonal process. Stop being lazy, pi
  4. Face book is probably the most brain dead place to post anything regarding firearms, especially in association with an account providing your real name, family members/people close to you, your contact info and location data.
  5. Try emailing him again on monday if you havent heard from him.
  6. HB of CJ, this be a good option for you. https://shop.akoperatorsunionlocal4774.com/AK-Master-Mount-AK-Master-Mount.htm "This is a side rail that is easily retrofitted to most milled or stamped AK styled receivers without the need to drill and rivet, or utilize a gunsmith. It attaches to the existing hammer and trigger holes by using the proprietary mounting pins. This is a low profile, reversible modification that allows the use of the many commercially available side rail optic mounts." Fits "all milled and stamped AKs that utilize standard hammer and trigger axis pins." Robski
  7. Nice! You would have a hard time breaking that HD piston rod.
  8. I think youll be fine. Im not doubting that it could possibly be out of alignment but it would be the exception not the rule. Id say the chances of having to shim the mount are extremely slim.
  9. Cobra has a longstanding good reputation in the Saiga 12 community. In many many years of following Saigas I have not heard of any complaints of his work or character. On another note..I have heard many times that Evl has a alternative fix for cracked carriers and I would really like to hear more about the process even if its not availible for customers. Maybe it could be utilized as a preventative measure?
  10. I agree with you. And I would even go as far to say that you should also be justified in protecting your land and property. Any one creeping around your property especially around your house should be fair game with few exceptions (mainly young children chasing a ball into your yard, the pizza guy delivering the pizza you ordered etc..). Criminals are emboldened to commit crimes such as car theft etc because there are no legal, life threatening consequences. They can approach your residence with the intent of home invasion but suffer little if any reprecussions until they actually enter the ho
  11. I dont know of another side mount option that will get you lower or more centered than the RS Regulate. If you just want to stick a red dot on and adjust your shooting style to it, then any side mount will do. If you want the absolute lowest, most centered mount possible than RS surely has an option for you. Zeroing the rds will get you point of aim/point of impact but it will not necessarily be comfortable. For example you may end up with your chin to the stock rather than your cheek, to get a good sight picture. With a picatinny mount base rds your compounding the height of the side moun
  12. Im a little bit suprised they let him off to be honest. The reason why is, going by the article it sounds like he persued them and possibly they were "no longer a threat". Even if they turned back to take a shot while running off Im suprised that they wouldnt fault him for persuing them outside of the house. I know it sounds crazy to the average person but unfortunately it seems like the laws are written to protect the criminals. It defies instincts that are deeply ingrained in your subconcious mind to have to stop and worry about whether defending you or your families life is legal. And
  13. If you decide to do it yourself heres some info on how to do it. Look through this thread, there is basically a tutorial with pics. Its written by the infamous "pauly" but it shows the installation of the hd op rod. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/71766-how-to-remove-gas-piston/ Dinzag has a pdf download on replacing piston/op rod on this page. http://www.dinzagarms.com/downloads/downloads.html Heres a AKbuilder vid on how to do it as well. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=S0hnyTzE2cw
  14. Thats the point brother! Its heavy duty and will hopefully be the last piston rod youll ever need!
  15. Midwest makes some good stuff. I dont have any personal experience with that particular mount. Rs regulate mount will offer you the most adjustability. It really depends on what you want (features) and how much your willing to spend. Strictly for use on the S-12 with a picatinny rds, you should be fine with either. If you plan to move the mount to another AK based weapon with a magnified scope, you may be best off with the RS and its modularity/adaptability.
  16. If they ever released a semi aa-12 how much would it cost? I dont think the origin-12 is a big seller and I have the feeling price is the reason. How about mag compatibility? Im not sure the aa-12 is compatible with anything else. So at the obnoxiously high price they are sure to charge (based on their article and elaborate sales pitch) this will be a firearm with a severely limited market. Please dont tell me MD abandoned the thriving S-12/V-12 mag based shotgun market for this! That may be a even more sick of a joke than the double stack pump 590, and thats saying alot! Even if thi
  17. Alot of people like the rs regulate side mounts, they have option to position your rds whever you want/need in relation to the bore and fwd/aft. Txzen is the russian optics/mount guru, not sure if hes on this forum but hes well known in the AK community. Heres a link to his website that has information on nearly every russian optic/mount availible for Kalashnikov based weapons. This link will bring you to the mount section. http://russianoptics.net/mounts.html
  18. Cool, good luck and let us know how it turns out.
  19. Idk, theres more S-12 mag compatible guns out then ever before. When alot of these mags/drums were developed S-12/V-12 were the only games in town. Now theres so many Kalashnikov based shotguns out and for sale its hard to keep track of all of them! There is already a turkish and chinese clone of the V-12 being produced and sold (not yet in U.S. to my knowledge) its only a matter of time till we see them here. No other platform offers everything that the Kalashnikov based shotguns offer. DURABILITY -traditional semi auto gas system designs (mka 1919, sko, 1100, 930 etc.) use fragil
  20. https://cadizgunworks.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&path=18_27&product_id=71 Looks like Tom Cole has what you need.
  21. Looks like magazine fitting instructions, thats just a guess though. Did the mag fit/lock up well?
  22. ^ that should work. If I remember correctly the difference is where the safety detent and notches on the reciever are located, so a standard AK selector will not match up with the S-12. That krebs has every thing youre looking for though.
  23. Thats good to hear, thank you for the reply. This may be a isolated incident and I hope so because the KS-12 has been looking very promising.
